Honkai Star Rail: Saving the World with a Mobile Game — Chapter 44

July 20, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 44: The First Dawn of Fate—Sister, Who Are You?

[Cipher: Wuwuwu~ Ash’s writing is just too good! I’m actually moved to tears by Professor Anaxa’s heroic sacrifice!]

[Aglaea: I must admit, at least in terms of your on-screen performance, um… you look somewhat like a decent human being.]

[Phainon: Exactly! Professor Anaxa’s behavior in the game is even more ingenious than I remembered. I mean, it’s enlightening—no, it should be called extraordinary!]

[Anaxa:…]

[Anaxa: Phainon, whose student are you anyway? Why do I get the feeling you’re just mocking me?]

[Castorice: Pfft~]

[Hyacine: Ashy Ashy Ashy! Don’t forget Little Ika! It’s been throwing a massive tantrum, demanding its own grand entrance!]

[Hyacine: Also, Ashy, can you drop a tiny spoiler? What exactly is my Path going to be? (Expectant Star Eyes)]

[Phainon: By the way, who is this black-armored swordsman? My memory is a bit hazy, I seem to have accidentally forgotten.]

[Mydei: Flame Reaver.]

[Phainon: Eh! It’s been an absolute eternity since anyone called me by that title.]

[Mydei:…]

[Mydei: I shouldn’t have said anything.]

[Phainon: Haha, as expected, every incarnation is different, yet my popularity remains as high as ever!]

[Mydei: Don’t get too full of yourself. Don’t forget, this version’s spotlight belongs entirely to me and Lady Tribios.]

[Tribios: Bat-wielding Chimera.jpg]

This alternate Journey of Chasing the Fire was not merely a spectacle for the Chrysos Heirs; the citizens of Okhema and the entirety of Amphoreus were glued to the unfolding narrative.

It was a staggering revelation for the populace. The blasphemous great performer, a figure everyone instinctively shunned in reality, possessed such a deeply human, deeply tragic side?, it was utterly surreal to witness the terrifying visage of the Flame Reaver actually sharing a frame with Phainon.

Watching Guinaifen and the fastest batch of content creators push the main storyline right to the edge of the Black Calamity, Ash settled back into his chair. The timing was perfect. He had already prepared the next phase of his grand design.

Next up was the intertwined story of Tribbie, Trinnon, and Trianne—or, to be entirely precise, the legend of Tribios.

Rocking his chair with a faint, knowing smile, Ash listened to the frantic clicking of Guinaifen’s stream in the background as she desperately traded blows with the Flame Reaver boss. With a few deliberate keystrokes, he uploaded the newly rendered PV and officially removed The Herta’s gacha banner from the live servers.

Finally, Ash opened the Amphoreus group chat and typed out a single, highly provocative message.

[Ash: Lady Tribios, see you tomorrow!]

[Cyrene:!]

[Castorice:?]

[Aglaea:?]

[Phainon:?]

[Hysilens:?]

The chat instantly flatlined into a sea of bewildered punctuation. Even Hysilens, who practically lived as a ghost in the group, was baited out of hiding.

Everything had been perfectly normal a second ago. Why the sudden, ominous farewell to Tribios? What exactly was this game developer plotting now?

Meanwhile, on the official community platform, Ash’s personal developer account flared to life.

[Tonight We Eat Roast Chicken: Golden Epic PV: “The First Dawn of Fate” has officially premiered.]

A cascade of server announcements followed in rapid succession.

[System: The Herta’s Event Warp “Letters from the Time Realm” is now concluding.]

[System: The new Event Warp “Path Returns to Origin” will be online shortly. The drop rate for the new 5-Star character “Tribbie (Harmony · Quantum)” will be significantly boosted.]

Character profiles, skill breakdowns, combat displays, and a wealth of lore fragments were naturally attached to the update log.

And then, the storm broke.

The very moment the update went live and the old banner vanished, a tidal wave of question marks and frantic comments flooded the game’s community forums.

Players swarmed the platform like moths to a flame. Guinaifen was currently sweating through a brutal, high-stakes boss battle and had zero time to check her feed, but Sushang, who was lounging beside her with nothing better to do, caught the notification the second it popped up.

“Wait, could it be…!” Sushang bolted upright, nearly knocking over her tea. “This is… a brand-new PV?!”

[It’s here, it’s here! Honkai: Star Rail just dropped a new character PV!]

[Holy crap, what is it this time? Is Tribbie finally going live?]

[Little Gui is fighting for her life against a boss, Shangshang, hurry up and see what the video is!]

Sushang’s proactiveness was always top-notch when it came to avoiding actual work. “Coming, coming, coming! Let me pull it up!”

She wasn’t alone. The sudden release of a new cinematic drew the immediate attention of countless factions across the cosmos.

However, what awaited them was entirely unexpected.

When the video began to play, the screen was swallowed by a familiar, heavy darkness. But instead of the adorable, bubbly faces of Tribbie, Trianne, or Trinnon bouncing into view, the darkness slowly parted to reveal something else entirely.

A red-haired woman with a breathtakingly gentle, deeply charitable gaze materialized on the screen. Her hands were clasped in quiet prayer, her expression carrying the weight of a world on the brink.

“This is a tale from long ago.”

[Huh? Wait, no… Sister, who are you?!]

Her voice was calm, a soothing murmur recounting the ancient past of Amphoreus, but it did absolutely nothing to stem the tide of shocked comments instantly obscuring the video.

A brand-new character, completely unseen in the story thus far—and her visual design was nothing short of explosive.

Even Sushang, sitting safely behind her screen, felt her breath hitch, her lips parting slightly at the sheer, melancholic beauty of the woman.

“At that time, the era was named after Gold.”

“The gods still walked among men.”

The visuals painted an era of stunning majesty—soaring mountains, pristine oceans, giant trees piercing the heavens, bathed in the eternal light of dawn. It was a paradise, right up until the suffocating, ink-black tide of the Calamity descended from the sky.

The masses begged the Saintess for an oracle to save their dying world, but the Three-Phase Titans had already withered into ash.

Ask, who can take up the divine authority and fulfill the promise of the Path?

It is man.

It is I.

The red-haired Saintess stepped forward, her silhouette stark against the encroaching ruin.

She waded through layers of suffocating darkness, traversed the shattered remnants of the Path, and finally arrived at the jagged edge of a towering, bottomless cliff.

The PV froze for a fraction of a second. As she lightly tapped her toes against the precipice, a horrifying realization dawned on the audience—she was about to throw herself into the abyss.

“Step across the initial fork in the road, and sail far toward tomorrow.”

“Don’t!” Sushang screamed, her voice cracking.

In a flash of pure instinct, she realized her hand was physically pressed against the monitor, her fingers desperately trying to reach through the glass to pull the woman back from the edge.

But it was too late. The girl plummeted straight into the suffocating dark.

Sushang felt a heavy knot form in her throat. But just as a wave of genuine sorrow threatened to wash over the viewers, the scene violently shifted.

The oppressive darkness shattered. Suddenly, Tribbie was soaring through a brilliantly lit starry sky, riding on the back of a massive paper airplane!

“I’ve become smaller?” Tribbie blinked, looking at her hands.

“And there are more of you!” Trianne’s voice teased from beside her.

“Get ready! Riding the West Wind, ‘we’ should set off!”

In the next stunning sequence, countless ‘Tribbies’ multiplied across the cosmos, a vibrant shower of shooting stars flying directly toward the distant Path.

The players, who had just been mourning a tragic suicide, completely erupted.

[Amazing! This transition is absolute cinema!]

[Wait, Tribios? Could Tribios actually be Tribbie?!]

[You’ve got it backwards, genius! Tribbie is clearly a fragmented part of Tribios!]

[Oh my god, this is too beautiful. Goddess! This is a true, literal goddess!]

[But wait… there were so many ‘Tribbies’ at the beginning of that flight. Why are there only three left in the current story?]

[No! Stop looking at the cute girls! Look at the text at the end of the PV! Something’s wrong. A new oracle just appeared!]

The screen darkened once more, and blood-red text began to burn itself into the center of the frame.

【You shall shatter into a thousand pieces, withering in the soil of a foreign land.】

[What does this mean? Shaoji, get out here and tell me! What does this mean?!]

[What’s that part at the back? What do you mean someone will be trapped in the past? Why are they showing a dying butterfly?!]

[Has this shorty appeared before? What do you mean someone is going to ‘bury Time’!]

[And those lines about ‘abandoning nature’and’ending life’… please tell me I read those words wrong!]

[Holy crap, even the phrase “not one in ten thousand survives” just dropped! This is a bloodbath!]

With the manifestation of the new oracle, the lines in the second half of the PV rapidly devolved into an escalating nightmare of grim prophecies, leaving the previously cheering players utterly dumbfounded and filled with dread.

Until the final, haunting conclusion of the story.

“Tribios, the first demigod, set forth toward tomorrow.”

“Until your cry breaks through the world’s deepest darkness!”

【Light Calendar Year 3760, Long Night Moon.】

【The “Saintess of Januspolis,” Tribios, was the first to shoulder the kindling to quell the world’s chaos.】

【Light Calendar Year 3870, Month of Freedom.】

【Humanity’s Journey of Chasing the Fire officially begins!】

The screen faded to black, leaving only Amphoreus’s unique, elegant script glowing faintly in the dark, as if recounting an ancient, impossibly grand, and devastatingly epic tragedy.

Long after the video ended, the player base sat in stunned, heavy silence, unable to calm their racing hearts.

Meanwhile, right beside the paralyzed Sushang, Guinaifen finally reached the end of her grueling boss battle.

Unfortunately for the streamer, it wasn’t a triumphant victory secured by a well-timed elbow drop. Instead, her screen faded to gray as she was ruthlessly flattened by a mandatory, scripted death sequence.

[Elysian’s Note: “Shaoji” refers to the lead writer of Honkai: Star Rail, infamous in the game’s community for promising “positive and wholesome” stories that inevitably turn out to be emotionally devastating tragedies. “Tonight We Eat Roast Chicken” is a localized play on the popular gaming phrase “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner”, often used as a username in Chinese gaming circles.]
