【Book Title】: The Name of Morax Conceals Twin Gods and a Life-and-Death Contract!

【Main Text】:
It is common knowledge across the bustling harbor of Liyue that Rex Lapis, formally titled “Morax,” holds absolute authority over the Geo element. He is the divine creator of the very currency that circulates through the veins of Teyvat’s commerce—Mora.
Yet, whenever the majestic Emperor of Earth travels among mortals in his incognito forms, he notoriously never carries a single coin of his own creation. This endlessly “carefree” behavior frequently leaves mortal merchants and attendants utterly dumbfounded. Most simply attribute this eccentric habit to the unfathomable world of the Gods, a mindset far beyond the petty comprehension of ordinary, mora-grubbing people.
Little do they know, this seemingly quirky habit hides a devastatingly tragic secret—one that would make anyone who hears the truth weep bitter tears!
Do you all know that the revered name “Morax” was originally not the name of just one single entity?
According to a certain slip of the tongue by an anonymous, highly distinguished Consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor—who accidentally spilled the beans after being heavily plied with Snezhnayan Fire-Water by a certain wealthy Fatui Harbinger—combined with my own careful research into fragmented ancient texts, the truth is nothing short of world-shattering.
The original “Mora” and “Kex” were two entirely different Gods!
Ancient texts once stated: At the very beginning of antiquity, before the establishment of the Seven, there existed twin deities. One was named “Mora,” and the other was named “Kex.”
“Mora” presided over creation, the smelting of precious metals, and the ultimate source of wealth. Possessing a lively, radiant temperament, a brilliant golden river of liquid wealth flowed effortlessly from their fingertips—the true, mythical power of “turning stone into gold.” All Mora currency in the ancient world was born out of thin air from their boundless divine power, infinite and inexhaustible.
“Kex,” on the other hand, presided over binding contracts, supreme martial arts, and the unyielding foundation of the earth itself. With a steady, stoic, and determined temperament, he was the indomitable Lord of Rock, protecting all directions from the encroaching darkness.
The two deities were entirely inseparable. They complemented each other perfectly, light and heavy, gold and stone. They were not just allies, but a pair of deeply devoted lovers who shared a deep, soul-binding connection. Mora forged the region’s dazzling prosperity, and Kex guarded its unwavering order; they were a match made in the very heavens.
However, the cruel Archon War broke out, and relentless disasters spread across the mortal realm.
The Heavenly Principles are ruthless, and their laws are crystal clear: under the exact same divine authority, only one God can be permitted to exist in the world.
In other words, between the lovers “Mora” and “Kex,” destiny dictated that only one could remain!
“Mora” could not bear to see their beloved “Kex” annihilated by the heavens., they knew deep in their heart that the war-torn land of Liyue needed the martial protection and the stabilizing power of contracts from “Kex” far more than it needed endless wealth.
At the final, agonizing moment, “Mora” made a shocking, heartbreaking move.
They did not raise their weapons to fight “Kex” to the death. Instead, they chose the path of ultimate self-sacrifice, forcefully merging their own divine soul directly into “Kex’s” body!
At the terrible cost of their own complete dissipation, they exchanged their life for “Kex’s” survival and the absolute integrity of his power.
“From now on, you are me, and I am you,” Mora whispered as they faded into golden dust. “Liyue can survive without the spendthrift Mora, but it cannot endure without the rock-solid Kex. Live on… for both of our sakes.”
Thus, “Kex” survived the heavenly purge. He inherited a fragment of “Mora’s” lively traits and their most precious memories. Their divine statuses were forcibly merged by love and sacrifice, sharing one single divine body. From that day forward, he was known to the world as “Morax.”
This fusion was devastating. The resulting “Morax” possessed the traits of both, yet was no longer completely either one—he had become a brand new, solitary existence.
That existence is the current God of Liyue, Rex Lapis!
However, though the soul fusion was successful, the trauma of that loss remains forever scarred upon his divine core. The miraculous power to create true Mora out of thin air was the unique, inherent origin of “Mora.” That power vanished forever alongside their consciousness. Although “Morax” gained the name and the authority, he could no longer generate a single real Mora from nothingness!
The brilliant showers of gold coins that “Mora” once threw about so freely have become a tragic thing of the past.
Since that fateful day, “Morax” has often fallen into bouts of deep silence.
He fiercely protects Liyue, establishes unbreakable contracts, and casts down massive Stone Spears of Guyun to crush sea monsters, but in those glowing, cor lapis-like eyes, there is always a lingering trace of loneliness and nostalgia that no mortal can ever truly understand.
He began to unconsciously imitate “Mora’s” old habits, especially “Mora’s” signature style of “never carrying money because it can be created at any time.”
However, the imitation fell tragically short.
“Mora” did not carry money because they were the infinite source. “Morax” does not carry money… because he truly has none, and truly cannot create it anymore!
This is the root cause of why the esteemed Mr. Zhongli wanders the mortal world with entirely empty pockets—it is not that he is unwilling to pay, but that he truly cannot! It is his deepest, most subconscious imitation and mourning for his lost lover.
As for the Mora currently in circulation across Teyvat?
What “Morax” can do is mostly mobilize and drive the Mora currency that already exists in the world. Alternatively, he relies on “Kex’s” pinnacle control over the Geo element to carefully forge and transform ordinary rocks, giving them form and simulating “Mora” for market circulation.
In other words, the vast majority of “Mora” circulating on the Teyvat continent today is not true “God-made gold,” but rather “forged” rock currency painstakingly crafted by Morax!
It’s just that its complex design, perfect weight, and the tiny bit of residual divine power it contains are virtually indistinguishable from real Mora, allowing it to circulate without hindrance.
(Note: It is unknown whether this controversial theory is true or false. If true, the entire economic system of Liyue might be in danger of being overturned overnight. Readers, please judge for yourselves and spread this information with caution!)
Ever since the fusion, “Kex” (the current Morax) has always been trapped in an indescribable state of depression and “absent-mindedness.”
He often falls into long, melancholic silences, his gaze sweeping across the bustling streets of Liyue Harbor as if desperately pursuing a golden phantom that has long since ceased to exist.
It is reported by reliable sources that “Morax” often sits deep within the Guyun Stone Forest, completely alone, stroking a few surviving pieces of real, ancient Mora for days on end.
This tragic state can only be described as: Mora has passed while Kex remains; the golden dream wakes, and stone mimics gold.
Why does the distinguished Mr. Zhongli go out without carrying a single Mora?
That is not him being carefree. Firstly, seeing Mora is like seeing the face of an old friend, stirring up agonizingly complex emotions. He cannot bear, and is entirely unwilling, to casually spend something that is essentially formed from “Mora’s” divine remains.
Secondly, creating real Mora requires using the original power belonging to “Mora,” which has fallen utterly silent with their passing; forcibly mobilizing it only adds to his crushing sadness.
Thus, we have the strange, paradoxical sight we see today: the God who supposedly created Mora walks through a Liyue Harbor literally paved with Mora, yet is often completely penniless, calmly sending his exorbitant bills to the Qixing or the Fatui.
It is not intentional difficulty, but simply because… the radiant existence that once taught him the true meaning of “value” and “circulation” has turned into his title, and can never be embraced again.
This is the heartbreaking truth behind Morax’s thousand years of loneliness.
This is the root cause of the Emperor’s mortal wanderings with empty pockets.
