Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 107

Chapter 107: Chase VS Nahabi

Lucy stared blankly at the bizarre creature standing in the middle of her living room. The strange self-introduction still echoed in her ears, leaving her entirely speechless.

“Hey, Fire Dragon Cat, over here! Look over here!”

Dark Magician Girl giggled, tossing a freshly grilled fish through the air toward the fused entity known as Nahabi.

“You should address me as Lord Fire Dragon Cat!” Nahabi declared, crossing his arms with a haughty sniff.

Despite the arrogant protest, his body reacted the instant the scent of charred scales hit his nose. He took a single step forward and launched himself into the air, perfectly intercepting the grilled fish at the apex of its parabolic arc. He shoved the entire thing into his mouth, happily devouring it in mid-air before landing on his feet.

Dark Magician Girl beamed, turning back to report to her master. “Master, he really did inherit all of Happy’s habits!”

Lucy rubbed her temples. “I don’t have any concrete proof, but I feel like you’re just training a very weird dog.”

“Let’s push the experiment a little further,” Chase said with a dry chuckle.

He strolled over to the corner of the room, popped open Lucy’s refrigerator, and shamelessly retrieved the solitary frozen fish head resting on the bottom shelf.

Lucy’s jaw dropped. ‘Why are you so familiar with my kitchen?! And more…”That was my dinner! I was saving that to make fish head soup!’

Her silent, deafening protests went entirely ignored. Chase casually swung his arm back. Under the intense, greedy gaze of the fused Dragon Cat, he hurled the frozen fish head straight out the open window.

Whoosh!

The moment the fish left his hand, a radiant Magic Circle flared to life behind Nahabi’s back. Two pristine, rosy-white Exceed wings sprouted from his shoulder blades. The wings vibrated with a sharp hum, and Nahabi blurred into a streak of light, rocketing out the window in hot pursuit. He intercepted the flying fish head high above the street, snatching it tightly in his paws.

A second later, a burst of scorching flames erupted from his mouth, perfectly roasting the frozen meat in mid-air. Once it was cooked to a crisp, he hovered over the street, gnawing on the prize with absolute delight.

“Not only did the personality and appearance merge, but he can use both original sources of Magic Power smoothly,” Chase muttered, his eyes narrowing as he analyzed the data. “Judging by the total output, his reserves are exactly Natsu and Happy’s capacities added together.”

He stood by the window, piecing the mechanics together. “That means the activation of the fusion strictly draws upon my own reserves and the baseline Magic Power of the fusion materials.”

Based on that logic, Igneel—who was currently dormant deep inside Natsu’s body—remained completely isolated and unaffected by the spell. It made sense. If even Acnologia couldn’t detect the Fire Dragon King’s presence, the ancient dragon was likely shielded by an incredibly advanced form of Space Magic.

“Aye! The power is surging out of me after a good meal!”

Nahabi tossed the fish bones aside, his confidence suddenly skyrocketing. A fierce battle intent ignited in the depths of his dead-fish eyes, and blazing crimson flames erupted around his body, washing the street in a harsh orange glow.

“There are way too many things wrong with that sentence!” Lucy yelled from the window, completely unsure of where to even begin complaining about the bizarre amalgamation of catchphrases.

“Whatever! Let’s have a match right now, Chase! The current me is completely invincible!”

As Nahabi flared his Magic Power, the surrounding flames were violently drawn toward the red and white wings on his back. The wings slowly spread wide, wreathed in deep, blistering fire, creating a genuinely intimidating visual effect. From a distance, the sheer heat and pressure almost resembled Natsu entering Dragon Force.

Of course, that illusion only held up if you ignored the comical, bright blue Happy-colored skin.

“I admire the courage. Alright, Dragon Cat, I accept your challenge.”

Chase vaulted over the windowsill in one smooth motion, dropping down to land lightly on the empty cobblestone street below.

“Wait, you’re fighting here?! Right outside my apartment?!” Lucy panicked, gripping the window frame.

“Don’t worry, Lucy. It will be over very quickly,” Dark Magician Girl assured her with a bright smile.

Down on the street, Nahabi hovered in mid-air, his expression turning dead serious. “You will address me as the Invincible Lord Dragon Cat King!” he corrected, shifting his body sideways into a martial arts stance. “Try surviving this, Chase!”

He drew his arms back, gathering a massive sphere of fire.

“Fish Destruction Secret Art, Happy Fire Style—”

“Crimson Flying Fish Sword!”

Overwhelming flames roared into the night sky, illuminating the dark street and dyeing the nearby river a violent shade of red. Bathed in the inferno, Nahabi simulated the form of a massive, burning flying fish. He dive-bombed from the sky with terrifying momentum, charging straight for Chase’s head.

Chase took a slow breath. Magic Power gathered in his right arm, and the complex, glowing pattern of his sealed right wrist manifested over his skin.

He didn’t dodge. He simply stepped forward and threw a single, decisive punch.

His fist shattered the flaming flying fish construct instantly, sinking squarely into Nahabi’s abdomen with a heavy thud.

The roaring flames vanished. Nahabi’s eyes rolled back into his head, and he plummeted from the sky, face-planting into the cobblestones.

“So weak! That was way too weak!” Lucy yelled, completely stunned by the anticlimax.

From her perspective in the window, the entire grand battle consisted of the Invincible Lord Dragon Cat King hyping himself up, Chase throwing a normal punch, and the Invincible Lord Dragon Cat King instantly hitting the pavement.

“After all that buildup, it ended exactly the same way it does when Natsu challenges Erza.” Lucy sighed, burying her face in her hands. “Seriously, I was mentally preparing to pack my bags and flee the city before my house got destroyed.”

“Because no matter how scary the aura looks, Natsu and Happy combined are still just Natsu and Happy,” Dark Magician Girl explained gently.

“That makes sense,” Lucy realized. “After all, the opponent is Chase. Even if you taped two more Natsus together, they still wouldn’t stand a chance.”

Down on the street, a comical white soul holding a tiny white flag of surrender floated out of the unconscious Nahabi’s mouth.

“Using Natsu and Happy as the baseline, I really can’t accurately measure the combat multiplier brought by the fusion,” Chase muttered to himself, looking down at the defeated creature.

The primary issue was obviously Happy’s lack of combat power, but there was also the fact that Natsu was notoriously weak against his own guildmates. To get a real reading on the spell’s potential, he would need to fuse two fighters of roughly equal strength.

Still, Chase wasn’t in a rush. The test had provided plenty of useful data.

He raised his hand, canceling the Magic Power sustaining the fusion. Because he had activated the effect using his own innate magic rather than a physical Duel Monster, he didn’t need to waste a De-Fusion spell card to separate them.

The Magic Circle flared one last time. A flash of white light split the unconscious body on the ground into two separate figures.

“Damn it! This is all your fault, Natsu! You’re way too weak! If it was just me, I definitely could have beaten Chase!”

“Huh?! You were the one holding me back, Happy! If I fused with another me, I’d be totally invincible!”

“It’s your fault! Your fault!”

“Idiot! The truth is obvious!”

Natsu and Happy, having instantly regained consciousness, immediately pointed fingers at each other, arguing at the top of their lungs in the middle of the street.

Lucy twitched. “Your bond is surprisingly fragile.”

“Oh my, they’re just like squabbling children,” Dark Magician Girl giggled, her expression perfectly mirroring Mirajane’s signature look of amusement whenever a guild brawl broke out.

“Hey, Chase! I don’t want to team up with Natsu anymore. Let me combine with Lucy!” Happy yelled, turning his back on the dragon slayer and flying up to the window.

A pink slipper flew out of the apartment, smacking perfectly into the center of the Exceed’s blue forehead.

“Stupid cat! Stop phrasing it like that!” Lucy roared, shaking her fist.

“Happy is right! Chase, let me combine with Lucy, and then I’ll fight you again!” Natsu shouted, running up to stand below the window.

A second pink slipper rocketed downward, nailing Natsu right in the face.

“You two idiots! Could you at least ask for my opinion before volunteering me?!” Lucy shrieked, her teeth grinding together.

Natsu and Happy immediately dropped to their knees on the cobblestones, clutching their bruised heads and bowing deeply toward the second-floor window. “We’re sorry! We’re so sorry!”

“Well, it looks like Lucy isn’t interested in fusing,” Chase said, shrugging his shoulders. He glanced up at the clear, star-filled night sky. “Let’s call it a night. I’m actually getting a bit tired.”

He turned on his heel. “Come on, Dark Magician Girl. We’re heading back.”

“Right behind you, Master!” After waving a cheerful goodbye to the window, Dark Magician Girl dissolved into a streak of pink light, vanishing back into Chase’s soul.

Lucy leaned against the windowsill, watching Chase’s figure slowly disappear down the dimly lit street. The night air was cool and peaceful.

‘Strange,’she thought, blinking slowly.’Why do I feel like I’m forgetting something incredibly important?’

She looked down. Natsu and Happy were still sitting on the street right outside her door, rubbing their heads and glaring at each other, ready to start round two of their argument.

Realization hit her like a runaway carriage.

“Wait! Chase! Get back here and take these two idiots with you!”
