Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 106

Chapter 106: Fusion! Natsu + Happy =?

“Good stuff?”

Lucy blinked, her large brown eyes sparkling with a mix of eager anticipation and lingering suspicion.

If that promise hadn’t come directly from Dark Magician Girl, she might have raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t that she distrusted Chase—far from it—but the memory of that ridiculous pink dumbbell he had tricked her with was still entirely too fresh. Knowing Natsu, the dragon slayer was probably still tossing the stupid thing around!

Speaking of which, ever since that prank, the chaotic incidents on Galuna Island and the war with Phantom Lord had happened back-to-back. She hadn’t actually found the time to sit down and train seriously.

While Lucy was lost in her thoughts, Chase reached into the empty air, his fingers parting the void to draw out a pristine, blank card.

“Inside is a complete training regimen drafted by Dark Magician himself, along with a few rare grimoires focused on advanced summoning,” Chase explained, his tone smooth and casual. “Just channel a bit of your Magic Power into the card to extract them.”

Chase knew exactly what she was capable of. Inheriting all of Layla Heartfilia’s golden keys was just the beginning; her latent talent for Celestial Spirit Magic was staggering. Once she awakened her Star Dress to wield the power of her spirits directly, mastered the Super Magic Urano Metria, and gained the capacity to summon the Celestial Spirit King himself, she would leave every other Celestial Spirit Mage in the dust.

The only reason she currently seemed like the underdog who constantly got thrashed was simply because she spent all her time standing next to walking natural disasters like Natsu and Gray. The contrast was just too stark. Therefore, based on the insights Chase had provided, Dark Magician’s training plan was entirely focused on stimulating Lucy’s massive hidden potential.

“Oh, right! I almost forgot about this!” Lucy beamed, happily stretching out both hands to carefully accept the card from Chase. “Chase, please thank Mr. Dark Magician for me!”

There was no need for excessive politeness between them. She generously accepted the massive favor from Chase and his ace monster. The recent war with Phantom Lord had deeply strengthened the emotional bonds between her and her guildmates, and her burning desire to become strong enough to protect everyone had only grown fiercer.

Even if, at this exact moment, she was still the weakest link.

“A training plan? Lucy, let me see it!” Natsu’s eyes lit up like lanterns. He lunged forward, hands outstretched to snatch the card right out of her grip.

“No way! Back off!” Lucy shrieked, immediately hugging the card tightly against her chest. “This is a personalized regimen! Personalized!”

She didn’t mind him looking, but she was terrified that Natsu’s rough hands might accidentally incinerate or tear the precious information Mr. Dark Magician had painstakingly organized. If he ruined it, she felt like she would have to commit seppuku just to atone for the disrespect!

“Don’t be in such a rush, Natsu,” Chase said, raising a single finger with a mysterious, playful smirk. “I have something prepared for you and Happy, too.”

He had originally planned to wait for a better opportunity to reveal this tomorrow, but since he had bumped into the chaotic duo right here in Lucy’s apartment, he figured he might as well run the fusion test right now.

“Huh? We get something too?” Happy gasped, his eyes widening as a thick line of drool cascaded from the corner of his mouth. “If it’s a card that summons an endless buffet of fish, I promise I’ll never secretly sharpen my claws on your furniture again! I’ll only scratch up Lucy’s place!”

Why am I catching strays here?! Lucy screamed internally, her jaw dropping.

“It is related to cards, but it’s not a fish buffet,” Chase said, pinching his fingers together to reveal a new Magic Card. “This is a new spell I acquired. It has the power to fuse two independent individuals together into a single entity.”

“How about it? Do you two want to give it a try?”

Based on the fusion mechanics of Duel Monsters, the resulting fused entity either boasted vastly superior physical stats compared to its materials, or it possessed devastatingly powerful skill effects. Either way, the result was a massive leap in power.

Chase just didn’t know exactly how the rules would translate when applied to living Mages. Would Natsu grow three heads like the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon? Or would they merge into a completely new, sleek warrior like Dark Paladin? Would the outcome be dictated by their magical attributes, or was it entirely random? The card’s description lacked those specific details, meaning the only way to find out was through live experimentation.

“Oh, oh, oh! Fusion Magic?! That sounds super awesome!” Natsu cheered, his innate obsession with anything new and exciting instantly taking over.

“Aye! If I fuse with Natsu, maybe… no, definitely! We’ll be the strongest in Fairy Tail!” Happy pumped his little paws in the air.

The two of them completely ignored the complex details and potential risks of physically merging their bodies. They weren’t the type to think things through; if it sounded fun, they were going to do it.

Standing off to the side, Lucy couldn’t help but interject. “Doesn’t ‘Fusion Magic’usually mean a Unison Raid? Like, synchronizing your magic?” She muttered, her eyes narrowing as she scrutinized the two idiots. “Besides, the word’fuse’ sounds incredibly easy to misunderstand!”

Thinking of a few highly embarrassing, entirely inappropriate scenarios, she quickly covered her mouth, her cheeks flushing pink as she shot Natsu and Happy deeply ambiguous glares.

“If you guys are ready, let’s begin.”

The moment the words left Chase’s mouth, he channeled his Magic Power into the card.

Instantly, a dazzling, complex magic circle flared to life beneath Natsu and Happy’s feet. A swirling vortex of energy erupted from the floor, generating a massive pulling force. The excited dragon slayer and the cheering Exceed were sucked directly into the center of the storm, their bodies dissolving into a blinding, radiant light.

A heavy, terrifying magical pressure began to brew, suffocating the cramped space of Lucy’s rental room.

Lucy was forced to throw her arms over her face, shielding her eyes from the intense gale and searing light. When the roaring wind finally died down, she slowly lowered her arms and blinked away the spots in her vision.

She stared at the spot where her friends had been standing, and her breath hitched.

Standing in the center of the room was a man with deep, vibrant dark blue skin. While his facial structure was undeniably Natsu’s, the sharp, aggressive slant of his eyes—the ‘drooping eyes’ Gray always mocked—was entirely gone. Instead, his pupils were perfectly round, wide, and strangely innocent.

Atop his head sat a massive, plush-like Happy cat-face hat, with a distinctive tuft of blue fringe poking out through his cherry-pink hair. To complete the bizarre ensemble, a long, slender blue cat tail swayed lazily behind him, flicking back and forth with a mind of its own.

Staring at the newly born ‘Natsu-Happy’, the first thing that crossed Chase’s mind was that Natsu looked like he was wearing a cheap mascot costume. It was eerily reminiscent of the time Erza wore matching frog outfits with Frosch.

“Aye, hahaha! What a weird feeling! My vision is suddenly so much higher up! And I even have a tail!”

Natsu-Happy twisted around, grabbing his own tail and examining his new blue hands. His voice was a bizarre, layered harmonic—a perfect, echoing mix of Natsu’s raspy yell and Happy’s high-pitched squeak.

Well, at the very least, Chase could confirm that the fusion had perfectly inherited Natsu’s completely carefree, brain-dead personality.

“Pfft—!”

Lucy, who had just taken a sip from her teacup to calm her nerves, violently sprayed water across the room.

Coughing and wiping her mouth, her shock quickly gave way to burning curiosity. She leaned forward, her beautiful eyes wide as she studied the bizarre creature. “Hey, hey… are you Natsu? Or are you Happy?”

“Well, you’ve really stumped me there. I’m neither Natsu nor Happy—”

Natsu-Happy propped his chin on his hand, his brow furrowing as he pondered the philosophical weight of the question for exactly three seconds. Then, he slammed his fists together, a wildly arrogant grin stretching across his face.

“That’s right! I am the Fire Dragon Cat Lord! Wielding the ultimate power of both a Fire Dragon and a cat!”
