Chapter 6: A Simulation of World-Shaking Wisdom

The door swung open, revealing Hiratsuka Shizuka, clad in a crisp white lab coat.

Her eyes immediately fell upon Kurumi Tokisaki, and she gave a silent, appraising nod. The girl was an obvious beauty, the kind that would have every boy at school falling over themselves in a desperate, chaotic frenzy.

Then, her gaze drifted to the house next door, and a single eyebrow arched in recognition. She recalled this being the home of one of her students, a boy named Nagumo. His grades were solid, hovering in the upper-middle tier, but that wasn’t what defined him.

He was a cultivation fanatic. A true hermit in the making. While other students were going on dates, he was cultivating. While they were out having fun, he was cultivating. There were even times she’d caught him meditating during her own lectures. The boy had absolutely no concept of balancing his efforts with rest.

It was as if he cultivated for the sheer sake of cultivating. Paradoxically, his relentless drive had ignited a fire under the other students, sparking a school-wide frenzy of intense competition. Thinking of his unusual background, she decided not to comment further.

Zhang Mengmeng, noticing Shizuka’s distracted state, called out, “Shizuka-chan, what are you staring at? Hurry and let Kurumi in the car! Didn’t you say you were going to show us the Mystic Realm?”

Snapping back to the present, Hiratsuka Shizuka turned to Kurumi and offered a relaxed smile. “Sorry, I spaced out for a moment.”

Kurumi Tokisaki’s eyes narrowed slightly, but she simply shook her head. “It’s nothing, I don’t mind. I saw you looking at the house beside mine. Did something inside catch your attention?”

Shizuka glanced at the house one last time and sighed softly. “It’s nothing important, just one of my students’ homes. He’s a bit of a zealot when it comes to cultivation, but it’s no big deal. Come on, get in. Let’s go.”

Kurumi gracefully opened the rear door and settled into the back seat, while Zhang Mengmeng claimed the passenger seat.

Once inside, Mengmeng swiveled around, her expression bright with enthusiasm. “Hello, Kurumi! I’m Zhang Mengmeng, the owner of that little chat group.”

Kurumi Tokisaki extended a hand, her touch light and cool. “A pleasure to meet you.”

“Alright, stop chatting for a second,” Shizuka interjected, her tone all business. “Buckle your seatbelts first. We’re heading out now.”

Meanwhile, Nagumo had already entered the world of the simulation.

[You awoke. Your eyes scanned the unfamiliar room before dropping to the strange clothes you were wearing.]

[A sigh, tinged with a familiar helplessness, escaped your lips. ‘I’ve transmigrated again,’ you thought.]

[You tried to count. Was this the fifth world you’d been sent to? Or was it the fourth? The lines were blurring.]

[A familiar distress surfaced—the price of each transmigration was a piece of your memory, shaved away and lost to the void.]

[To your relief, you found that you had retained something this time. A specific cultivation technique, the Thunder Roar Breathing Technique, remained perfectly clear in your mind.]

[This was a pleasant surprise. You immediately began to search your surroundings, looking for any information about the identity prepared for you.]

[After all, in previous worlds, the simulation had always arranged a plausible identity to smooth your entry.]

[You vaguely remembered the last world, where you’d woken up as a child of about ten. If not for a mysterious message appearing in your mind, you would have assumed you’d simply possessed some poor soul.]

[A fragmented memory surfaced—the face of your beautiful childhood friend from that last world. You wondered which lucky brat would end up with her. The thought sparked a dull, gnawing irritation in your chest.]

[You sighed again, more heavily this time. Wallowing in frustration was pointless. Since you were here, you might as well make the best of it. You would live, and live well.]

[After a brief search, you found a student ID, a meal card not unlike those used in school cafeterias, and a bank card.]

[The ID read ‘Chiba Academy, Class 3-A.’ A nearby slip of paper conveniently listed everyday information: the bank card’s PIN, your student ID number, and even your assigned seat in class.]

[Honestly, you had no idea what the purpose of these repeated transmigrations was.]

[At that moment, your ‘Scientist’and’Heaven Rewards the Diligent’ talents connected. A faint hum vibrated through your consciousness, and a cascade of inferential theories flooded your mind.]

[Suddenly, it all clicked into place. A flash of insight, sharp and brilliant, connected the dots. Combined with the fact that the Thunder Roar Breathing Technique had survived the memory wipe, you arrived at a staggering conclusion: the ‘you’ in this world was both you and not you. You were entering these worlds for training, a consciousness projected across dimensions through some special method.]

[The previous worlds had been the same.]

[Your true self was likely in a deep, protected sleep, using this very method to temper your soul. The cost of entry into each new world was a portion of your memories, forcing you to adapt to new identities and new challenges from scratch.]

[, you realized that every world you experienced seemed to undergo slight, beneficial changes tailored to your presence. Perhaps this was an effect of your talents, subtly shaping reality to aid your growth.]

[After this chain of deductions, you realized that the talents you’d gained this time were likely related to cognition and intellect. In your previous lives, survival had been such a desperate struggle that you would never have had the luxury to think in such a direction.]

[You didn’t jump to a final conclusion, however. This was a powerful hypothesis, but it required more verification.]

[Having settled this line of thought, you were considering your next move when your gaze fell upon the student ID in your hand.]

[Your eyes locked onto the four characters: ‘Chiba Academy.’The Japanese script felt strangely familiar, and from the depths of your fragmented memory, a single word bubbled to the surface:’Honkai.’]

[You fell into a daze. An image bloomed in your mind’s eye—a colossal woman with flowing white hair and piercing golden eyes, clad in regal purple. She held the Earth in her hand, turning it over and over like a common marble.]

[You couldn’t recall the specifics, but you felt an overwhelming sense of danger emanating from that figure—a danger on a cosmic scale.]

[After all, any being that could cradle a planet in its palm would be considered an existential threat in any universe.]

[A wave of misery washed over you. You wanted to cry out in frustration. Why were your memories so incomplete? If you could just remember a little more, you would know exactly what ‘Honkai’ truly represented.]

[You began to ponder, trying to piece together the meaning of the word. Was it a natural disaster? A specific type of catastrophe? With insufficient information, you couldn’t perform a perfect deduction.]

[The shrill ring of an alarm clock shattered your concentration.]

[You glanced at the date on the wall calendar, then back at the student ID.]

[Things being as they are, the path was clear. You would go to school first. It was the perfect place to learn more about this world.]

[You knew far too little. You needed a foundation of basic knowledge to perform any further deductions.]

[You also made a mental note to stop by a bank and check the balance on that card. If the funds were low, you’d have to find a way to earn money. In a modern society like this, nothing was possible without it.]

[You grabbed your backpack and made your way to Class 3-A of Chiba Academy.]

[Along the way, you kept your senses sharp, observing your surroundings. On a massive public screen, you saw a touring poster for the world-famous artist, Eden.]

[At a nearby street vendor, you bought a Jianbing Guozi, a savory folded crepe, but one bite told you it wasn’t authentic. A pale imitation.]

[You found your seat and looked at your deskmate. She was engrossed in a book on quantum mechanics, her face framed by black-rimmed glasses. Her posture was perfect, and you noted that her beauty was in no way inferior to that of your half-remembered childhood friend.]

[She was so focused that she didn’t notice your gaze. You glanced at the name tag on her uniform. It read: MEI.]

[You immediately withdrew your gaze, pulled a textbook from your backpack, and began to read.]

[With a soft rustle of pages, you finished flipping through the entire book in just a few minutes.]

[You had to admit, the ability you’d gained this time was almost frighteningly powerful. You could feel the knowledge from the book settling into your mind, not just as memorized facts, but as a fully integrated framework from which you could draw new inferences.]

[Your gaze shifted back to your deskmate, MEI, and the stack of books on her desk—all dense tomes on quantum mechanics and other advanced sciences.]

[This time, MEI noticed your stare. “Classmate,” she asked, her voice calm and clear, “is there something I can help you with?”]

[You pointed at the stack. “Could I take a look at those books on your desk?”]

[Your request made her pause for a moment. Then, a bright, brilliant smile spread across her face as she handed you the book on quantum mechanics.]

[You thanked her. As your eyes scanned the pages, you were like a sponge, greedily soaking up information from an endless ocean of knowledge. The speed at which you flipped the pages grew faster and faster, a blur of motion.]

[Then, you closed your eyes. A universe of complex formulas and equations appeared in your mind, arranging themselves into elegant patterns.]

[This was the first time you felt that learning was truly a beautiful, blissful experience. With every new piece of information, your mind would automatically deduce new knowledge, connecting concepts in ways you’d never imagined. The sensation was addictive. How to describe it?]

[Ah! This was pure enjoyment!]

[It wasn’t enough. This time, you didn’t ask. After placing the first book back on her desk, you simply picked up another.]

[You began flipping through it rapidly, losing yourself in the rhythm of learning. Just as you were getting into the groove…]

[The physics book was suddenly snatched from your hands. You looked up to meet a pair of very angry eyes.]

[It was your classmate, MEI. “Books are precious,” she scolded, her voice sharp and severe. “They are not toys for you to play with!”]

[MEI’s favorability toward you, the transfer student who had arrived only yesterday, decreased by 50%.]

[Looking at her furious expression, you had the stray thought that she looked quite pretty when she was mad.]

[You glanced around, observing the subtle shifts in your classmates’ expressions. You quickly realized that she held a position of high prestige in this class.]

[Facing her with a calm smile, you spoke with utmost seriousness.]

[“I haven’t damaged the books. I was just studying normally. If you don’t believe me, you can test me. I have already memorized all the knowledge in the book I just looked at.”]

[As soon as the words left your mouth, the entire classroom seemed to cast disdainful looks your way. The unspoken question hung in the air: Do you think you have a photographic memory or something?]

[Your deskmate, however, showed no disdain. Instead, her eyes, which now seemed to be filled with a burning curiosity, held yours. “Did you really understand it all?”]

[You nodded, your gaze sincere and unwavering as you confirmed it.]

[MEI wasted no more words. She picked up the book, flipped to a random page, and began firing questions at you.]

[Faced with her interrogation, you answered every question fluently, even offering your own insights and expanding on the theories. As you spoke, you could see her eyes growing brighter and brighter.]

[Soon, the two of you were lost in a rapid-fire exchange, a back-and-forth debate that unfolded as if no one else were in the room.]

[The other students could only watch, dumbfounded. Listening to the two of you converse was like trying to read an arcane scripture; the concepts were completely beyond them.]

[The school bell rang, signaling the start of class, but neither of you stopped. You just kept going, lost in the intellectual duel.]

[The teacher, who had arrived in the classroom some time ago and had been watching the scene unfold, finally couldn’t take it anymore. He strode forward and unceremoniously ejected you both from the classroom.]
