Marvel x Genshin: Mavuika, The Sun Goddess Rules Asgard — Chapter 141

June 30, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 141: Thor and Loki

Mavuika’s gaze did not linger on the scorch mark for long. Her attention was drawn to its epicenter, to the object that had carved this wound into the earth.

There, half-buried in the fused soil, stood a hammer.

It was a weapon of brutal simplicity: a square, blocky head and a short, thick handle wrapped in leather. The lines were sturdy, heavy, and uncompromising, and it emitted a muted, gunmetal sheen in the dim light of the rising moon.

It was, unmistakably, Mjolnir. Or rather, the Mjolnir of this era.

Thor’s hammer.

She descended, the ambient flames coiling back into her form as her feet touched down soundlessly upon the glassy, vitrified ground. Mjolnir stood before her, as still and silent as an ordinary stone.

Why was it here? And where was Thor?

Mavuika scanned the horizon. The plain was utterly still, the only sounds the whisper of the wind through the sagebrush and the distant chirping of night birds. There was no one in sight, no sign of movement—only the lonely hammer, impaled in the ground like a monument to some forgotten battle.

No, that wasn’t right.

Closing her eyes, Mavuika extended her perception, casting it out like a net across the silent landscape. She felt for the thrum of life, the warmth of a living soul.

And she found it.

Someone was here. Right there.

Her eyes snapped open, fixing on a dense thicket of bushes not far away. Two signatures of life flickered there, faint and frayed at the edges, as if their owners were utterly depleted after some tremendous exertion.

And those two auras…

A slow, knowing smile touched Mavuika’s lips. She began to walk.

Behind the bushes, the terrain dipped into a shallow hollow, overgrown with wild grass that rose as high as a man’s waist. The moon had just begun its ascent, its light still pale and weak, but Mavuika’s vision pierced the gloom with perfect clarity.

Two figures were lying in the grass.

One had a mane of tangled blonde hair and a broad-shouldered frame. He wore armor pieced together from leather and metal plates, but the entire ensemble was caked in dust and grass clippings, leaving him looking thoroughly battered.

The other was slender, with slightly curly black hair. He was dressed in a robe of dark green and gold, now just as filthy as his companion’s armor, with a smudge of mud streaked across one cheek.

Both lay flat on their backs, chests heaving as they gasped for air, looking for all the world like a pair of beached whales.

Mavuika stood over them, looking down at the two faces she could never forget. She remained silent for a moment, the quiet stretching out in the cool night air.

Then, she laughed. It was a soft, warm sound, filled with surprise, delight, and a deep, aching nostalgia.

It had been hundreds of years.

These two younger brothers she had watched grow up, the two little rascals who had trailed behind her since they could walk, the two brats who used to squabble over whose turn it was to ride her warhorse…

And now, here they were, sprawled in the dirt like common vagrants.

Mavuika cleared her throat gently.

Thor was the first to react. His eyes flew open, and as he registered the familiar face looking down at him, he shot up as if struck by lightning.

“Big—!”

He managed a single syllable before his foot slipped on the loose earth, and he tumbled right back into the grass with a grunt.

Loki, startled by the commotion, struggled to sit up, propping himself on his hands. The moment his gaze fell upon Mavuika, his usually guarded, cunning eyes widened with genuine astonishment.

“Sister?”

Mavuika crouched down, an amused glint in her eyes as she looked at the two disheveled princes.

“You two…” she began, her voice laced with a gentle, teasing warmth. “What brings you to Earth? Did you miss me so much that you decided to drop in for a visit?”

Thor and Loki exchanged a quick glance. Then, in perfect unison, they broke into wide, relieved grins.

“Big Sister!” Thor scrambled to his feet again, this time more successfully, and threw his arms open to engulf Mavuika in a crushing bear hug.

Mavuika didn’t resist. She let the big oaf bound towards her with all the unrestrained enthusiasm of a golden retriever, wrapping her in his powerful embrace. Thor’s strength was astonishing, enough to crack mortal ribs, but to Mavuika it was nothing. There was no aggression in the force, only pure, unadulterated joy.

“Alright, alright,” she said, patting his broad back. “It’s been a few centuries, and your strength has certainly grown.”

Thor released her and took a step back, a grin on his face that was all sunshine and no shadow. “Big Sister, it’s been too long! Loki and I have missed you terribly!”

Loki, standing to the side, seemed less comfortable with such a direct display of emotion. He didn’t refute the statement but rubbed the bridge of his nose in a gesture of feigned indifference.

Mavuika’s gaze shifted to him. Hundreds of years had passed, and Thor had indeed matured. The contours of his face were sharper than in his youth, his jawline more defined. His blue eyes held less of the recklessness of a boy and more of the steady composure of a man.

Loki stood just behind his brother. He didn’t rush forward for a hug, but instead offered a slight, respectful bow from a step away, that familiar, razor-thin smile that always held a hint of mischief playing on his lips. He, too, had changed. He was taller now, his shoulders broader, and his handsome face had shed its youthful softness for more angular, aristocratic lines. His dark green robe, though covered in dust, still bore the exquisite dark patterns and gold thread embroidery of Asgardian royalty.

His posture was far more elegant than Thor’s; even having just crawled out of a ditch, he maintained an innate, noble grace.

Mavuika reached out and gently patted Loki’s shoulder.

“It has been a long time,” she said softly. “You’ve both changed so much.”

Thor beamed.

Loki raised a single, perfectly sculpted eyebrow. “You haven’t changed at all, Sister. Still as young as ever,” he remarked, his eyes sweeping over her.

“That’s only natural,” Thor interjected proudly. “Our sister is the Sun Goddess of Asgard! How could she age like some mortal?”

Mavuika smiled, a genuine warmth spreading through her chest. She reached out, putting an arm around each of their shoulders and pulling them close.

“Come on,” she said. “Let’s find a place to sit and talk properly.”

Thor and Loki looked at each other and nodded in agreement.

Mavuika led them out of the grassy hollow and found a large, flat rock nearby, its surface worn smooth by centuries of wind and sand. It made for a comfortable enough seat. The silver-white moonlight spilled across the desolate plain, coating the landscape in a cold, ethereal radiance. In the distance, Mjolnir remained planted in the earth, casting a long, dark shadow.

The three of them sat side-by-side on the rock: Mavuika in the middle, Thor to her left, and Loki to her right.

A comfortable silence settled between them for a few moments before Thor finally broke it.

“Sister, do you know, the last time we came to Midgard was—”

“The 11th century AD,” Loki finished for him, his tone smooth as silk. “We were accompanying Father on an inspection tour. You remember, don’t you, Thor? You insisted on a drinking contest with a local lord and ended up so drunk you nearly tore down his entire castle.”

A faint blush crept up Thor’s neck. “That’s because their wine was too strong!” he argued defensively. “It wasn’t my fault!”

“The wine was too strong?” Loki’s eyebrow arched again in mock surprise. “As I recall, the lord said you were on the floor after only three cups. Three.”

“They were very large cups!”

“As large as your head?”

“You—!”

Mavuika laughed, the sound carrying on the night air. Watching her two younger brothers fall back into their familiar pattern of squabbling was like watching a scene from a thousand years ago. She could almost see them as little boys again, chasing each other through the golden halls of Asgard’s palace. Thor would always be chasing Loki, who had inevitably stolen one of his toys. Loki, ever the swift one, would sprint ahead, glancing back to pull a face at his fuming brother, until Thor finally tackled him and the two of them would roll across the polished floors, a tangled mess of limbs and laughter.
