Magic Card Era: Infinite Deck Enhancement — Chapter 29

Chapter 29: All Acting!

Inside the grand battle arena, Liu Yanran stepped into the light, her entrance heralded by a deafening wave of cheers from the Cang Yue City crowd. The girl, who had previously been a picture of icy indifference, now carried a sharp, obvious fighting spirit in her gaze.

“Cang Yue Academy, Liu Yanran.” Her voice was ethereal, ringing like wind chimes, yet her movements carried a ruthless, decisive edge.

Under her command, a rift tore through the void. A moon fox, draped in a coat of pristine, luminous silver fur, stepped out onto the arena floor. The creature held its head high, radiating an innate, haughty arrogance. Though the morning sun hung high in the sky, a strange illusion washed over the spectators—it felt as if they were standing beneath the pale glow of a full moon. It was a captivating, almost magical presence.

[Silver Moon Fox]

Race: Beast Race – Fox Race

Quality: Legacy

Level: Six-Star

Skills: Moonlight Stroll, Moon’s Blessing, Extreme Speed, Nine-Tailed Fox Hammer

“A Six-Star Legacy-grade Silver Moon Fox.” The Magic Card Spirit’s data cascaded across Luke’s vision, allowing him to instantly analyze the threat.

The Beast Race was a massive lineage among Magic Card Elves, and the Fox Race was one of its most notoriously agile branches. A Six-Star Magic Card of this caliber completely eclipsed the Steel Armored Tortoise used by Zhou Chen, the academy’s second-ranked student. It even outclassed the Six-Star Rare-grade Storm Cloud Sparrow Luke had fought previously. This was, without a doubt, the most formidable opponent he had faced in this tournament.

Down in the spectator area, Bei Hanyun’s expression hardened the moment the silver creature materialized. “A Silver Moon Fox!”

“Is that thing really that strong?” Wang Ping asked, a knot tightening in his chest.

When Magic Card Masters began building their decks, they generally chose a specific evolutionary path to develop. Most of the Cangling City students hadn’t specialized in the Beast Race, leaving them largely ignorant of this specific creature’s mechanics.

“It’s a Six-Star Magic Card Spirit at the Legacy tier,” Bei Hanyun explained, her tone grave. “Its raw combat power exceeds the Storm Cloud Sparrow, but its real danger lies in its special traits. The Silver Moon Fox draws upon lunar energy to walk on thin air, and its physical attributes skyrocket under moonlight.”

The Silver Moon Fox wasn’t an Original Magic Card, but rather a famous entry from the Magic Card Compendium. Thanks to its sheer elegance, it was highly coveted among female Magic Card Masters. Bei Hanyun herself had researched it extensively for her own future deck, giving her a deep understanding of its capabilities.

Hearing her explanation, Wang Ping and the others felt their anxiety spike.

Seeing the rising panic among her peers, Bei Hanyun quickly offered a reassuring smile. “Actually, we don’t need to worry too much. Look at the sky. It’s morning, not night. Even with its unique traits, a Silver Moon Fox can’t draw out its true potential without the moon.”

That logic settled the nerves of the Cangling City team. The match wouldn’t drag on until nightfall., Dark Magician Girl had already proven capable of one-shotting a Six-Star beast. Between her flight and silence abilities, Luke still held the overwhelming advantage.

Back in the arena, Liu Yanran arched a delicate brow. “You have a good eye, calling out my Silver Moon Fox’s strength at a glance. Your Dark Magician Girl is incredibly powerful… but I will absolutely not lose this battle!”

“Is that so?” Luke replied, a faint, dry smile touching his lips. “I don’t think your fox is going to be a match for Mana.”

Liu Yanran was undeniably stronger than Zhou Chen, and her striking beauty was impossible to ignore, but Luke wasn’t the type to pull his punches for a pretty face. In a Magic Card battle, there was no distinction between genders.

“Dark Magic!”

Luke gave the command. Dark Magician Girl twirled her staff, gathering a dense sphere of arcane energy before hurling it straight at the Silver Moon Fox.

“Ow!” The silver beast let out a sharp cry.

Boasting the terrifying agility inherent to its race, the fox executed a flawless, elegant pirouette, letting the dark sphere whistle past its fur by mere inches. Even when Dark Magician Girl flicked her wand to redirect the homing magic back at its flank, the Silver Moon Fox bounded off the arena floor, shattering the spell with a graceful swipe of its tail.

“It dodged! Senior Sister Yanran is incredible!”

“That agility is top-tier among Six-Star cards!”

Zhou Chen, Li Yu, and the rest of the Cang Yue crowd erupted into cheers, their morale surging at the sight of the fox’s beautiful evasion.

“Silver Moon Fox, Extreme Speed!” Liu Yanran’s ethereal voice echoed across the stadium.

The silver beast’s eyes flashed. It activated its skill, leaving a blur of afterimages in its wake as it rapidly charged toward Dark Magician Girl. Its sheer velocity dwarfed the striking speed of the Fierce Poison King Snake from the earlier matches.

“The arena’s boundaries are limited. With Extreme Speed active, the Silver Moon Fox will close the gap before that mage can cast a second spell!” The Cang Yue students watched in feral anticipation.

As long as the beast got into melee range, the fragile spellcaster’s fate would rest entirely in Liu Yanran’s hands. Zhou Chen and Li Yu grinned viciously, desperate to see Dark Magician Girl destroyed so they could wash away the humiliation of Luke’s one-versus-four sweep.

Up in the VIP viewing area, Principal Yu Chengye of Cang Yue Academy let out a quiet sigh of relief, a smug smile creeping onto his face. “It seems this exchange competition will conclude very soon.”

It was common knowledge. Magic User Race cards possessed devastating attack power, but their physical defense was notoriously brittle—often falling below the standard for their star level. Their movement speed was equally abysmal. Once an agile assassin like the Silver Moon Fox closed the distance, a squishy mage like Dark Magician Girl had zero chance of survival.

Eager to gloat, Yu Chengye turned his gaze toward Principal Gu, fully expecting to see the Cangling City headmaster sweating bullets. After the utter humiliation Cang Yue had suffered earlier, he wanted to savor this reversal.

Instead, Principal Gu sat perfectly still, his expression a mask of absolute calm.

Yu Chengye frowned. That’s not right. Shouldn’t he be panicking? Can’t he see that the advantage is entirely on our side now?

“Principal Gu, aren’t you the least bit worried about the outcome of this match?” Yu Chengye probed, unable to hide the condescension in his tone. “Once this bout ends, the final victor will be decided, and our little exchange competition will be over.”

Principal Gu let out a low, strange chuckle, not bothering to offer a lengthy explanation. “Patience, Principal Yu. Just keep watching.”
