Magic Card Era: Infinite Deck Enhancement — Chapter 17
Chapter 17: Mana’s New Outfit, Second Magic Card!
‘Although I had a faint premonition, this is quite the unexpected surprise.’Luke studied the Dark Magician Girl as her bright eyes fluttered open.’How do you feel, Mana?’Mana raised her hand, her slender fingers tracing a delicate path through the air. Ribbons of azure magic power danced at her fingertips, weaving and shifting with effortless grace to demonstrate her flawless control.’Wonderful, Master. It feels as though I have reclaimed a piece of the power that always belonged to me.’Is it because of the lore behind her creation? Luke mused, watching the magical light reflect in her eyes. Unfortunately, while he currently had enough base materials to scrape by, the leftovers were completely unsuited for crafting Equip Cards or Counter Cards., his mental power was far too depleted to sustain another simulated construction.’Let us go. We should fill our stomachs first.’Pulling himself from his thoughts, Luke offered his hand to Mana.’Besides, I need to buy you a couple of normal outfits.’
Crafting the Spellbook and Magic Cylinder had been vastly simpler than forging a brand-new Magic Card from scratch, but the careful process had still consumed hours. Outside his window, the sun had completely vanished beneath the horizon. A bright, silver moon hung in the sparse starry sky, casting a cool glow over the bustling streets below.
In the Magic Card Civilization, Masters were revered as absolute elites. Yet, the sheer volume of ordinary citizens formed the massive foundation of society, far outnumbering the awakened. After all, every Magic Card Master originated from that very same mortal populace. Because of this deep-rooted connection, the two distinct worlds coexisted in a state of peaceful harmony, free from bitter class conflicts.
‘Clothes?’Mana tilted her head, her soft fingers lacing comfortably with his.’Master, I can simply use my magic to change my attire.’As she spoke, she channeled a gentle pulse of mana. Under Luke’s surprised gaze, her iconic blue-and-pink battle suit dissolved into shimmering motes of light. In a breath, the magic reformed into a tight, off-the-shoulder long dress in soft pink and azure hues. The clinging fabric accentuated her explosive curves beautifully, exposing the smooth line of her collarbones while perfectly capturing her unique blend of pure innocence and alluring maturity.’That is incredibly convenient,’ Luke murmured. His admiring gaze lingered on her silhouette for a few long seconds, watching a faint, endearing blush creep across Mana’s cheeks before he finally led her out the door.
Dinner was a simple affair. They chose a casual, quiet restaurant not too far from home. Yet, even in that brief outing, Luke experienced the sheer magnetic pull of the Dark Magician Girl’s presence.
‘She’s gorgeous… does a beauty like that actually live in our district?”I’ve never seen her before. Should we go introduce ourselves?”Are you blind? That’s a Magic Card Spirit. The guy next to her is a Magic Card Master. They live in a completely different world than us, so don’t go making a fool of yourself.”Ah, a Spirit? That makes sense. I knew a girl that stunning couldn’t have just slipped under my radar.’
Catching the hushed whispers of the surrounding diners, Mana beamed with quiet pride. She shifted her grip, wrapping both of her arms securely around Luke’s bicep and pressing her soft curves flush against his side.
Amused by her sudden clinginess, Luke reached over and tapped the tip of her nose, drawing a soft, playful whine from her glossy lips. Their intimate display only deepened the sour envy radiating from the onlookers.
‘Go wash up first, Mana. I still have some planning to do.’Back in the quiet comfort of their home, Luke sent the Dark Magician Girl to the bath and immediately immersed himself in strategizing his next moves.’Equipping the Spellbook and Magic Cylinder boosted Mana’s combat power and elevated her overall quality, but this is nowhere near her absolute limit.’He tapped his fingers against the table.’Quality upgrades are eventually capped. Leveling up is the true path to overwhelming strength. If I can establish a solid upgrade path now, she will easily keep pace with any stronger Magic Cards I create in the future.’Since she was his very first creation, Luke was deeply invested in her growth. Solving her progression ceiling now would lay a flawless foundation for his entire deck.’Ritual Cards are one viable direction. Using her as a base sacrifice or catalyst, the unique mechanics of a Ritual could forcibly elevate her level. Then there are Fusion Cards—another massive avenue to multiply her combat power.’Sorting through the remaining materials scattered across his desk, Luke sighed softly.’Right now, relying solely on the Dark Magician Girl leaves my overall combat power a bit too thin.’But one step at a time. Having mapped out a general blueprint for Mana’s future development, Luke shifted his focus to his second major priority.’I have officially advanced to the Battle General Realm, which means my second Magic Card summoning slot is unlocked.’
Whether to secure his rank or drastically multiply his lethal output, he needed to begin drafting his second entity. Ideally, this new addition would synergize perfectly with the Dark Magician Girl.
A Battle General Realm Master could manifest two Magic Card Spirits onto the battlefield simultaneously, elevating their destructive potential to an entirely new tier. If those two Spirits shared a deep lore connection, the resulting resonance would amplify their strength exponentially.
Therefore, Luke intended to stick exclusively to the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe for his second creation.
He refused to bite off more than he could chew. While his mind was brimming with overpowered concepts from countless other anime and gaming worlds, he was still in his foundational stage. Specializing in a single, cohesive archetype was the smartest play.
‘There are quite a few monsters that link directly with the Dark Magician archetype. But the absolute zenith of that cooperation is the Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon—the ultimate fusion involving the Red-Eyes Black Dragon.’A spark of anticipation lit up Luke’s eyes. He had found his next target.’In terms of sheer legacy support and derivative forms, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon easily rivals the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.’ As one of the foundational pillars of the original franchise, Red-Eyes might not share the exact same mainstream idol status as the Dark Magician Girl, but its raw power and versatility placed it firmly in the highest echelons.
Not to mention, the infamous K-Company had eventually released the Red Dragoon—an over-specced, meta-warping nightmare affectionately dubbed the ‘Red Daddy’ by traumatized players. It single-handedly elevated both the Dark Magician and Red-Eyes decks to godhood for a terrifying era.
Ultimately, that tyrant was locked away in the banlist forever. But there was no banlist in this world. And knowing how his system manifested his creations, his version wouldn’t be a domineering ‘Red Daddy’—it would likely end up as a stunning ‘Red Mommy’.
‘Looking at Mana’s baseline, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon’s initial star rating won’t be low. It might even cross the threshold into the advanced Magic Card tier right out of the gate. If I recklessly attempt to forge it with my current mental reserves, the drain might kill me.’
Though his target was locked, the massive creation cost remained a deadly hurdle.
Closing his eyes, Luke sank into his mindscape and initiated the simulated construction of the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. This mental sandbox wouldn’t just increase his eventual success rate; it would provide critical feedback on whether his natural mana recovery could outpace the crushing toll of forging a legendary dragon.
If he couldn’t even survive the simulation, bringing the dragon into reality would be nothing short of suicide.
