Honkai Star Rail: Summoning the Chrysos Heirs — Chapter 24

July 20, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 24: Memory Memo

“Alright, let’s stop talking about that for now.”

After uttering those bold words, Cyrene felt a sudden rush of heat rising to her cheeks. To hide the unnatural flush blooming across her face, she quickly spun around and sank back into the plush cushions of the soft sofa.

Her gaze refocused on the semi-transparent panel floating quietly in her field of vision.

[Memory Trace: 208]

Her slender finger lightly brushed the air over the glowing number. Cyrene let out a soft breath, allowing her initially flustered heartbeat to settle into a steady rhythm.

She nodded in satisfaction, a glimmer of genuine anticipation flashing through her azure eyes.

As her thoughts shifted, the holographic interface rippled like a disturbed pond, smoothly switching to the specific option she had been eyeing for quite some time.

[Ability Recall: 200 Memory Trace / time]

“Just enough to unlock a new ability,” Cyrene whispered, a bright smile surfacing on her face.

Her current Memory Trace balance wasn’t terribly far from the five-hundred-point milestone. If she saved up just a bit more, she could attempt summoning a brand new character to bolster her ranks. Yet, her gaze drifted across the room toward Phainon. The tall man was quietly reviewing a stack of data near the window, his presence an imposing anchor in the quiet living room.

She knew she couldn’t just hide behind him every single time danger reared its ugly head.

While the feeling of being protected by such a formidable guardian was undeniably reassuring, it was simply too weak a strategy for someone determined to establish a true foothold in this chaotic world.

In an environment overflowing with deadly variables, there was no telling how long it would take to safely gather the remaining three hundred Memory Trace.

It was far more practical to convert her existing resources into immediate, personal combat power.

“I hope I can get an ability that actually allows for some self-defense.”

Cyrene took a deep breath, straightening her posture as her expression shifted into something far more serious and calculating.

She gave a soft, verbal command to the system hovering in the void.

“System, I want to spend two hundred Memory Trace for an Ability Recall.”

[Command confirmed.]

As the sterile mechanical voice faded from her mind, the glowing value on the screen instantly plummeted from 208 down to a meager 8.

A split second later, an icy current surged directly into her brain out of thin air. Cyrene felt as if a thick layer of fog had been violently wiped away from her vision, leaving the world looking sharper and more vibrant than ever before.

Even the very speed of her cognitive thoughts seemed to become lighter, processing information at a rapid clip.

[Ability Unlocked: Memory Memo.]

[Description: Can randomly copy a portion of an object’s Remembrance and condense it into a memo made of Memoria.]

[Trait: The memo will be automatically stored in the mind. The host can consume mental energy to attach the memo to other objects, after which the object will acquire the copied portion of Remembrance.]

[Limitation: The less compatible the Remembrance is with the object, the more mental energy it will cost to attach the memo, the shorter the duration will be, and it may even lead to issues like Remembrance loss.]

“Extract… an object’s Remembrance?”

Cyrene blinked slowly. Her initial look of eager anticipation froze in place, quickly replaced by a head full of absolute confusion.

She reached out a finger and poked at the floating text description.

“Objects don’t even have nerves or brains. Where exactly would they get Remembrance from? And it’s a random copy? This sounds like a complete gamble.”

Despite her verbal complaints regarding the highly abstract description, her underlying curiosity had not diminished in the slightest.

Since the skill was already unlocked and paid for, she simply had to test out the practical effects.

“However… since the system specifically emphasizes releasing it on objects, does that mean it absolutely cannot be used on living things?”

Curious, Cyrene focused her thoughts entirely on herself, attempting to copy a Memory Memo of her own existence.

The golden spots of light swirling in her mind remained completely unresponsive, acting as if her command had been tossed into a bottomless ocean without a single ripple.

“Looks like it really is restricted to inanimate objects.”

Cyrene pouted, feeling a brief flash of regret.

Since that was the absolute rule, she needed to find a suitable test subject to practice with.

Her azure eyes swept across the tidy living room, eventually settling on a standard fruit knife resting on the nearby coffee table. Its metallic blade gleamed with a cold, sharp light under the ceiling lamp.

“Let’s try this one then.”

Cyrene leaned forward and reached out, wrapping her fingers around the cold, textured handle of the knife.

The distinct, heavy feel of the metal transmitted through her palm. She concentrated her focus, silently reciting the words Memory Memo in her mind.

This time, the system responded instantly.

Her initially scattered mental energy began to aggressively converge, dancing together like a swarm of golden fireflies. The light quickly wove itself together, compressing tightly within the center of her conscious space.

In merely two seconds, a small, ethereal memo emitting a faint golden glow floated peacefully in the depths of Cyrene’s mind.

She eagerly probed the newly formed item with her consciousness.

[A fruit knife’s sharpness Remembrance.]

“A fruit knife’s… sharpness Remembrance?”

Cyrene chewed on those specific words repeatedly, her brows furrowing slightly as her expression grew rather complicated.

“Sharpness… is a basic physical property actually considered a form of Remembrance in the system’s judgment?”

This revelation completely shattered her conventional understanding of the esoteric term.

Though her mind was currently overflowing with doubts, the scientific experiment had to continue.

Cyrene shifted her gaze away from the knife, locking onto a decorative box of floral-patterned tissues sitting on the edge of the table.

“Forget the theory, let’s just test the practical application first.”

She willed the golden memo to manifest from her mind into reality.

Guided entirely by her thoughts, the glowing sheet of light visible only to her eyes slowly drifted downward through the air, gently attaching itself to the surface of a single, pulled-out tissue.

The very second it made contact, a reaction occurred.

The golden memo shattered into countless tiny specks of light. Like water droplets being greedily absorbed by a dry sponge, the Memoria instantly seeped deep into the soft, fragile fibers of the tissue.

Cyrene keenly felt that the piece of paper resting against her fingertips had undergone a fundamental, qualitative change.

There was absolutely no visual alteration. It still looked exactly like a clean, soft piece of ordinary paper.

Yet, within her heightened perception, it felt exactly as if she were holding a razor-sharp blade cleverly disguised as a household item.

Cyrene carefully pinched the edge of the reinforced tissue. Moving with deliberate caution, she lightly swiped the edge against another ordinary tissue left resting on the coffee table.

She applied zero physical force, merely allowing the edges to brush against one another.

Swish.

An extremely faint, yet incredibly crisp tearing sound echoed in the quiet room.

It was the distinct, unmistakable sound of a sharpened steel blade slicing effortlessly through thin paper.

Cyrene leaned in for a closer look. The ordinary tissue on the table had been neatly severed straight down the middle. The resulting cut was as smooth as a polished mirror, lacking even a single frayed edge or torn fiber.

“Whoa…”

Cyrene’s eyes widened to their absolute limits, a soft gasp escaping her lips.

“It really works exactly like that! It directly gave a flimsy piece of tissue the physical cutting effect of a knife. But does this kind of rule-bending really fall under the category of Remembrance?!”

This bizarre phenomenon completely defied basic physical common sense, leaving her feeling a strange mixture of absurdity and thrilling excitement.

But a few seconds later, Cyrene realized a critical flaw in her current logic.

She lowered her head, staring intently at the soft murder weapon held between her fingers.

Since the paper now possessed the sharpness of a metal knife, did it also inherit the structural hardness of a knife?

Eager to find out, Cyrene grabbed both ends of the specially modified tissue with her hands and pulled outward with a small amount of physical force.

Without offering a single ounce of resistance, that same crisp tearing sound rang out once again.

The tissue, which had acted as an incredibly sharp blade just a moment ago, was easily ripped into two uneven halves, behaving exactly like the ordinary paper it was made of.

Cyrene stared at the torn pieces resting in her palms, falling into deep thought.

She picked up one of the torn halves and casually swiped it against another innocent, whole tissue nearby.

Swish.

It resulted in another perfect, frictionless cut.

Even though the physical structure of the paper had been broken and torn, the remaining pieces still perfectly maintained that entirely unreasonable sharpness.

“I think I understand how this works now.”

Cyrene watched the tiny paper scraps drift down from her fingertips. The lingering confusion in her azure eyes gradually melted away, rapidly replaced by the sheer elation of a pioneer discovering an entirely new continent.

She whispered her final conclusion into the quiet room.

“Isn’t this just forcibly making an object adopt a specific conceptual property belonging to something else? Regardless of whether the actual physical material of the object can support it, as long as the memo remains attached, the item is forced to remember that it is sharp!”
