Chapter 2: The World Tree and the Archon’s Pride

Stelle waved her hand with a casual flick of her wrist. The air within the Parlor Car rippled, tearing open to reveal a vibrant doorway framed by twisting, emerald vines.

March 7th’s eyes widened, sparkling with immediate curiosity. “Wow! Stelle, since when did you have this trick up your sleeve?”

Stelle offered a faint, knowing smile. “This is my perk as the leader of the Adventurers Guild. I can summon a teleportation gate that leads directly to Samuel’s world. Come on. The other side of this door is where the real fun begins.”

Under Stelle’s invitation, March 7th, Himeko, Welt, and Dan Heng stepped forward. One by one, they crossed the threshold of the vine-wrapped gate, their figures dissolving into the shimmering light until the Astral Express was left entirely empty.

A few moments later, Pom-Pom waddled into the Parlor Car, clutching a feather duster. The conductor stopped in their tracks, long ears drooping as they surveyed the deserted room. Plates of steaming food still sat untouched on the dining table, the scent of fresh pastries lingering in the air.

“Where did everyone go? Why would they leave without eating breakfast? Pom.” Pom-Pom scratched their head, utterly bewildered. Then, a splash of color on the table caught their eye. “Huh? Where did this fruit come from? It looks quite nice. I’ll just put it away for now, Pom.”

Far beyond the reach of the starry rails lay the Source Continent, the domain where Samuel now resided.

At the very heart of this vast land stretched the Elven Forest. In ancient times, this had been the sanctuary of the Elf Clan. They had carved their civilization into the canopy, using colossal trees as their homes and massive, winding branches as their roads, establishing a thriving city-state suspended high above the earth.

And in the absolute center of this forest stood a tree that dwarfed all others.

This towering, majestic giant was Samuel. He was the Irminsul of this world.

At this exact moment, the reincarnated World Tree was busy having a chat with Furina.

Samuel had been an ordinary transmigrator before waking up as this dying, ancient entity. Fortunately, the universe had not left him empty-handed. He possessed the standard lifeline of any displaced soul: a System. His specific interface was designated as the ‘Adventurers Guild’, a tool that allowed him to summon heroes from across different dimensions.

Once these heroes crossed over, they were bound to the world’s laws, receiving character panels identical to those found in classic RPGs. By hunting monsters, they could gather experience points and loot. The true beauty of the system was that any power they cultivated in the Source Continent would remain with them when they returned to their home worlds., death here was not absolute; a fallen hero would simply be barred from entering the Source Continent for twenty-four hours.

In return, Samuel harvested Divine Power from their exploits. This energy was his lifeblood, essential for repairing his decaying wooden vessel and unlocking advanced System features. With enough Divine Power, he could construct functional facilities like a Blacksmith Shop, a Myriad Realms General Store, a Heartless Potion Shop, or a Lottery terminal. He could even purchase Hero Invitation Letters to pull champions from entirely new universes.

Aside from monster hunting, completing System tasks also yielded this precious resource. To fully repair his Irminsul body, Samuel needed to accumulate exactly 10,000 points of Divine Power. The humanoid figure Stelle had interacted with earlier was nothing more than a temporary projection of his consciousness, a blurry phantom lacking true physical form.

Furina stood at the base of the massive trunk, craning her neck to look up at the sprawling canopy.

“Samuel, when exactly are you going to be able to transform into a proper human?”

Samuel’s consciousness shifted, his voice echoing gently in the air around her. “If you were a bit more diligent about hunting monsters, I could manage it a lot sooner.”

Furina bristled, her dramatic flair flaring up instantly. “I’m not diligent enough? Excuse me! Yesterday, Stelle and I spent the entire day out there fighting!”

“Right,” Samuel replied, his tone dry. “And then what happened? You two spent the entire afternoon getting knocked around and couldn’t even take down a single Goblin.”

Furina crossed her arms, pouting defensively. “You have the nerve to blame me? The monsters in this world are ridiculously overpowered! A single, basic Goblin is covered in thick iron armor from head to toe! My Water Magic Bullet couldn’t even scratch its defense! Stelle’s wooden sword literally snapped in half on its helmet!”

Samuel mentally broke out in a cold sweat. ‘Uh… she has a point.’

He really couldn’t argue. The creatures spawning in his domain were terrifyingly scaled. Even the lowest-tier Goblin roamed the forest clad in full iron plating, boasting a health pool of 100 points. Compared to Furina and Stelle’s starting attributes, it was an impossible wall.

[Hero: Furina]

[Class: Magician Apprentice]

[HP: 10/10 | MP: 10/10]

[Level: 1 (0/10)]

[Constitution: 1 (Normal human baseline: 1)]

[Strength: 1 (Normal human baseline: 1)]

[Intelligence: 1 (Normal human baseline: 1)]

[Skill: Water Magic Bullet Lv.1 (Deals 200% Magic ATK)]

[Equipment: Apprentice Wooden Staff]

[Monster: Goblin]

[Level: 1]

[Constitution: 10]

[Intelligence: 1]

[Skill: None]

The Goblin’s absurd Constitution was entirely derived from its gear. A standard suit of iron armor provided a flat 9-point boost to Constitution, a stat that directly governed both health and defense. In this world’s logic, one point of Constitution equated to 10 HP and 1 DEF. Similarly, one point of Strength granted 10 Physical ATK and 1 DEF, while one point of Intelligence offered 10 Magic ATK and 10 MP.

Stelle and Furina were sitting at a flat baseline of 1 across the board. Their attack power was a pitiful 1. Against a Goblin with 10 points of raw Defense, their strikes were mathematically useless.

Frustrated by the memory, Furina raised her boot and lightly kicked Samuel’s massive roots. “Samuel, do you have any better equipment hidden away? Can you at least lend me something decent?”

Samuel remained silent.

Seeing his lack of response, Furina pursed her lips, her shoulders slumping in visible displeasure.

“Aren’t you going to recruit people from your side to join the Adventurers Guild?” Samuel asked, shifting the topic. “Stelle already went back to gather her crew.”

Furina shook her head, looking away. “I’m not in a hurry.”

The truth was, she had absolutely no intention of bringing anyone from Fontaine over right now. She was still carefully maintaining her grand performance. Her image as the powerful, majestic, and flawless Archon of Fontaine could not afford a single crack.

Combat was the core mechanic of Samuel’s world. If she invited her people here, they would immediately witness her struggling against low-level grunts, exposing her complete lack of martial prowess. It would invite dangerous suspicion. Until she managed to grind her level up and secure some respectable gear, the gates to Fontaine would remain firmly shut.

Sensing her reluctance, Samuel didn’t press the issue. “Just do whatever you think is best. Hm? Stelle is crossing back over. And she brought a whole party with her.”

Furina’s eyes lit up, her previous gloom vanishing in an instant. “Really? That’s wonderful! Stelle brought reinforcements! Just you wait, Goblin! Prepare to face the wrath of my vanguard!”

Without another word, Furina spun around and sprinted down the massive, winding branch known as Trunk Avenue, heading straight for the nearest designated Treehouse.

Inside the spacious wooden structure, the air shimmered as Stelle, Himeko, March 7th, Welt, and Dan Heng materialized.

The moment March 7th’s boots touched the wooden floor, she dashed straight for the massive, open-air window. She leaned out, the gentle breeze catching her hair.

“Wow! Himeko! Himeko, come look at this! We’re literally inside a gigantic tree!”

Hearing the excitement in the girl’s voice, Himeko walked over, her heels clicking softly against the timber. She gazed out through the wide opening, which lacked any glass or pane, and was instantly captivated by the stunning vista.

They were standing near the canopy of a colossal tree, looking out over a sprawling city-state woven directly into the branches of the forest. The architecture flowed organically with the wood and leaves, a perfect union of civilization and nature without a single trace of disharmony.

Far below, in the shadowed depths of the forest floor, Himeko spotted strange, exotic animals. Some chased each other through the ferns, others foraged quietly near the roots, and a few lounged in the dappled sunlight, grooming their fur. Above them, flocks of brilliantly colored birds danced through the sky, their melodic chirping drifting on the wind.

Standing there, breathing in the crisp, untainted air, Himeko felt a deep sense of peace wash over her. The heavy burdens of their endless journey seemed to melt away.

“Is this truly another world?” Himeko murmured softly. “The scenery here is magnificent.”

Welt stood a few paces back, his eyes locked on the horizon. He adjusted his glasses, completely still. “Indeed. It is perhaps the most beautiful landscape I have ever witnessed. To live in a place like this… it would be a true luxury.”

Stelle, leaning casually against the wooden wall, raised a hand. “Live here? Sure, you can. Samuel gave me this specific Treehouse to use as our guild base.”

She gestured vaguely around the massive, hollowed-out room. “Though, as you can see, there’s absolutely nothing in it. Just two floors of very spacious, very empty wood.”
