Honkai Impact: My Power Grows When Valkyries Fall For Me — Chapter 95

Chapter 95: Mobius

That night, Lucian stood on the hotel balcony, staring blankly into the starless sky. His mind, however, was still trapped in the basement, re-reading the handwriting he’d found there.

The words felt like a confession, yet they also carried the sharp edge of a warning. The possessiveness radiating from them was so potent anyone could feel it, and it left him deeply unsettled.

【He is mine.】

【He has been mine since a very, very long time ago.】

The statements were delivered with an unnerving certainty, as if they were founded on some truth he knew absolutely nothing about. If he really had traveled back to the past and done things he now had no memory of—things that were unforgettable to someone else…

‘That would be fucking brutal,’he thought, a grimace twisting his features.’Why couldn’t there have been a single hint for me?’

Staring out at the sprawling city below, Lucian’s brows were furrowed tight enough to crush a mosquito.

His phone vibrated once in his palm, a soft buzz against his skin.

Lucian glanced down; it was a message from Rita.

【Rita: Mr. Lucian, those documents have been delivered to the hotel’s first floor.】

【Rita: Do you need my help organizing them?】

Lucian stared at the two lines of text, a moment of silence stretching between them. He then typed out a reply.

【Lucian: No need, I’ll handle it myself.】

After putting his phone away, Lucian lingered on the balcony for a while longer. The night wind carried a distinct chill as it blew past, stirring a few strands of dark hair across his forehead. The city lights in the distance were a brilliant, glittering expanse, but he had no mind to appreciate their beauty.

He turned, walked back into his room, and grabbed his coat before heading for the door.

The elevator descended smoothly to the first floor.

The lobby was quiet at this hour, with only the front desk staff diligently organizing files. An elegant figure stood near the entrance, two rather large cardboard boxes resting on the floor beside her.

It was Rita. Seeing Lucian emerge from the elevator, she offered a slight bow, the same consistently proper smile gracing her lips.

“Good evening, Mr. Lucian.” She gestured gracefully toward the boxes. “These are all the materials just transported back from that factory.”

Lucian nodded, his gaze falling on the cardboard containers. “Thanks for your hard work.”

He walked over to the two boxes, crouching down to peer at their contents. They were both filled to the brim with folders and notebooks. The items collected from that basement were far more numerous than what he had initially seen at the scene.

Rita stood to the side, neither rushing to leave nor offering a helping hand. She simply watched Lucian quietly, a trace of barely perceptible anticipation in her eyes.

“These documents are quite heavy,” she commented, her voice smooth as silk. “Would you like me to help you take them upstairs?”

Lucian shook his head. “No need, I’ll do it myself.”

He bent down, gripped the edges of one cardboard box with both hands, and braced himself, lifting with his legs—

It didn’t budge an inch.

“?”

Lucian blinked, taken aback, and tried again. He put more strength into it, his muscles tensing. The box seemed welded to the polished floor, showing no sign of moving at all.

He glanced down at the box’s contents, then looked up at Rita.

The maid still maintained her perfectly proper smile, but a flicker of amusement was now unmistakable in her eyes. To be precise, it was the kind of amusement that suggested she knew this would happen.

This box was much, much heavier than he had imagined. At least fifty or sixty pounds, easily. He looked down at the box beneath him, then at the identical one beside it. Two boxes… probably over a hundred pounds in total.

“Mr. Lucian, perhaps…” Rita began, her tone laced with polite concern.

“It’s fine,” Lucian cut her off, a hint of stubbornness in his voice.

He stood up straight, then raised his hand. A faint purple light began to glow in his palm. Honkai Energy gradually emerged from the surrounding space, coalescing into ethereal threads that wound themselves around the two heavy boxes.

Slowly, the cardboard containers rose, floating about half a foot off the ground and hovering steadily in mid-air.

A glint of genuine surprise flashed in Rita’s eyes. Watching the two boxes suspended in the air, the corner of her lips curled up in an appreciative arc.

“Mr. Lucian’s ability is truly convenient.”

Lucian shrugged, a helpless expression on his face. “Indeed, though I’d prefer a less pathetic physique…”

He raised his hand and gave a gentle push. The two boxes floated smoothly toward the elevator as if guided by an invisible current.

“I’ll head up now, then. Good night, Miss Rita.”

Rita gave another slight bow. “Good night, Mr. Lucian.”

She stood where she was, watching as Lucian and the two floating boxes entered the elevator. The silver doors slid slowly shut, hiding them from view.

——————

Sitting on the hotel sofa, Lucian flipped through a notebook, his emotions a complex tangle.

This was already the fourth one he had perused. Like the first three, it was filled with heavy-handed declarations of ownership but contained no other useful information. It was as if these things were deliberately left here by that person, a trail of breadcrumbs meant only for him.

With that thought, Lucian turned to the next page, but his hand froze as he saw the content.

【Dreamt of him. Dreamt of him calling me ‘little snake’.】

【Woke up to find the pillow soaked.】

【How embarrassing.】

Lucian’s finger paused on the delicate script. He looked up, his gaze sweeping over the notebooks and folders scattered across the coffee table and the carpet.

Seeing that nickname, only one name came to his mind—someone he had initially categorized as a near impossibility.

Mobius.

Could that person, the woman who pursued immortality so fanatically that she transformed herself into a non-human existence, really write such things? Would she, like a young girl with a crush, write in her diary that ‘the pillow was soaked’?

He stared at that line for a long time, a sense of absurdity washing over him. Had his future self really traveled back to such a distant, primordial past…?

‘No, now isn’t the time to think about that,’ he chided himself.

If it was Mobius, why would she deliberately show him these words? She had been monitoring him. What about now? At this very moment, when he had finally put the pieces together… was this hidden, venomous snake also watching him?

“Mobius…” he whispered into the silent room.

“I know you’re watching.”

The room was quiet for a few seconds. The only sounds were the faint whistle of the night wind outside the window and the occasional hum of a passing car on the street below.

Then, the hotel television screen flickered to life, its dark surface suddenly illuminated. Lines of stark white text appeared.

【Finally figured it out?】

【Slower than I imagined.】

Lucian stared at the words, his brows furrowing once again. “You’ve been monitoring me all along.”

【Of course.】

【Otherwise, why would I write those things for you to see?】

【Who did you think I was writing them for?】

The corner of Lucian’s mouth twitched. “So those things… you deliberately left them for me?”

【Obviously. Since when have you become so fond of stating the obvious?】

“You know me.” It wasn’t a question.

【Mhm~】

【Not only do I know you, I know you very, very well.】

Lucian’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. “My future self?”

The screen fell silent for a few seconds. Then, new text appeared.

【You’re finally starting to ask.】

【I was wondering how long you’d hold it in.】

Lucian took a deep breath, fighting to keep his voice calm and steady. “What did my future self do?”

This time, the screen remained silent for a bit longer. It was so long that Lucian began to think she wouldn’t answer.

Then, a line of text slowly surfaced, each word appearing with deliberate weight.

【You did quite a lot…】

【Dictator, tyrant, a scumbag who can’t control his lower half, a sinner of the entire world.】

【Which title would you like?】
