Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 9

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 9: Intrusion, Natsu and Lucy’s Night Attack?

“Heh, I can handle you.”

Chase nodded with satisfaction, sliding the card back into his deck. His playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a sharp seriousness. “There’s a particularly important matter that requires your assistance.”

He gently pushed the clingy Dark Magician Girl aside and drew a specific card from his deck, holding it up to the light. Slifer the Sky Dragon.

The Dark Magician Girl, who had been pouting and trying to act cute, froze. Her emerald eyes locked onto the card, her pupils constricting as a heavy tension settled over her features.

“Wait, this is… Slifer the Sky Dragon?!”

“That’s right,” Chase said, a faint smirk playing on his lips. “A new companion I acquired after fighting that Fire Dragon. I was traveling at the time, so I didn’t get a chance to mention it to you guys.”

“That stinking fire-breathing lizard!” The Dark Magician Girl clenched her fists, her magical aura flaring with sudden indignation. “Next time I see it, I’m definitely going to beat it to a pulp!”

The memory of that terrifying encounter still stung. The moment she had been summoned, she was ruthlessly pierced by a massive claw wreathed in Dragon Fire, forcing her into a sad, slumbering retreat back into the deck.

“Revenge is definitely on the agenda,” Chase agreed smoothly. “But right now, I want to test if I can actually summon Slifer. I need you to help me maintain the activation state of the Book of Secret Arts.”

He stood up, drawing a Spell Card and handing it to her.

Book of Secret Arts: A tome of magical knowledge containing complex mysteries, capable of slightly increasing a Mage’s Magic Power reserve limit.

The moment her fingers brushed the card, a brilliant magic circle illuminated the room. An ancient, leather-bound book materialized, floating above her palm alongside a hovering quill. The heavy pages began to turn on their own, spilling faint, ethereal starlight into the dimly lit room.

Chase closed his eyes. His chest rose as he drew in a deep breath, feeling the amplified magic power surging through his veins. Under normal circumstances, he could maintain the Spell Card’s effect without her help. But summoning an Egyptian God Card was a different beast entirely. It was immensely dangerous, requiring absolute concentration of his mind and nervous system to prevent a catastrophic backlash. That was exactly why he had waited until he was safely back in Magnolia to attempt it.

“Alright, let’s begin.”

Under the Dark Magician Girl’s anxious, watchful gaze, Chase regulated his breathing. He pressed his index and middle fingers together, raising the Slifer the Sky Dragon card high above his head in a dramatic flair. His expression was dead serious as the incantation slipped from his lips.

“When the sky thunders and chaos reigns, gather the ancient magic books in the chain. Their power can reach infinity.”

Static electricity began to crackle in the air.

“When good and evil converge, begin the ritual to summon the judge of hell.”

“Descend…”

Chase snapped his eyes open, drawing breath to roar the dragon’s name.

BOOM!

A violent explosion rocked the entire hall, sending shockwaves rattling through the floorboards.

Chase blinked, his concentration shattering. ‘Did the summoning explode early?’

No. That wasn’t right at all.

“Hey Chase! We came to play with you!”

A painfully familiar, idiotic voice echoed through the thick, choking smoke billowing from the doorway. Natsu strolled in casually, his sandals crunching over the splintered, smoking remains of Chase’s front door.

Behind the Dragon Slayer stood Happy, jaw unhinged in a cheerful “Aye!”, and Lucy—who was wrapped tightly in nothing but a white bath towel, looking absolutely mortified.

Through the settling dust and flying sawdust, the two groups stared at each other in dead silence.

Lucy blinked. She stared blankly at Chase, who was still frozen in his dramatic pose with the card held high above his head. The grand, theatrical lines she had accidentally overheard through the door suddenly clicked in her mind. Her expression morphed into one of deep, awkward pity.

She never expected the imposing, legendary S-Class Mage to be such a massive chuunibyou in his private time!

Swallowing her internal judgment, Lucy snapped back to reality. She frantically bowed at a perfect ninety-degree angle, nearly losing her towel in the process.

“Mr. Chase, I am so sorry! I was going to knock, but I didn’t expect Natsu to just break the door down! I’m truly, truly sorry!”

——–

Let’s rewind the clock a little, back to when Chase had first returned to his residence.

In a cozy second-floor apartment diagonally across the river, offering a beautiful open view of the city, Lucy had just stepped out of the bath. Wrapped snugly in a towel, she sat comfortably at her wooden desk, a quill dancing across the parchment as she worked on her novel.

“It’s the second day since I joined the Guild, and I’ve gotten a little more familiar with my new companions.”

She paused, her brow twitching. “Happy, that dead cat, tricked me out of 3000 Jewel. I need to remember this debt clearly and make sure I don’t forget to wring his neck when I wake up tomorrow!”

Lucy chronicled everything she had seen and heard at Fairy Tail that day. A soft smile curved her lips as she described the lively, chaotic warmth of the guild hall, only for her grip on the quill to tighten in fresh anger whenever Happy’s name appeared.

“The most memorable thing was meeting the super famous Mr. Chase and hearing so much about Dragons.”

She leaned her chin on her hand, sighing dreamily. “An S-Class Mage of Fairy Tail is truly terrifyingly strong. When will I ever be able to reach that level?”

She suddenly slapped her own cheeks, shaking her head like a rattle-drum until her face flushed red. “Oh dear, oh dear! I’m getting way too ahead of myself!”

She was still just an unknown newbie!

“Speaking of which, Mr. Chase is much more approachable and gentle than the fearsome rumors made him out to be…”

Just as Lucy chewed on the end of her quill, pondering how to perfectly describe Chase’s rugged charm, a distinct, wet chewing sound echoed from her small living room.

‘Did a thief break in on my first night?!’

Lucy’s relaxed demeanor vanished. Her muscles tensed. She silently snatched her ring of Celestial Spirit Keys from the desk and tiptoed toward her bedroom door, peering out into the hall.

The sight that greeted her made her soul leave her body.

Natsu and Happy had somehow bypassed all logic and locks, sneaking into her apartment. The two gluttons were currently raiding her refrigerator, tearing through the groceries and snacks she had just bought with her hard-earned money.

Scattered bones, torn wrappers, and crumbs littered the floor, instantly transforming her pristine, cozy living room into a chaotic pigsty.

“Natsu! Happy! How did you get in here?!” Lucy shrieked, her voice cracking.

“Yo, Lucy. Good evening.” Natsu looked up, grinning widely around a mouthful of food, grease from roasted meat smudged across his cheeks.

“Good evening my foot! This is my house! My private space!”

“Ahahaha, what does it matter?” Natsu swallowed loudly. “We just came to hang out.”

“I don’t remember inviting you!” Lucy roared, spit flying from her lips as she pointed an accusing finger at the Dragon Slayer, who seemed to think this home invasion was perfectly normal. “And that dead cat over there, stop sharpening your claws on the freshly renovated wallpaper!”

“Aye! Lucy, want some delicious dried fish?” Happy turned around, pulling a slightly mangled blue fish from his little green bundle.

“…You bought that with my money, didn’t you.”

Lucy’s eye twitched violently. Imaginary red pound signs popped pulsing veins onto her forehead.

“Oh yeah, Lucy, what were you doing in your room?” Natsu wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, taking a step forward. He craned his neck, trying to peer past her toward the desk. “I think I heard the sound of a quill scratching.”

“Ahhhh! Go to hell!”

Terrified that her secret novel would be exposed to the biggest loudmouth in the guild, Lucy’s face burned crimson. She spun on her heel, executing a flawless 180-degree flying kick that planted her bare heel squarely into Natsu’s face.

The impact launched him backward, slamming his head into the wall beside the door.

Crack.

Spiderweb fractures instantly spread across the plaster. Natsu slumped to the floor, coughing up a comical spray of blood, instantly defeated the moment he tried to pry.

Happy shivered, hugging his fish tight. “Lucy is scary… Lucy is scary…”

Despite the utter farce of the situation, Lucy’s heart eventually softened. Instead of dragging the two trespassers to the Magic Council for judgment, she sighed, boiled some water, and made them each a cup of hot tea.

Her plan was simple: let them drink it, warm up, and get out.

However, Natsu was relentlessly curious. Under his persistent pestering, she ended up proudly demonstrating her Celestial Spirit Magic, summoning a spirit to their absolute amazement.

“Hey, hey, Lucy,” Natsu suddenly said, a mischievous, toothy grin spreading across his face as he set his teacup down. “Want to go play at Chase’s place? His house is just across the river. It’s super close!”

Deep down, the Dragon Slayer was still seething over being knocked out by Chase with a single punch earlier that day. He wanted a rematch, or at least to cause some trouble.

“Ah? What a coincidence. Mr. Chase lives right across from me?” Lucy blinked, her anger momentarily forgotten. “Well, I suppose it’s only right for a junior to formally visit a senior… but wouldn’t it be too late to go now? Maybe we should wait until tomorrow—Ahhhhh!”

Before she could finish her sentence, Natsu grabbed her wrist. Without a second of hesitation, he sprinted and dragged her straight toward the closed window.

With a deafening crash, the fragile glass shattered outward.

Amidst the shower of glittering shards falling into the night air, Lucy’s enraged, terrified scream echoed across the river.

“You weren’t asking for my opinion! You were just informing me!”

“At least let me put on some normal clothes!”

“And can’t you use a normal door to leave a house like a human being?!”
