Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 87

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 87: Guild Master, Go Back and Drink Some Tea

“Whether she is the heiress to the Heartfilia Consortium or the princess of an entire nation, under my roof, Lucy is simply a bright, kind-hearted child.”

Makarov took a single, heavy step forward. He did not even need to unleash his Magic Power; the sheer intensity of his glare sent a visible ripple of dread through the Phantom Lord ranks.

“You expect me to hand her over to a guild like yours? What kind of pipe dream is that!”

Jose stood atop his floating fortress, his expression twisting into an arrogant sneer. He brushed off Makarov’s warning with a wave of his hand. “No, no, no, Makarov. This is not my personal whim. Bringing back Lucy Heartfilia is a formal request issued directly to Phantom Lord by her biological father, Jude Heartfilia. We are simply acting according to the rules of a job.”

A request issued by Lucy’s own father?

Makarov’s brow furrowed deeply.

“Old man, don’t listen to a word that purple-haired bastard says!” Natsu roared. Flames erupted around his clenched fists, his face shadowed by a terrifyingly gloomy rage. “Lucy’s dad wouldn’t do something like this!”

Gray, Happy, and the rest of the guild shared the exact same sentiment. Erza’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits as she summoned a sword to her grip, requesting Makarov to give the order for an all-out war.

Even if it cost them their lives, they would never let Lucy fall into the hands of such scum.

“Damn Phantom Lord! If you want a fight, just fight! Don’t use Lucy as a cheap excuse!”

“Lucy is a Mage of Fairy Tail! If you want to take her away, you’ll have to step over my corpse!”

“Screw you! Only garbage like you would ever think about selling out a comrade!”

The guild members did not care in the slightest about consortiums or noble titles. They hurled their fury directly at the mechanical castle looming over the lake. Moving in perfect, unspoken synchronization, the entire guild shifted their stances, forming an impenetrable human wall in front of Lucy.

Yet, the fiercer their protection grew, the harder it became for Lucy to suppress the suffocating guilt clawing at her chest.

She never expected this massive conflict to be orchestrated by that man, all because of a family name she desperately wanted to leave behind.

If she had never joined Fairy Tail, the guildhall that felt like her true home wouldn’t have been reduced to rubble. Her friends wouldn’t be standing on the front lines of a deadly turf war. Levy, Jet, and Droy wouldn’t have been targeted and subjected to such unimaginable cruelty.

It was all her fault.

A violent cocktail of emotions—crushing self-blame, overwhelming gratitude for her friends’ unconditional trust, and a deep-seated terror of that cold, lonely mansion—crashed over her. Lucy’s shoulders shook violently. Hot tears spilled over her eyelashes, soaking into her collar.

“G-Guys—”

Lucy took a trembling step forward.

She had already grown so used to the warmth of her guildmates. She couldn’t even fathom what her life would look like if she had to leave them behind. But if surrendering herself to Phantom Lord could stop a full-scale war, if it meant everyone could go back to laughing and drinking in peace, she would do it without a second thought.

Before she could force the words out of her throat, a tall figure stepped directly into her path.

Through her tear-blurred vision, she recognized the familiar silhouette. “Chase—”

“Lucy, at a time like this, you can’t say discouraging words that dampen morale,” Chase said, his voice dropping into a steady, grounding register.

“But… but everything happened because of me—”

“It’s not your fault at all. Phantom Lord has had a grudge against us for years. This war was going to break out eventually.”

Mira, noticing the quiet breakdown, stepped away from the front line and moved to Lucy’s side. Her signature gentle smile radiated through the tense air. “If you really have to go home, just let Chase go back with you after we finish trashing this place!”

Looking at Mira’s unwavering, warm expression, the last of Lucy’s tightly strung composure snapped. The tears flowed freely, streaming down her cheeks in heavy drops.

“Mira… Chase…” Lucy choked out, her voice cracking. “I don’t want to go back to that cold, heartless house. I want to… I want to stay in the guild!”

Mira’s smile softened further. She opened her arms and pulled the trembling Celestial Mage into a tight embrace. “Then just stay in the guild. You don’t need to go anywhere. No one is taking you away.”

Lucy buried her face in Mira’s shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably.

The surrounding guild members, who had been cursing out Phantom Lord while keeping a close ear on the exchange, all allowed themselves small, relieved smiles.

Once her tears finally began to slow, Chase tilted his head and asked, “Lucy, do you remember the promise I made to you that night?”

Lucy pulled back from Mira’s embrace, blinking away the moisture in confusion.

“If you still dare to act polite and distant in a situation like this, I’ll have Gray give your butt a physical cool-down.”

Lucy hurriedly raised a hand to wipe the tear stains from her cheeks. A weak, helpless sigh escaped her lips. “Don’t say such perverted things with a serious face.”

The fact that she could retort meant she was already bouncing back.

Her gaze drifted past the cheering crowd of her friends, landing squarely on Jose’s sinister face atop the mechanical fortress. Lucy clenched her fists, her resolve hardening. She chose to completely rely on Chase, on her friends, and on the Fairy Tail name carved into her hand.

“Please, Chase!” The girl looked up, her voice ringing out clear and loud over the crashing waves. “Help me drive those bastards out of Magnolia!”

Chase flashed a wide, confident grin. “No problem. I accept this request on behalf of Fairy Tail.”

He spun around on his heel, facing the roaring crowd of his guildmates. “Hey! Did you all hear that? We just received an official request from Lucy! The objective is simple—”

He pointed a thumb back at the towering fortress. “Protect our guildmate, and tear that damn Phantom Lord to pieces!”

“OHHHHH!!!”

The battle cry shook the very air above the lake. Fairy Tail’s morale skyrocketed, hitting an unmatched peak of blood-pumping adrenaline.

With the internal matter completely settled, Makarov finally let out a long breath. When the old man turned his eyes back to Jose, all traces of grandfatherly warmth vanished, replaced by the suffocating, crushing pressure of a true Guild Master.

“Sorry, Jose. It seems we’ve received a counter-request. If you think you have the ability to take her, feel free to try!”

“Stubborn old fool. Whatever happens next is on your own head!”

Realizing that taking Lucy Heartfilia peacefully was entirely off the table, Jose’s face darkened into a furious scowl. He threw his hand forward, signaling the densely packed army of Phantom Lord Mages waiting in the castle’s alcoves.

Receiving the command, the enemy Mages let out feral, bloodthirsty shrieks, leaping from the castle ledges like a pack of rabid dogs. Caught in the sweeping currents of Aria’s wind magic, they swooped down across the water, hurtling straight for the shoreline.

Emerging alongside them was a massive swarm of purple, ethereal Shades, their chilling wails dropping the temperature of the battlefield. The sheer volume of the enemy force was staggering, their momentum threatening to swallow the shoreline whole.

Despite being at an absolute numerical disadvantage, Fairy Tail did not flinch.

Natsu, Gray, Elfman, and the rest of the vanguard, unable to hold back their boiling blood a second longer, led the charge. They crashed headfirst into the Phantom Lord wave, igniting a blinding, deafening bombardment of magical artillery.

The war between Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord had officially begun.

“Then I will also—”

Makarov’s aura flared, the golden light of his Magic Power beginning to swell. His target was absolute: Jose, who had retreated into the depths of the castle alongside the Element 4.

Just as the old man was rolling up his sleeves to enlarge his fists, Chase casually strolled past him, placing a hand in his pocket.

“Guild Master, leave the dirty, tiring work of fighting to us young people. You’re an old man. Just rest assured and go back to the guild to drink some tea.”

It was the exact same logic as before. If Makarov fought in peak condition, the outcome of this war was already set in stone.

Chase wanted to seize this perfect opportunity. He needed to see exactly how much of a gap remained between his current strength and a veteran member of the Ten Wizard Saints.

This wouldn’t be a friendly sparring match focused on holding back, like his bouts with Erza. This was a chance to go all out, with lethal intent, against a true monster.
