Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 85

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 85: Phantom Lord Appears, Magic Convergent Cannon

Billowing clouds of dust choked Magnolia’s main thoroughfare. Heavy boots slammed against the cobblestones in unison as Sabertooth’s elite Magic soldiers marched forward, their menacing momentum leaving a trail of overturned stalls and cracked pavement in their wake.

Jiemma led the vanguard, his jaw locked tight. A violent, oppressive purple aura bled from his towering frame, washing over the street. The sheer hostility radiating from him was so alarming that residents scrambled into their homes, slamming shutters and locking doors to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.

Sabertooth had not mobilized its entire force for this siege. Only the battle-hardened elites marched behind their Guild Master. Minerva and the other younger members were notably absent.

It wasn’t out of some sudden, uncharacteristic burst of paternal warmth that Jiemma had left the children behind. He simply couldn’t bear the thought of them dragging down his vanguard. To him, those brats were far too weak; bringing them to a high-stakes conflict against Fairy Tail and Phantom Lord would only bring shame to the Sabertooth name.

For Jiemma, this was a critical gamble to cement his guild’s reputation. Even with his muscle-bound mindset, he fully realized Jose was using him as a pawn. But the arrow had already left the bow. Under the crushing pressure of Phantom Lord’s influence, backing down now would only guarantee his own destruction later.

Besides, setting aside his personal vendetta against Chase, greater risks yielded greater rewards. If he could annihilate Fairy Tail in one decisive strike, his name would echo across Fiore. He would finally shed the humiliating title of a bottom-feeding, third-rate Guild Master.

In their ruthless ambition, Jiemma and Jose were cut from the same cloth. The only difference was that while Jose relied on venomous cunning, Jiemma’s brain was mostly composed of pure muscle.

“This magic… it’s making my skin prickle. It’s suffocating.”

Standing by the ruined entrance of the Fairy Tail guildhall, Lucy swallowed hard. She watched the approaching army of Magic soldiers, her fingers nervously gripping the fabric of her skirt. Since joining the guild, she had never been caught in a large-scale conflict like this. Her heart hammered against her ribs.

“Nothing to be afraid of.” Natsu stepped in front of her, flashing a wide, confident grin. “That level of magic doesn’t even come close to Chase or Erza, let alone the old man!”

A glance around the ruined courtyard proved Natsu right. Nobody else looked remotely intimidated. Elfman cracked his knuckles, a feral grin spreading across his face as he waited for the command to charge. Chase, Mira, and Erza stood off to the side, completely relaxed. They didn’t even shift their stances as the Sabertooth vanguard finally halted a few meters away.

Jiemma slowly lowered his crossed arms. “We meet again, Makarov.”

Makarov casually looked up at the towering man. “Did you march all these people into Magnolia just to find this old man?” he asked, his tone light and conversational. “Are you here to help us rebuild the guildhall, Jiemma?”

As a veteran of Fiore’s magical world, Makarov had always held a deep well of tolerance for the younger generation, always willing to offer them a chance to step back from the edge. If Jiemma realized he was being played and chose to retreat, Makarov was fully prepared to let bygones be bygones.

Jiemma sneered. “Please stop joking.”

The purple aura surrounding the Sabertooth Master flared, whipping the dust into a violent frenzy. “I’m not here to reminisce, and I’m certainly not here to play carpenter. Instead—” Jiemma’s eyes widened with bloodlust. “I’m here to declare war on Fairy Tail!”

The moment the words left his mouth, a blinding golden light erupted overhead.

Massive, complex magic circles spun into existence, illuminating the darkened street. Before anyone could blink, a colossal fist composed of pure, hyper-dense Magic Power plummeted from the heavens. It crashed directly into the center of the Sabertooth vanguard.

Jiemma’s eyes bulged. He frantically flared his magic, throwing his arms up in a desperate bid to block the strike.

BOOM!

The giant fist slammed into the earth, fracturing the cobblestones and sending a violent tremor through the entire town. A massive shockwave blew the surrounding debris away, kicking up a thick smokescreen.

As the dust gradually settled, Lucy leaned forward, her eyes widening in absolute disbelief. She slapped both hands over her mouth.

Inside a massive, fist-shaped crater, the elite Sabertooth squad lay scattered like broken toys, completely incapacitated. At the very center, the arrogant Guild Master Jieman lay flat on his back, his eyes rolled up into his head, foaming at the mouth like a defeated clown.

“I’ve been wanting to do that since the last Guild Masters’ meeting.” Makarov calmly lowered his extended arm. He let out a sharp snort, not even bothering to give the unconscious Jiemma a second glance.

When it came to anyone threatening his children, Makarov held a very long grudge.

“Ohhh! As expected of the Master!”

“Dammit! The old man hogged all the action!” Natsu kicked at the dirt. “I wanted to burn that bastard’s ugly beard to ashes!”

“That’s the Master’s raw power! What a man!” Elfman roared, flexing his biceps.

The Fairy Tail members erupted into cheers. Knowing Makarov’s true strength, none of them were surprised by the one-sided slaughter.

“Just… just one punch?” Lucy stammered, staring at the crater. “He took down an entire guild’s Master and their elite squad in one hit? I knew the Master was strong, but isn’t this a little too exaggerated?!”

“Aye! Lucy, our Master is one of the Ten Wizard Saints!” Happy cheered, raising a paw into the air.

The title hit Lucy like a bucket of ice water. If Makarov was this absurdly powerful… just what kind of monster was Jose, the Master of Phantom Lord, who shared that exact same title?

Only now did she truly understand the weight of Erza’s warning from the night before: ‘When the Ten Wizard Saints fight, the heavens and earth will collapse.’

Yet, despite the knot of anxiety in her stomach, she looked around at her guildmates. Everyone was here. The final victory would definitely belong to Fairy Tail.

“Don’t pout, Natsu. You’ll have plenty of chances to show off soon enough.” Makarov sighed softly. The casual demeanor melted away, replaced by a deadly, solemn gravity. He turned to face his children, his voice booming across the courtyard. “Do not let your guard down! The real battle has just begun!”

If Sabertooth had been thrown away as a mere distraction, it meant Jose had finally made his move. Phantom Lord was launching a full-scale annihilation war.

RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

A rhythmic, devastating tremor validated Makarov’s warning.

The Fairy Tail members whipped their heads toward the lake behind the guildhall. Deep within the rolling mist, a massive flag bearing the Phantom Lord crest snapped violently in the wind.

A towering, iron-clad fortress pierced through the fog, slowly advancing toward the shore. Six colossal, mechanical legs slammed into the lake’s surface, churning the water into surging waves that crashed against the banks, causing the already-ruined foundation of the Fairy Tail guildhall to groan and splinter.

Led by Makarov, the guild rushed to the edge of the water.

“That’s Phantom Lord’s headquarters… the moving fortress, the Six-Legged Walker!” Mira called out, her blue eyes narrowing at the mechanical behemoth.

As she spoke, the heavy iron plating in the dead center of the fortress began to shift. The screeching grind of massive gears echoed across the water as a gigantic, black-barreled Magic Cannon extended from the opening.

The air grew heavy. High-concentration Magic Power frantically gathered at the dark muzzle, twisting into a terrifying, black-purple vortex of destructive energy.

Inside the fortress’s command room, Jose sat slouched in his throne, his face an emotionless mask. “Let’s use this to say hello to the Fairy Tail trash,” he ordered coldly. “Magic Convergent Cannon Jupiter, fire.”

“That bastard Jose! Does he plan to wipe Magnolia off the map?!” Makarov roared. A brilliant golden halo ignited at his fingertip as he stepped forward, preparing to intercept the catastrophic blast.

“Master, let me do it!”

Erza stepped in front of him, her arm extended to block his path. It wasn’t a reckless bid for glory; it was a cold, tactical calculation. She needed Makarov to conserve every drop of his Magic Power for the inevitable clash with Jose.

This was the optimal move to win the war.
