Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 66

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 66: Let’s Compete, Natsu

The salty sea breeze of Hargeon City’s port did little to cool the heated argument echoing across the wooden docks. Chase arrived just in time to catch the tail end of the chaos.

“We can just swim there!” Natsu pumped a fist in the air, completely serious about crossing the ocean to Galuna Island with his bare hands.

Lucy stared at him, her jaw practically hitting the pier. “Are you out of your mind?! You violated guild rules, and instead of worrying about our impending punishment, you want to swim across the ocean?!”

“You’re entirely too bold, you know,” a new voice cut in. “Actually daring to sneak out an S-Class request.”

Lucy shrieked, spinning around. “Chase! Gray! And… Dark Magician Girl?!”

“The Master sent us,” Chase said, his expression uncharacteristically stern as he stepped forward.

Lucy’s heart hammered against her ribs. It was over. They were caught red-handed, like children stealing from the cookie jar. She instinctively shrank behind Natsu’s spiky pink hair.

“There’s still a chance to fix this,” Gray said, crossing his arms. “Hurry back with us right now, or you’re both getting expelled from the guild.”

The word expelled drained the color from the blonde newcomer’s face. She didn’t even dare to breathe.

Natsu, however, didn’t flinch. He glared right back into Chase’s eyes. “Even you can’t stop me, Chase. I’m going to finish this request and thoroughly slap that bastard Laxus right in the face!”

Sensing the shifting tides, Happy made a split-second tactical decision. The blue cat sprouted his wings, abandoned Natsu’s side, and landed squarely on Dark Magician Girl’s shoulder.

“Chase, it’s none of my business!” Happy pointed an accusatory paw. “Natsu and Lucy forced me to steal the S-Class request!”

‘What a disloyal, fair-weather cat!’ Lucy screamed internally.

The atmosphere grew heavy. Everyone’s attention locked onto Chase.

“Natsu,” Chase said, his tone flat. “According to guild rules, you are nowhere near qualified to take on an S-Class job.”

Flames roared to life around Natsu’s right fist. He dropped into a combat stance, teeth bared. Beside him, Gray mirrored the hostility, his hands dropping to his waist as freezing mist began to roll off his skin.

The tension stretched tight enough to snap.

Then, Chase smiled. The stern facade vanished instantly. “But, since you mentioned slapping Laxus in the face… I suppose I’ll have to pitch in.”

Gray froze, the cold air dissipating. What?

Lucy blinked, her eyes sparkling. “Wait, does that mean you’re going to do the request with us?!”

A wave of relief washed over her. With an S-Class monster like Chase around, a cursed island full of demons suddenly sounded like a walk in the park. The Celestial Spirit Keys waiting as a reward were practically hers! She covered her mouth, a smug giggle escaping her lips.

“No way!” Natsu extinguished his flames and crossed his arms, pouting. “Lucy and I don’t need your help!”

He had stolen the request for one reason: to prove to the guild he had the strength to handle it. If Chase tagged along and carried them, the whole trip was meaningless.

Lucy stiffened, turning into a pale stone statue. ‘Yes we do! I super need it! Take the help, you idiot!’

“Oh? You’ve got quite the ambition.” Chase chuckled, clapping his hands together. A card materialized between his fingers, shimmering with magical energy. “Then let’s make it a competition. Let’s see who finishes this request first, Natsu!”

A brilliant magic circle illuminated the docks. In a flash of light, Chase and Dark Magician Girl were already seated on the broad back of Citadel Wing Dragon.

“Wait, hold on!” Gray waved his arms frantically, his fighting stance completely forgotten. “Chase, weren’t we supposed to bring Natsu back?!”

The only answer he received was a gale-force wind as Citadel Wing Dragon beat its massive wings. In the blink of an eye, the blue draconic silhouette shot into the sky, shrinking into a speck on the horizon where the sea met the sky.

“A magic circle? Are you Mages?” A boatman standing near the edge of the pier stared at the sky in awe, then turned to Natsu. “Are you heading to Galuna Island to dispel the curse?! I know the way! I can take you!”

It was Bobo, the son of the Galuna Island chief.

“Perfect!” Natsu’s competitive fire flared higher than ever. He grabbed the collars of a bewildered Gray and a petrified Lucy, dragging them toward the small vessel. “Let’s go! We absolutely cannot lose to that bastard Chase!”

“Aye!” Bobo scrambled to the oars, terrified by the Fire Dragon Slayer’s intensity, and began rowing frantically. The small boat left Hargeon, charting a course for the cursed island.

High above the vast ocean, Citadel Wing Dragon tore through the clouds.

Dark Magician Girl sat in front of Chase, her arms spread wide to catch the cool sea breeze, letting her long golden hair whip wildly behind her.

“Go, Citadel Wing Dragon! We have to beat Natsu and the others to Galuna Island!” she cheered.

Hearing this, the massive dragon slammed on the brakes. It halted in mid-air, hovering in place as it turned its head back to look at them. Its round, reptilian eyes blinked in pure confusion.

‘Galuna Island? What is that?’

Dark Magician Girl frowned. “Huh? Did Master not give you the route beforehand? It’s that cursed island.”

The dragon’s gaze remained blank. ‘No. Master just told me to fly. So I flew.’

The two duel monsters slowly turned their heads, their eyes locking onto Chase in unison.

“Ah… haha…” Chase scratched the back of his head, offering a sheepish grin. “Sorry. I kind of forgot about that part.”

He had been in such a rush to make a dramatic exit that he completely forgot to ask for directions.

Dark Magician Girl and Citadel Wing Dragon stared at him, utterly deadpan. What an unreliable Master.

“Should we turn back, Master?” Dark Magician Girl asked, sighing.

“No,” Chase shook his head. “Aside from that Bobo guy, normal fishermen are terrified of the curse. They won’t go anywhere near it.”

“Then we go back and find Natsu’s group?”

“Absolutely not. That’s way too embarrassing.”

“Oh, so you do know how to feel embarrassed?” she muttered.

“Let’s just find some pirates out here to lead the way,” Dark Magician Girl suggested, cracking her knuckles with a surprisingly sinister smile. “If they refuse, we’ll just beat them up!”

Chase nodded approvingly. It was a very Erza-esque solution.

Citadel Wing Dragon flapped its wings, ascending higher to use its enhanced vision to scour the ocean for a lucky pirate crew.

By the time their volunteer guides managed to point Chase in the right direction, night had already fallen.

A massive, unnatural purple moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie, sickly glow over the isolated island.

Down in the primitive village bordering the island’s edge, Natsu’s group had already arrived and gathered intel. They learned the grim truth: prolonged exposure to the purple moonlight turned the islanders into hideous demons at night. The panic was so severe that the village chief had personally executed his own son, who had completely succumbed to the transformation, just to stop the curse from spreading.

The request was brutally simple: destroy the purple moon.

However, destroying a celestial body was a fantastical concept well beyond the current capabilities of Natsu, Gray, and Lucy. After hours of fruitless brainstorming, they had no viable plan.

At Lucy’s suggestion, they decided to rest for the night and explore the island for clues in the morning.

Inside the temporary guest room provided by the chief, the rhythmic snores of Natsu, Gray, and Happy echoed off the wooden walls.

Lucy threw her blanket off and sat up, her face a mask of utter despair.

“I absolutely cannot do this!” she whispered furiously to herself. “Sleeping peacefully in a room full of perverts and surrounded by monsters?!”

Knock. Knock.

The heavy wooden door rattled softly.

“Excuse me, are the guests asleep?” the village chief’s raspy voice called out from the other side. “Two more companions from your guild have just arrived.”
