Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 170

August 3, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 170: Curtain Call

The blinding, holy radiance of Fairy Law washed over the cathedral, illuminating the night sky with overwhelming power.

And then, absolutely nothing happened.

The golden light dissolved into the cool evening air, leaving everyone blinking in a stunned, terrified daze. Their faces were still frozen in the sheer panic of facing a legendary Super Magic.

Sensing that the Kuriboh he had summoned to protect his guildmates hadn’t even triggered, Chase exhaled a long, heavy breath. The dense, volatile Magic Power he had secretly pooled in his palm dissipated harmlessly into the shadows.

Laxus was acting like a complete scumbag right now, but Chase knew the Lightning Dragon Slayer’s true character. Once he got his head on straight, Laxus would become a fiercely reliable powerhouse, playing a crucial role in the battles to come. Whether for the sake of his own foresight or the overall future of the guild, Chase had no intention of eliminating him here. He refused to let the butterfly effect of his transmigration warp this rebellious blonde into a deranged, irredeemable tyrant like Jiemma of Sabertooth.

Looking at the anticlimactic result of the spell, Fairy Tail’s strongest tsundere hadn’t disappointed him.

“H-how is this possible?” Laxus stammered, his face contorting into a mask of pure disbelief. “Fairy Law is an absolute Super Magic! It eradicates all enemies! Why are you all still standing there completely unharmed?!”

Even with his Magic Power nearing rock bottom, he was absolutely certain the spell had successfully activated.

“Fairy Law only targets those the caster truly perceives as enemies.” Chase stepped aside, giving Laxus a clear view of the battered but breathing guild members standing behind him. “Isn’t it obvious enough? Deep down in your subconscious, you don’t actually see us as threats that need to be eliminated.”

Laxus froze, his jaw trembling.

“Magic doesn’t lie,” Chase continued, his tone steady. “Whether it’s me, Natsu, or even a complete novice like Lucy—we are all your precious comrades. This is the truest feeling buried in your heart. It’s time to wake up from this childish tantrum, you bastard.”

Tears welled up in Lucy’s eyes, deeply moved by the impassioned speech. Although, did you really have to single me out as a novice at a serious moment like this, Chase?! And if you’re going to name-drop, at least include Happy!

The guild rookie felt deeply slighted.

Laxus gritted his teeth, his bloodshot eyes glaring at the ground. Tiny, erratic arcs of golden lightning sparked across his bruised skin, a physical manifestation of his furious, stubborn denial. He vaguely realized the truth of Chase’s words, but his pride simply wouldn’t let him accept something so utterly ridiculous.

He stood there, frozen in place. The atmosphere in the ruined courtyard grew incredibly awkward.

After a few seconds of tense silence, Chase noticed the blonde’s eyes roll back.

“The idiot passed out. Someone get him some first aid.” He turned around and waved casually at his companions.

The guild members stared blankly for a split second before the reality of the situation crashed over them.

“We won!!!” Cana’s ecstatic shriek shattered the silence.

The courtyard erupted. Exhausted and battered mages threw their arms into the air, roaring in triumph. A crowd swarmed Chase, hoisting him onto their shoulders and tossing him into the night sky, completely ignoring their own injuries to celebrate the end of the grueling civil war.

“Manly! That was a truly magnificent battle, Chase!” Elfman bellowed, flexing his bruised arms.

“Well done! I told you this bastard never disappoints!”

“Damn it! I definitely won’t lose to you in the next tournament!” Natsu yelled, grinning through his bandages.

“Aye! I think so too!” Happy cheered.

Brilliant, relieved smiles painted everyone’s faces. The suffocating tension of the past few hours had finally evaporated.

Of course, there were a few outliers emanating a dark, miserable aura in the corner.

“I really thought Laxus’s high odds would let me make a killing…” Macao wept openly, watching Cana and the others eagerly divide up a massive pile of jewels.

“Gambling addicts always end up with nothing, you know~” Cana hummed happily, flicking a thick stack of banknotes against her palm.

Lucy immediately leaned over, her eyes narrowing. “So your ‘we won’ just now meant winning the betting pool! No wonder you were so excited!”

Truly worthy of being Fairy Tail’s premier tsukkomi, she never missed a beat.

After the chaotic celebration died down, Makarov led his battered children back to the guildhall at the edge of town. While no one was in critical condition, thorough medical check-ups were mandatory to prevent any lingering internal damage.

The one enforcing this rule was Fairy Tail’s medical consultant, Porlyusica. The grumpy, human-hating old woman—who was secretly the Edolas counterpart of the Sky Dragon Grandeeney—commanded absolute authority. Whether out of sheer terror or genuine respect, the usually rowdy guild members sat in complete, obedient silence as she made her rounds.

Chase was among them. Having fought Laxus at full throttle, his body was pushed to its limits. Yet, when Porlyusica approached, he casually waved a hand. “It’s just a little wear and tear.”

He was immediately subjected to a blistering, ten-minute lecture from the old healer.

Properly thoroughly scolded, Chase sat perfectly still, pouting in defeat. The sight of the overpowered S-Class mage looking so deeply wronged sent Lucy and the others into a fit of muffled giggles.

While the medical checks continued, Makarov retreated to his office to call the Mayor of Magnolia. His first order of business was postponing the Fantasia Parade until tomorrow night. His second was negotiating compensation for the massive property damage caused by the Thunder God Tribe.

Backed by the bottomless wealth of the Heartfilia Consortium, the old Guild Master spoke with a booming, confident swagger, completely lacking his usual terrified stammer when discussing repair bills.

News of the Fantasia Parade’s delay swept through Magnolia. The official public excuse was that Makarov had fallen slightly ill. Naturally, this sparked a wildfire of gossip among the townsfolk regarding who would inherit the title of the next Guild Master.

Some proudly championed Laxus, bragging that they had held the boy when he was just a baby. Others fervently supported Erza, arguing that the Fairy Queen was responsible, righteous, and—most —a super beauty.

Interestingly, Gildarts and Chase were universally ignored in these debates. The mere thought of handing the guild over to walking natural disasters known for the “Gildarts Shift” and “Chase’s Rules” made the residents want to pack up and move to another country.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Fairy Tail civil war officially drew to a close.

Having finally been released from Porlyusica’s tyrannical care, Chase walked back to his new home. He had been held back by Makarov for a private conversation regarding Laxus, making him return much later than the others.

He pushed open his front door, immediately noticing the warm lights spilling from his living room.

“Yo, Chase! Welcome back!” Natsu grinned from the couch, practically mummified in fresh bandages.

“Would you like some tea?” Erza, dressed in comfortable casual clothes, calmly handed him a steaming cup of black tea as if she owned the place.

“U-um, Chase… sorry for intruding.” Lucy stood near the wall, her eyes darting around the room in deep guilt.

“Aye! We didn’t trespass, Chase. We were originally going to Lucy’s apartment, but she said we should come here instead!” Happy snitched, a cunning little smirk on his feline face.

“No, no! I just thought your place was more spacious!” Lucy panicked, waving her hands frantically. “Yes! That’s exactly it! Just for the space!”

Chase stared at her.

She just didn’t want these walking disasters wrecking her apartment and leaving her with an eviction notice.

Despite the blatant home invasion, Chase didn’t actually mind. The quiet house felt much warmer with the chaotic noise of his guildmates filling the rooms. Taking the teacup from Erza, he sank into the plush sofa.

“Where’s Gray?” he asked, noticing the missing member of their usual dynamic.

“Right here.”

The bathroom door diagonally across the hall swung wide open. Gray, submerged in Chase’s bathtub, casually raised a hand in greeting. He made absolutely no effort to cover himself.

Lucy shrieked, covering her blushing face, while Erza thoughtfully stroked her chin, noting that Gray’s muscle definition had improved.

“Hey, Chase!” Natsu leaned forward, his grin turning mischievous. “So, how is the old man gonna punish Laxus? He’s definitely gonna make him wear a maid outfit and scrub the whole city, right?!”

The room fell silent. Erza and Lucy perked up, and even Gray leaned over the edge of the tub to listen.

Chase didn’t answer immediately. He took a slow, deliberate sip of his black tea, letting the warmth settle in his chest.

“The Master’s decision is exactly what I predicted,” Chase said quietly. “Laxus is…”

He lowered the cup.

“Expelled from the guild.”
