Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 167

July 31, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 167: The Will That Cannot Be Conveyed Through Words Shall Be Poured Into Fists!

Golden arcs of lightning violently leaped across the charred rim of the deep crater. Hovering in the air above, Laxus looked down through the settling dust, his eyes narrowing at the sight below.

A massive, cracked shield was propped up at a sharp angle. Its stone surface was completely shattered, but beneath its crumbling remnants stood Chase, entirely unharmed.

“Big Shield Gardna,” Laxus muttered, instantly recognizing the phantom artifact that had just absorbed his devastating strike.

“Didn’t you say you wanted me to take that move of yours?” Chase slowly straightened up, brushing a few stray sparks of residual lightning from his coat.

Seeing his relaxed, almost casual demeanor, Laxus’s expression turned frigid. “You mean to say you could have actually dodged?”

“Of course. It’s not like I haven’t fought Mages faster than you.”

Chase’s eyes sharpened. A surging, violent torrent of Magic Power erupted from his core, fracturing the ground beneath his boots. “For example… you have no way to dodge this next move!”

A card materialized. The Right Arm of the Forbidden One equipped itself over his own arm, its ancient bindings instantly peeling back. Under the overwhelming surge of Slifer the Sky Dragon’s God Slayer Magic, the phantom limb was dyed in a fierce, blinding crimson glow.

Preparation complete, Chase stomped heavily against the bedrock. He drew his right fist back and threw a devastating punch through the empty air, aiming directly at the hovering Dragon Slayer!

Whoosh!

The crimson right arm detached and streaked forward like a fired artillery shell. It crossed the distance in a fraction of a second, completely occupying Laxus’s field of vision.

Laxus didn’t even flinch. His body dissolved into pure lightning, shifting just a few inches to the side. The crimson fist roared past him, hitting nothing but empty air.

“I’ll admit the speed is impressive,” Laxus sneered, his body reforming. “But to use a straightforward attack like that in front of me, you’re just being—what?!”

His taunt froze in his throat. His pupils contracted to pinpricks.

A Trap Card—Teleportation Circle—flashed into existence behind him. Down in the crater, Chase’s figure vanished into thin air, instantly swapping places with…

…the crimson right arm that had just missed!

“Slifer the Sky Dragon’s Thunder Stomp!”

The oppressive aura of a god burst forth. Chase materialized precisely where the phantom arm had been, placing him directly above Laxus’s head. His raised right leg manifested the phantom image of a massive, crimson dragon claw, plunging downward with mountain-crushing force.

Caught entirely off guard, Laxus had no time to dissolve into lightning. His only escape route was completely sealed by the massive Right Arm of the Forbidden One, which was now rapidly rocketing back up toward him from below!

Trapped in a flawless pincer, Laxus unleashed a furious roar, detonating a violent sphere of golden lightning to passively shield his entire body.

The attacks from above and below slammed into the electrical net simultaneously.

Amidst the deafening explosion of dense, shrieking arcs, Chase twisted his waist mid-air. He concentrated his center of gravity and every ounce of his Magic Power into his right leg, forcing the phantom dragon claw deeper.

The stalemate lasted only a second. The leather sole of Chase’s boot shattered the golden lightning barrier, crashing squarely into the side of Laxus’s face.

The sheer kinetic force launched Laxus out of the sky at a sharp angle. He tore through the air like a meteor, crashing into the distant mountain forest and detonating into a massive, fiery explosion.

“I told you. You definitely wouldn’t be able to dodge this move.”

Chase landed elegantly on the ruined earth. He raised a hand, running his fingers through his hair with a slightly flamboyant, practiced gesture, instantly returning his messy bangs to normal.

With Laxus’s current arrogant and unruly personality, telling him an attack was undodgeable guaranteed he would stand his ground and try to prove otherwise. He would never choose to simply blast the Right Arm of the Forbidden One apart before it reached him.

The trap had been set the moment Chase uttered that single taunt. The entire combo flowed flawlessly simply because he had a perfect read on Laxus’s massive ego.

“Chase… you damn bastard!”

An enraged roar echoed from the burning forest. Bathed in a terrifying aura of golden lightning, Laxus walked out from the depths of the flaming ruins, his expression twisted into a grimace of pure murder.

Blood trickled down his chin. His words slurred slightly, suggesting a few teeth had been violently relocated. For a Dragon Slayer with a monstrous physique, the internal damage was minor.

What was truly captivating, however, was the distinct, dirt-caked shoe print stamped perfectly across his cheek.

“Oh dear, what happened to you, Master Laxus?” Chase puffed his cheeks, fighting a losing battle against a grin. “Didn’t I remind you to protect your face before the fight?”

He burst out laughing. He really couldn’t hold it in.

“Go to hell!!!”

Ruthlessly mocked, Laxus snapped. His muscles swelled, flickering with blinding, erratic lightning. A violent hurricane of ozone and tearing wind surged outward as he prepared to obliterate everything in his path.

Facing that apocalyptic pressure, Chase’s amusement faded. He slowly dropped his smile, his eyes turning deadly serious.

Jokes aside, a full-power Laxus was incredibly oppressive—especially since Chase hadn’t activated the All Magic card for a full amplification. Yet, even facing that overwhelming pressure, Chase had no intention of backing down. He ignited his own Magic Power, choosing the most direct, brutal path available.

He would clash head-on.

They vanished from their positions simultaneously.

When they reappeared, they were dead center in the wasteland. God Slayer Magic and Dragon Slayer Magic collided like two falling comets.

The resulting shockwave sheared the topsoil off the earth, sweeping out in all directions and causing the entire suburban perimeter to quake violently. The bedrock beneath their feet vaporized, instantly reduced to fine dust under the sheer pressure of their auras.

In the eye of the storm, a crimson fist and a lightning-wreathed fist ground against each other, wantonly bleeding destructive energy into the air.

“You’re just a brat who joined the Guild a few years ago!” Laxus roared over the deafening screech of magic, pulling his other fist back. “I could beat you into the dirt two years ago, and nothing has changed!”

“If you think you can do it, then try it, Laxus!”

A crimson glow flared. Chase raised his own left fist, entwining it in the phantom claws of Slifer the Sky Dragon.

Reaching a silent, violent understanding, they abandoned all further conversation. They threw away their defenses, abandoned their tactical spacing, and began swinging at each other with absolute, insane ferocity.

This was the fundamental reason why Chase, a tactical Card Mage, chose to brawl in the mud with a physical powerhouse like Laxus.

When words failed, the only way to convey their concepts, their stubbornness, and their will was to pour it all into their fists. This was the unique, unspoken romance of Fairy Tail’s men.

“Ora, ora, ora, ora!!!”

Fist winds raged. Shockwaves erupted in rapid succession, tearing the surrounding space into a chaotic blender of red and gold.

In this high-intensity, point-blank meat grinder, every punch landed with bone-rattling force. Both Chase and Laxus took heavy blows to the face, chest, and abdomen. Blood splattered across the dirt, instantly vaporized by the heat of their magic, igniting the primal duel.

Lightning roared. Compared to Laxus, who was battle-hardened and practically lived for close-quarters physical combat, Chase hadn’t possessed God Slayer Magic long enough to match that pure, instinctual brawling stamina. Gradually, the momentum shifted.

After trading hundreds of brutal punches, Chase found himself repeatedly forced back by the explosive weight of Laxus’s lightning-infused hooks.

Lost in the bloodlust of the fight, Laxus stepped hard into Chase’s guard, raising his fist to pursue the advantage and end the resistance once and for all.

But a Magic Card, slowly rotating in the air just above them, suddenly caught his eye.

The magic circle flared to life. Three massive, ethereal swords glowing with blinding holy light descended from the heavens, slamming into the earth around Laxus and releasing a forbidden, binding power that locked his body completely in place.

Swords of Revealing Light.

Chase stumbled back, finally getting a moment to breathe. He raised the back of his hand, wiping a smear of blood from the corner of his mouth as he looked at the paralyzed Dragon Slayer.

He really is the grandson who inherited the Old Man’s power, Chase thought, his chest heaving. Laxus’s Magic Power was so vast and volatile it had required Dragon Lacrima just to safely contain it. He absolutely had the capital to be arrogant. Judging by this raw output, Laxus—even in this stubborn, rebellious phase—was easily on par with Jellal of the Ten Wizard Saints.

If Chase hadn’t acquired a few new high-tier cards after the Tower of Heaven incident to amplify his base power, he might have genuinely lost this physical exchange without relying on his All Magic boost.

“I think I got my point across, right?” Chase asked, looking up at the restrained Lightning Mage.

“Damn you, Chase!” Laxus roared, his muscles bulging as golden lightning fought against the holy blades. “Do you really think you can trap me with this little toy?!”

Chase sighed, dropping his stance.

Right. Guess that wasn’t enough.

“Then let’s keep going!”
