Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 149

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 149: Stinky Card Guy, Go to Hell!

The towering phantom of the Celestial Spirit King hovered above the lake behind the Fairy Tail guild. With his massive arms crossed over his chest, he stood suspended amidst a sea of illusory, shimmering stars.

Beneath his feet, the world had simply stopped. The ripples rising from the lake’s surface were locked in place, and suspended water droplets hung silently in the mid-air, gleaming like frozen glass beads. The sheer presence of the ruler of the Celestial Spirit World descending into the Human World would normally cause catastrophic magical disruptions, especially in a densely populated town like Magnolia. Because of this, the King did not manifest his true physical form, opting instead for a localized astral projection. In this frozen pocket of time, only Celestial Spirits and their contracted mages could perceive his existence or hear his voice.

“Three years! Loke has been suffering for three whole years!”

Lucy stood fearlessly between the kneeling Loke and the towering deity. She tilted her head back, staring resolutely into the glowing eyes of the Celestial Spirit King. “For the sake of a companion, for the sake of Aries, this was completely unavoidable!”

“This old man is also deeply saddened by the pain of his old friend…” The Celestial Spirit King’s voice boomed from the heavens, heavy, indifferent, and entirely calm.

“What old friend? Are you talking about my friend right now? Are you even listening to me, you mustache-faced old man?!” Lucy took a fierce step forward, the water beneath her boots remaining perfectly still.

The Celestial Spirit King’s stoic expression twitched slightly. Mustache-faced… old man?

“Loke is completely innocent. I cannot accept any verdict other than his absolute innocence!” Lucy clenched her fists at her sides. She gritted her teeth, forcing her magical pathways wide open, drawing out Magic Power that far exceeded her physical limits. A blinding golden aura erupted around her. “I absolutely will not accept it!”

“Enough, Lucy, don’t go on!” Loke’s face drained of color. Panic seized his features, and he shouted out in absolute despair. “Only by disappearing like this can my sins be washed away!”

He truly did not want to drag Lucy or the rest of his Fairy Tail companions down with him. His only wish was to fade away quietly into the void, paying the ultimate price for his past.

“Even if you disappear, Karen won’t be revived! Doing this is just adding new sorrow to the world!” Having survived the brutal war with Phantom Lord, Lucy had grown immensely. She stood her ground, retorting at the top of her lungs. “There is absolutely nothing wrong with fighting for your companions!”

Blinding golden light bloomed across the frozen lake. One by one, towering gates materialized in the starry void, and familiar figures stepped through the thresholds.

Aquarius. Taurus. Cancer. Virgo. Plue. Horologium.

The Celestial Spirits felt the sheer, desperate willpower of their master. Responding to Lucy’s reckless mass-summoning, they appeared in unison, standing firmly at her flanks with determined expressions. Though it was only a fleeting moment, the sight of the twinkling constellation gates illuminating the dark lake was stunning.

“Opening multiple gates at once? This is something even Karen couldn’t do…” Loke stared blankly at Lucy’s back, his mouth slightly open in shock.

Even the Celestial Spirit King shifted his massive gaze downward. Through his ancient, deep eyes, he observed the unique fluctuation of Lucy’s Magic Power. It carried a warmth and a fierce loyalty that felt distinctly different from her mother, Layla.

The golden light abruptly shattered. Having completely overdrawn her reserves, Lucy lost all strength in her legs. She collapsed backward, falling straight into Loke’s arms as he scrambled forward to catch her.

Panting heavily, Lucy forced her head up to look at the giant in the sky. “Since you are also a Celestial Spirit, you surely understand… Loke and Aries’ feelings, right?”

The atmosphere instantly thickened, falling into a heavy, oppressive silence.

“To be reprimanded to this extent by an old friend… it seems the only thing wrong here is the rule itself.” The Celestial Spirit King slowly uncrossed his massive arms, lowering them to his sides. “Leo, who committed a crime for the sake of a companion, and the new friend who risked her very life to save Leo. For the sake of this beautiful bond, this matter will be treated as a special exception.”

The giant raised a hand toward the heavens. “Thank the guidance of the stars, Leo. You are acquitted. I permit you to return to the Celestial Spirit World!”

Hearing the absolute decree, Lucy let out a massive breath she didn’t know she was holding. A wide grin broke across her exhausted face, and she weakly threw a thumbs-up at the giant in the starry sky. “Isn’t that kind of statement really cool, mustache guy?”

The Celestial Spirit King’s stoic, tense expression finally cracked. The corners of his mouth curled upward into a wide grin. His two massive white whiskers swayed in the phantom breeze—leaving it entirely unclear whether the hair belonged to a mustache or simply overgrown nose hair.

“But, I…” Loke lowered his head, the heavy weight of self-reproach still anchoring him down. He simply could not believe his sins could be washed away so easily.

“If you truly wish to atone, then from this moment onward, stake your life to protect your new friend.” The Celestial Spirit King’s enormous body began to break apart into glowing stardust, his form gradually dissipating into the night sky. His final words drifted down from the void. “She is a companion worth doing that for, isn’t she?”

The moment the last speck of starlight vanished, the frozen world shattered.

Waves violently surged across the lake, crashing against the shore with a loud splash. The gentle night breeze swept across their faces, bringing the natural sounds of the crickets and the rustling leaves back to life. The flow of time had returned to normal.

“Hey! Lucy! Loke!”

Urgent shouts echoed from the dirt path behind them. Natsu, Gray, Happy, Erza, and Mira sprinted toward the water’s edge, their faces etched with deep worry.

Trailing slightly behind them was Chase. Knowing exactly how this event was supposed to play out, he remained entirely calm, a faint, dry smile hanging on his lips. Judging by the fact that Lucy and Loke were both in one piece, the trial had been resolved successfully.

Still, a small part of him felt a pang of disappointment. He had missed his chance to meet and interact with the Celestial Spirit King. If he could have somehow provoked a fight with a cosmic entity of that caliber, the resulting card drop would have been absolutely legendary. Of course, he also knew he would likely have been beaten into a bloody pulp in the process. The Celestial Spirit King was at least on par with someone like Mard Geer, the Underworld King of Tartaros. Taking on an opponent of that magnitude was still far beyond his current pay grade.

The Fairy Tail group crowded around the two mages. Upon hearing Lucy explain that Loke was completely fine and his exile had been lifted, a collective sigh of relief washed over the guildmates.

“I didn’t expect you to actually be a Celestial Spirit, Loke. Does this mean you turn into a giant, muscular gorilla like Virgo?” Natsu jumped around Loke in circles, his eyes wide with burning curiosity as he poked at Loke’s suit.

“Sorry, Natsu. Although I’m Leo the Lion, I’m a humanoid Celestial Spirit. I don’t transform into animals,” Loke replied, forcing a tired but genuine smile.

“Wahaha! A lion is basically just a giant, grown-up cat! That is so cool!” Happy placed his paws on his cheeks, staring at Loke with absolute longing. The blue Exceed was already picturing his own future as a handsome, suit-wearing feline, preening himself near the water.

Lucy immediately shattered the cat’s beautiful fantasy. “Lions and cats are completely different species! Not to mention Leo is just his constellation codename!”

The only reason Lucy had enough energy to yell was the small vial she had just chugged. Chase had tossed her one of his custom stamina-enhancing potions the moment he arrived, rapidly replenishing her dangerously overdrawn Magic Power.

“What a beautiful golden key. So, does this mean Loke is your Celestial Spirit now, Lucy?” Erza asked, her eyes locking onto the gleaming Leo key resting in Lucy’s palm.

“Yes! He’s a Celestial Spirit, but more, he’s a companion!” Lucy beamed, holding the key close to her chest.

“Wait a second. Then Loke, what about our previous agreement?” Gray crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow at the suited mage.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. I can just have Lucy temporarily break our contract when the time comes,” Loke replied, waving his hand with a matter-of-fact gesture.

Lucy stared at him deadpan. Are you seriously planning to break our contract before the ink is even dry?

“Oh my, in that case, it sounds like Lucy and Loke will be completely inseparable from now on.” Mira pressed her hands to her cheeks, glancing between the two of them with a highly amused, ambiguous sparkle in her eyes.

“Don’t just make things up, Mira!” Lucy waved her hands frantically.

Before she could defend herself further, Loke smoothly turned around and scooped her off her feet, catching her in a perfect princess carry. “Mira is exactly right! From this day forward, I will be Lucy’s exclusive Prince Charming!”

“Hey! Hey! Where did all your tragic sadness from five minutes ago go?! Put me down right now!” Lucy thrashed in his arms, her face flushing bright red.

“Man, I really want my own Celestial Spirit now. Preferably a giant, domineering Fire Dragon,” Natsu complained, crossing his arms behind his head.

“Celestial Spirits are not tools for you to pick fights with!” Lucy yelled over Loke’s shoulder.

Chase watched the chaotic scene unfold, his dry smile widening into a smirk. He casually stuffed his hands into his pockets. “Loke, I speak from personal experience here. If you chuck Lucy up into the air with enough force, you can extract a really top-tier maiden’s scream.”

Lucy’s head snapped toward him, her eyes burning with absolute fury. “Chase, you bastard—no, you Stinky Card Guy, go to hell!”
