Fairy Tail: My Magic is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck — Chapter 127

July 14, 2026 Calculating...

Chapter 127: Chase VS Ikaruga, A Kick to the Gut!

Chase stared down at the cold, elegant swordswoman currently pinned to the ground in front of him.

He recognized her instantly. Ikaruga. One of the Trinity Raven, the elite assassination squad belonging to the dark guild known as the Death’s Head Caucus.

Right now, the Trinity Raven were supposed to be serving Jellal at the Tower of Heaven. For her to leave the island and appear all the way in Magnolia meant one thing: Ultear’s attempt at “saving” Jellal had completely failed.

The outcome didn’t surprise Chase in the slightest. After eight years of relentless brainwashing and manipulation, Jellal’s mind had become hopelessly warped. His dark obsession was rooted far too deeply in his soul to be simply reversed—not even by Ultear, the original mastermind behind his corruption. Jellal’s sheer insanity in the original timeline was proof enough of that.

As for why Jellal had dispatched an elite assassin to kill him? He likely blamed Chase entirely for Ultear’s sudden change of heart after she returned from Galuna Island. The Tower of Heaven was nearing completion, and Jellal desperately needed the Magic Council to fire Etherion to complete the final step. That required Ultear’s continued infiltration and cooperation. It was the linchpin of his entire grand scheme, a phase that absolutely could not afford a single mistake.

To Jellal’s twisted logic, eliminating Chase—the “culprit” who had derailed his pawn—would force Ultear to return to “normal.”

Yet, instead of handling the problem personally, he had sent the Trinity Raven. Was Jellal worried that showing his own face would expose the Tower of Heaven project prematurely, or was he simply looking down on Chase’s strength?

If it was the former, Chase could accept the tactical caution. If it was the latter, he was going to have to deliver a very harsh reality check.

“I didn’t expect Mr. Chase to actually recognize the Death’s Head Caucus. That is truly a great honor for this humble girl.”

Despite being firmly bound by the glowing lines of the Spellbinding Circle, Ikaruga showed zero panic. A dangerous, shallow smile curved her lips as she spoke in a slow, leisurely drawl. “As for who desires your life, please forgive this humble girl for being unable to disclose our client.”

She tilted her head slightly. “Oh, by the way. This humble girl is Ikaruga of the Trinity Raven, the special operations team of the Death’s Head Caucus.”

The exact second Ikaruga finished speaking, the heavy, acrid stench of gunpowder flooded the air. Surging flames ignited the perimeter of the street.

Propelled by the deafening roar of a magical thruster, a massive, muscular man with the head of an owl rocketed straight toward Chase.

“And I am Fukuro, the man who embodies absolute justice!” the assassin bellowed.

“Ugly monstrosity, don’t even think about getting close!”

The moment Fukuro ignited his thrusters, Dark Magician Girl was already in motion. She spun her staff with a flourish, erecting a shimmering pink defensive barrier right in front of herself and Chase.

Fukuro’s massive frame belied his agility. As if anticipating the defensive magic, he fired his secondary thrusters to violently alter his trajectory. He shot ninety degrees straight up into the air, completely bypassing the pink shield, before swooping down from above like a predatory bird.

His target was dead set. Chase.

A massive kinetic impact erupted upon collision. The sheer force sent the surrounding street tiles flying into the air, pushing Chase backward. His boots carved two deep, smoking trenches into the cobblestone.

Dust and shattered rubble filled the air. Just as Chase was about to be shoved completely off the riverbank and smashed into the residential building behind him, he planted his feet. He extended both palms, slamming them directly against the roaring thrusters on the assassin’s back.

Veins bulged thick across Chase’s arms. He let out a low breath, stomping his heel down and completely crushing the hard bedrock of the riverbank.

The backward slide halted instantly.

“What? He actually just—”

Fukuro’s wide, unblinking bird eyes bulged in absolute disbelief.

As professional assassins, the Trinity Raven had conducted a thorough investigation before launching their strike. Their intelligence stated that Chase’s most troublesome aspect was his unpredictable, ever-changing magic cards, while his personal, physical combat ability was relatively weak.

Ikaruga and Fukuro’s strategy from the very beginning had been to overwhelm him with pure speed, closing the distance before he could draw or activate his deck!

The reality of the situation was painfully obvious: their intelligence was fatally flawed.

Refusing to give Fukuro a single second to recover, a heavy, ancient bronze magic circle flared to life beneath Chase’s feet.

Chase kept his left hand clamped over the smoking magical thruster. His right arm suddenly shifted, expanding and transforming into the dark, chain-wrapped limb of the Right Arm of the Forbidden One. He clenched the massive fist, channeling the raw power of the magic card, and brought it crashing down.

The colossal fist connected. The magical thruster crumpled like tin foil, exploding into a shower of shattered steel parts and sparking shrapnel.

Taking the full brunt of the heavy blow, Fukuro coughed up a massive spray of blood. He collapsed heavily at Chase’s feet, his sheer weight spider-webbing the cracked pavement.

“Your justice doesn’t seem to pack much of a punch, does it?”

Chase shook out his right arm, letting the Exodia projection fade, and casually stepped over Fukuro’s unconscious body.

“Master, well done! So cool!” Dark Magician Girl beamed, giving him a bright thumbs-up.

“Exposing your back to a professional assassin is not a good habit, lovely blonde miss.”

The chilling voice sent a spike of ice through Dark Magician Girl. She gasped, hurriedly gripping her staff to cast a spell, but a fierce, blindingly fast slash tore through the air first, cleaving right through her midsection.

“Didn’t you get caught by Master’s trap card—”

Before she could even finish her sentence, Dark Magician Girl’s heavily damaged form shattered with the sound of breaking glass, dissolving into a shower of golden starlight that drifted back into Chase’s deck.

“I am very sorry. Such fragile things cannot trap this humble girl.”

Ikaruga lowered her gaze, calmly brushing the shattered remnants of the Spellbinding Circle off her elegant kimono. She looked up, supreme confidence radiating from her posture. “In this world, there is nothing that this humble girl cannot cut.”

She slowly, deliberately slid her blade back into the scabbard at her waist. Lowering her center of gravity, she locked eyes with Chase and settled into a flawless iaido stance.

An invisible, suffocating pressure instantly flooded the ruined street. Ikaruga drew her sword again. Her movements appeared almost agonizingly slow, carrying a lethal elegance.

Yet the slashes that erupted from the blade were violently fast, tearing through the air with enough force to distort space itself.

“Mugetsu-ryu: Yasha Senku!”

Chase cast a quick sideways glance at the residential building behind him, separated only by the narrow river. He made a decisive move, reaching his right hand into the void.

He pulled a massive, heavy iron shield from a glowing magic circle, slamming it down horizontally in front of him. The weapon of Giant Shield Gardna.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The slashes swept forward like a hurricane of invisible razors. The mere residual wind pressure leaking from the strikes carved the river’s surface and the opposite bank into countless jagged ribbons.

A sharp, metallic crack echoed out. A split second later, the massive shield Chase held shattered into dozens of pieces.

“It seems, Mr. Chase, you are not quite as indifferent to the townspeople as the rumors claim.”

Ikaruga smiled, her tone knowing. She had already gathered intel on Chase’s true nature from observing the residents of Magnolia. Having verified his weakness, the rest of the assassination would be incredibly simple.

She flipped her blade, adjusting her grip to unleash a wide-range destructive slash that would force him to take the hit to protect the buildings behind him.

But Chase had no intention of letting her control the tempo.

A radiant magic circle rotated above them. Three massive swords made of pure, blinding light descended from the sky, their holy aura instantly banishing the shadows and illuminating the entire street.

Ikaruga paused her brewing attack. Her expression remained perfectly flat. She shifted her blade into a reverse grip and swung it lightly toward the glowing swords hovering around her.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Her blade danced. The holy swords shattered instantly, dissolving into a flurry of bright, rotating fragments that drifted down like snow.

“That is the Swords of Revealing Light that seals an opponent’s movements, correct? What a pity. It still could not withstand this humble girl’s—Pfft!!”

Ikaruga’s boast was violently cut off as a sickening impact buried itself deep into her abdomen.

Using the blinding shower of shattered light fragments as a visual cover, Chase had closed the distance in a fraction of a second, driving a brutal mid-air kick straight into her stomach.

When it came to information warfare, he knew vastly more about her than she could ever know about him.

Her blade could slice through Erza’s strongest armors. It was zero surprise that she could cut through the Swords of Revealing Light, especially since Chase hadn’t enhanced the spell with the Book of Secret Arts.

The legendary spell had never been meant to trap her. It was nothing more than a flashbang.
