Chapter 79: The Three-Year Period Has Arrived, Welcome the Holy Son Back

“Uh… it’s Mr. Executor, right?”

Amiya maintained a strained, overly polite smile.

Inside the Human Resources office, the fluorescent lights hummed quietly, illuminating the room long past standard working hours. As the CEO of Rhodes Island, Amiya was currently leading by example with a grueling shift of unpaid overtime—a work ethic that was as moving as it was exhausting.

Lucian and Blaze stood flanking her chair like a pair of loyal bodyguards.

Outside the frosted glass door, a dense cluster of Rhodes Island Operators were practically climbing over each other, peeking through the narrow crack to watch the commotion unfold. Or, officially speaking, to ‘ensure the CEO’s safety.’ In reality, they were all dying of curiosity to see exactly what this sudden, black-haloed Sankta was doing in their headquarters.

In response to Amiya’s question, the tall angel with a distinctly imposing aura stared straight ahead. “Yes. I am an Agent belonging to the Laterano Notarial Hall, codenamed ‘Executor.’ Per orders, I volunteer to join Rhodes Island. My operational history is detailed in my CV; please review it.”

“Ah… um, I’ve read it. Sort of…” Amiya replied, her voice lacking its usual confidence.

She held up a remarkably thick stack of A4 paper. The pages were filled top-to-bottom with his past experiences, printed in a font so perfectly uniform it looked like it had been stamped by a machine.

However, the contents were nothing but a wall of formulaic, sterile task descriptions. October 12: Transfer specified compliant relic to the last heir. March 5: Close enterprise in violation of Notarial Hall contract. June 2: Extract funds from contract object.

It was incredibly concise, yet utterly impossible to decipher what he had actually done in any practical sense.

Amiya rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on, and offered a timid smile. “This… let’s just put the resume aside for now. Mr. Executor, won’t you please take a seat first?”

“Negative,” he answered instantly, his tone devoid of inflection. “I have already begun performing an important target protection mission. My current standing state is optimal for combat readiness and work efficiency.”

“T-Target protection?” Amiya echoed awkwardly. “Mr. Executor, do you have any personal motives for joining Rhodes Island?”

“We respect the personal freedom of all our Operators,” she added quickly. “You can speak freely if you have something on your mind.”

He didn’t so much as blink. “Per instructions, I have no personal motives.”

Amiya faltered. “B-But, you just said you are here to protect an important target, right?”

“Yes. I have already begun performing the important target protection mission.”

“But, but… you also said you volunteered to join Rhodes Island, with no personal motives…”

“Yes. Under orders, I volunteer to join Rhodes Island. And per instructions, I have no personal motives.”

Amiya’s ears drooped slightly. “Then, then, then… please sit?”

“Negative. I have already begun performing the important target protection mission. My current standing state is optimal for work.”

Sob…

Amiya looked around the room with watery eyes, silently pleading for help from Lucian and Blaze.

Lucian immediately tried to play dumb, his eyes darting toward the exit as he subtly shifted his weight to sneak out of the room.

But beneath the desk, Amiya’s small hand shot out and gripped his fingers in a vice.

Because her desperate, pleading look was simply too cute, Lucian’s legs instantly went stiff. He couldn’t bring himself to walk away.

Blaze, on the other hand, had absolutely zero tolerance for seeing their little rabbit bullied. Her reaction was far more explosive.

She slammed her hands down on the desk, rattling the pen cups. “Listen here, you robotic blockhead! You’re clearly just here to cause trouble! Amiya, there’s no need to go easy on this weirdo! Let me call Ace over and we’ll kick his ass right out the door!”

“I harbor no hostile intentions,” Executor stated, his voice not rising a single decibel. “An Agent is forever loyal; an Agent has no secrets. Every word I speak is true and reliable. You can trust me completely.”

Blaze scoffed loudly. “Who in their right mind would trust a sketchy guy whose main argument is ‘you can trust me’!”

Even Blaze, who often preferred letting her chainsaw do the thinking for her, felt she had completely run out of words for this emotionless terminal.

Needing an outlet for her mounting frustration, she whipped her head around and glared daggers at Lucian. “I’m talking to you, Lucian! You’re a Sankta too, right? Then say something! Aren’t you angels all familiar with each other’s weird quirks?”

“Not familiar. Not familiar at all. We really don’t know each other,” Lucian chanted, doing his absolute best to distance himself from the situation.

His blatantly perfunctory attitude only threw fuel on Blaze’s fire. Growling in annoyance, the Feline lunged forward, reaching out to grab him by the collar to shake some sense into him.

Then, the statue moved.

With blinding, lightning-fast speed, Executor stepped directly onto the center of the office desk, vaulted himself in front of Lucian, and clamped an iron grip around Blaze’s outstretched wrist.

The kinetic shift was so sudden that neither Amiya nor Blaze even had time to process the blur of motion. They froze in pure shock.

Oh, for the love of… Lucian groaned internally, wanting nothing more than to bury his face in his hands.

Left with no other choice, he sighed and gave the order. “Let go. Step back.”

“Yes.” Executor’s expression didn’t shift by a single pixel as he released the Feline’s wrist and obediently returned to his original spot on the floor.

Bearing the heavy, scrutinizing gazes of both Amiya and Blaze, Lucian forced a stiff smile onto his face. “Executor. Sit down.”

“Yes.” Executor immediately pulled out a chair and sat down with perfect posture.

After witnessing that display, excluding Blaze who was still blinking in bewildered anger, Amiya understood everything.

She gently tugged at Lucian’s hand under the table, leaning in to whisper softly into his ear. “Brother Lucian… can we actually let him join?”

Lucian nodded helplessly. “There’s no other way around it. If you reject his application, he’ll just stand directly in front of the Rhodes Island landship. Even if he gets crushed into bloody mud by the treads, he’ll keep trying to stick to us. Just leave him to me.”

Being too popular was truly a massive headache. Lucian could only accept his fate.

A short while later, Amiya officially stamped the paperwork, processing Executor’s resume into the system.

She then physically dragged a grumbling Blaze out of the office, closing the door behind them and leaving the space entirely to Lucian and Executor.

The moment the lock clicked and he confirmed they were alone, Executor stood up from his chair. With the fluid grace of a loyal knight, he dropped to one knee before the desk.

“My Lord. Under the direct orders of Lady Saint Joan, I have come to protect your safety.” He kept his head bowed. “Her Ladyship has entrusted me with two messages. Shall I relay them now?”

Lucian let out a long, weary sigh, slumping back into his chair. “So it really is her doing… I specifically told her to stop worrying about me, yet she’s still as meddlesome as ever…”

He propped his chin on his hand, looking thoroughly displeased. “Go ahead. Let’s hear it. If I don’t listen to her nagging now, she’ll probably just fly a gunship over here herself next time.”

“Yes,” Executor replied respectfully. He relayed the message in his signature flat, synthesized cadence. “My Lord. Rhodes Island is an organization with deep, hidden ties to Kazdel. It has been verified by our intelligence that the foundational frame of this landship is an ancient relic excavated from RIM Billiton. There are many lingering doubts and unknown dangers surrounding it. If possible, please keep your distance.”

Lucian raised an eyebrow, a spark of genuine interest cutting through his annoyance. “So this ship really is an ‘Excavated Landship.’ No wonder the architecture felt off.”

He treated the latter half of the warning as mere wind passing by his ears, having absolutely zero intention of keeping his distance from Rhodes Island.

But the first half of the intelligence was quite intriguing. He had known for a long time that Rhodes Island possessed underlying connections to Kazdel.

However, it was fresh news to him that this massive vessel wasn’t actually constructed by the Sarkaz themselves, but was instead a colossal relic dug straight out of the earth.

Terra was a land buried over the bones of a vast number of ancient, highly advanced civilizations. Even the firearms that the Sankta treasured as extensions of their own limbs were originally discovered within ancient ruins. It was precisely because of that miraculous discovery that the angels claimed to be the chosen people of God, developing an incredibly fanatical devotion to their faith.

Lucian mentally filed the information away and waved his hand. “Alright, noted. Let’s hear the second message.”

“Yes.” Executor took a brief breath. “‘Metatron’ is fully prepared to set sail, and can respond to My Lord’s call at any given moment. I wholeheartedly look forward to the time when we shall meet again.”
