Chapter 49: Just Convince Her

“…What is this?”

Blaze leaned closer, her nose twitching with blatant suspicion.

Lucian watched her with a faint, amused smile. With her ears wiggling cautiously and her posture tense, she truly looked like an overgrown, wary feline.

He placed the small bowl of dark, crystallized cubes onto the table. “It’s just some candy I made. Blood-replenishing sugar. Highly nutritious.”

“But the taste is… a bit stimulating,” he added, his tone shifting into a deliberate drawl. “It just depends on whether you have the guts to eat it.”

Blaze’s ears immediately perked up, her competitive streak flaring. She raised a defiant eyebrow. “Is there anything I wouldn’t dare to eat? Nonsense!”

Frowning with sheer stubbornness, she snatched a piece of the dark candy, tossed it into her mouth, and bit down with a loud, aggressive crunch.

‘Mm-hmm, just like that.’ Lucian nodded inwardly, thoroughly satisfied.

He was starting to map out this big cat’s personality perfectly. Rather than coaxing her with gentle words, a little targeted provocation made her infinitely more cooperative. Being soft with her would just be boring; she needed someone to stand firm, to push back against her fiery nature, and only then would she yield. Truly a troublesome, prideful feline.

And right on cue, the reaction hit.

Lucian watched her with a mildly sadistic glint in his eyes. Blaze glared back, her amber eyes burning with fierce rebellion, until her face suddenly contorted.

“Ugh…!? Cough, cough! Cough, cough—ugh, ehhh~!”

Big Sister Hoshiguma, ever the instigator, didn’t miss a beat. She casually slid a glass across the table. “Here, drink some alcohol to wash it down.”

Blaze’s eyes were already watering, tears pricking the corners, but her pride refused to let her back down. She grabbed the glass and forced the liquor down her throat.

Watching this gave Lucian a sudden, incredibly novel sensation. Bullying a woman who usually carried the fierce, untouchable aura of a gang leader… was actually quite enjoyable.

Leaning in closer to the struggling Feline, he added fuel to the fire. “Come, come, drink some soy milk too. We have sweet and savory. Soy milk with sugar only gets better the more you drink.”

“Wuwuwu… I’ll drink it! I’ll drink it just to show you!” she sputtered, her voice a mix of a whine and a roar.

This woman was far too easy to provoke.

Between Lucian’s teasing and Hoshiguma’s relentless enabling, Blaze was soon stuffing everything into her mouth, tears and snot threatening to ruin her tough-girl image.

After downing an ungodly amount of alcohol, she finally seemed to acclimate to the neutralizing, fiery effect of the blood-replenishing sugar. She let out a loud, unladylike burp, her cheeks flushed a deep, intoxicating crimson.

“So hot! So burning!” Blaze groaned, tugging at her collar. “What exactly is this sugar? My whole body is on fire… Ah, I’m really burning up!”

When a woman like this started losing her inhibitions, it was a dangerous situation for any man.

Seeing her fingers hook under the fabric of her top, Lucian quickly lunged forward, wrapping his arms around her to pin her hands down before she could tear her clothes off. “Wait, big sister, calm down! Exusiai, quickly, help me control your—huh?”

Lucian turned his head, only to realize that the energetic Sankta had passed out at some point during the chaos.

Exusiai was curled up on the sofa like a giant caterpillar, tightly hugging a throw pillow. A thin trail of drool escaped her lips as she mumbled soft, rhythmic ‘hoo meow, hoo meow’ sounds in her sleep.

Hoshiguma merely shrugged, taking another calm sip of her drink. “She can’t hold her liquor. I stuffed a few cans into her, and she immediately went down.”

Lucian stared at the Oni in utter despair. “Big Sister Hoshiguma, do you know why only Ch’en and I are actually willing to drink with you?”

In all the time he had known her, Lucian had never once seen Hoshiguma drunk. She didn’t even get slightly flushed. Her tolerance was an absolute abyss.

If it were just that, it would be fine, but she was also a master at persuading others to drink, deriving endless amusement from watching their drunken antics. Lucian couldn’t help but feel that every time she dragged him out to drink until he blacked out, it was purely because she enjoyed seeing him make a fool of himself.

‘…Wait, what exactly am I like when I’m drunk? I shouldn’t be stripping naked and dancing on tables, right?’

A sudden, chilling suspicion crept into his mind. What if Hoshiguma had dozens of gigabytes of blackmail material saved on her phone? What if she decided to use it one day?

Pushing the terrifying thought aside, he struggled to hold the squirming, incredibly plush Feline in his arms and looked around the empty room. “Where’s Croissant? Where’s Texas? Why is everyone gone?”

“Croissant threw up from the drinking and had to tap out,” Hoshiguma replied smoothly. “Texas went back to her room after getting a little tipsy. She’s the most disciplined woman here. Honestly, if you’re looking to get married, I highly recommend her. Just make sure to invite me to the wedding for a drink.”

“Well, thank you very much for the advice, Big Sister Hoshiguma!” Lucian shot back sarcastically. “But I definitely won’t be inviting you when I actually get married!”

So, what now?

Only Lucian and these two formidable women were left in the lounge. He absolutely could not handle them alone.

And to make matters worse, the potent mix of alcohol and the blood-sugar’s intense energy was fully kicking in for Blaze.

“Lucian~!” she slurred, her voice dropping into a husky, uncharacteristically needy register. “I can still drink…!”

The big cat was radiating heat like a furnace, her body practically melting against his. In her feverish state, she must have registered Lucian’s cool body temperature as an ice cube. She wrapped her arms and legs around him, clinging tight to maximize their skin-to-skin contact. The sheer softness and weight of her curves pressed flush against him, sending a jolt of heavy tension through the air.

She buried her flushed face into the crook of his neck, nuzzling deeply—and then, to his shock, she dragged her hot, damp tongue against his pulse point.

“Hoo meow…? This taste…”

Blaze’s brain had completely turned to mush. She pulled back slightly, her hazy amber eyes blinking at him in sluggish confusion.

“So sweet… it’s the taste of the sugar… No, wait, I’m familiar with this taste… This isn’t sugar… Lucian, why does your blood… hiccup~”

Before she could finish the thought, Blaze let out a heavy breath laced with the scent of strong alcohol, went completely limp against him, and fell fast asleep.

Lucian sat there, holding the softly snoring woman. Her full, incredibly feminine figure was undeniably comfortable to hold… Ah, no. This was very troublesome.

He looked up helplessly. “Big Sister Hoshiguma, look at this…”

“I’m not responsible,” Big Sister Hoshiguma declared, immediately raising her hands to distance herself from the situation. A sly, teasing smirk played on her lips. “Do whatever you want. You can carry her back to her room. As long as the person involved doesn’t object, it doesn’t constitute a crime. You just need to convince her.”
