Arknights: The Holy Son's Leisurely Life — Chapter 46
Chapter 46: I Don’t Like Older Women (Big Lie)
Lucian did not know how many times he had sighed today.
To properly entertain Blaze, he had closed the Soy Milk Shop early and ventured out to a nearby convenience store alone to stock up on beer.
Blaze was a severely Infected operator. Although Lucian had never pried into the exact details of her condition, he knew she definitely had a significant amount of Oripathy crystals on her body. To prevent accidental exposure and unnecessary panic, she needed to avoid wandering the bustling streets of Lungmen as much as possible.
Fortunately, Blaze understood her own situation perfectly well. Her only real demand was a steady supply of alcohol.
So, Lucian had Exusiai escort the feline back to his apartment, deciding to host the drinking party safely at home.
Still, he could not help but wonder why a supposedly professional logistics company ended up handling this kind of chaotic off-the-books work. Angelina was underage and strictly forbidden from drinking, while Texas was disciplined enough to keep herself in check. Those two would not be a problem.
But Croissant and Exusiai were completely wild when left to their own devices. Add Blaze to the mix, who was clearly cut from the exact same boisterous cloth, and he essentially had three ticking time bombs sitting in his living room.
‘They better not strip naked and start dancing on the furniture,’ he thought, rubbing his temples.
Lucian let out another long sigh. “But I suppose it is rare for Exusiai to make a new friend like this, so I will indulge her just this once…”
“Haven’t you always indulged her? Is this really a rare occasion? You cannot carry all of this yourself, let me help.”
Lucian smiled helplessly at the familiar voice. “Thanks. I am not trying to deliberately spoil her, it is just that she is incredibly troublesome when she throws a tantrum. And that big cat Blaze, despite being so loud, is undeniably a beauty. She is also an Infected, and I want to ask her a few more things about Rhodes Island… Huh!?”
Like a leaky sieve, Lucian had absentmindedly blurted out everything he was not supposed to say. The realization hit him a second too late.
He snapped his head around, and his cheek immediately brushed against a freezing cold beer can.
A tall, green-haired female ghost stood right behind him, smiling with absolute delight.
Lucian offered an awkward laugh. “Big Sister Hoshiguma, are you some kind of wild boss monster that randomly spawns in convenience stores? This is not even a shop near your home, is it?”
Hoshiguma flashed a victorious, teasing grin. “Actually, I stake out this exact convenience store near your house every single day just hoping to run into you… Do you believe me?”
She rubbed the condensation-covered can against his cheek to cool him down, her tone turning slightly chiding. “Lucian, you really need to undergo some counter-interrogation training. You are far too easy to trick into talking.”
“I am not easy to trick into talking,” Lucian sighed, dodging the icy can and wiping the water droplets from his face. “I am only easy to trick when it is you, Big Sister Hoshiguma.”
He looked at her properly. “If it were anyone else, I would never fall for such a simple trap. It is just that I completely drop my guard around you. Please do not mess with me next time. If you want to know something, just ask me directly.”
Hoshiguma narrowed her eyes, the playful curve of her lips deepening into something far more dangerous. “Only drop your guard around me? You kid, you really know exactly what to say to make me happy.”
Without warning, the towering female officer, standing well over one hundred and eighty centimeters tall, wrapped her arms around Lucian. She pressed her entire body flush against his back.
Her figure was even more formidable and generous than Blaze’s. The sheer physical presence of her curves pressing into him was electrifying, sending a jolt straight to his brain.
Feeling that astonishing, soft mass against his spine, Lucian quickly stammered, “Wait, no, Big Sister Hoshiguma! Men and women are supposed to keep a proper distance. What if your Lungmen Guard Department officers walk by and see us acting like this?!”
“I am simply getting close to my cute little brother. Anyone in the department who dares to gossip about us will get a taste of my Hannya shield.”
Hoshiguma escalated her teasing, completely disregarding the fact that they were standing in the middle of a public supermarket aisle.
She held him securely in her embrace, lowering her head until her lips were hovering just beside his ear. “You just mentioned an Infected, right? Bringing a severely Infected person straight into your home… you are quite bold, aren’t you?”
“…There is a perfectly good reason for this.”
Lucian gave up trying to physically resist her overwhelming strength. Instead, he tilted his head back and leaned right into Hoshiguma’s ear, matching her intimate posture. “I guarantee on my honor that they will not cause any trouble for the city. Please, Big Sister Hoshiguma, just turn a blind eye this one time. Once she has had enough fun, I will send her out quietly. She will not alarm anyone… Big Sister Hoshiguma? Why are you backing away?”
As Lucian spoke, he felt Hoshiguma constantly tilting her head back, pulling away until it was impossible for him to whisper to her anymore.
She completely released her hold on him, bringing a hand up to cover her ear. “Do not lean into my ear to talk. Your breath tickles way too much.”
“Is that not entirely unfair?” Lucian stared at her, completely speechless.
Why was she allowed to whisper sweet threats into his ear, but he was not allowed to do the exact same thing back? How else were they supposed to have a private, secretive conversation? With eye contact alone?
Being the younger brother figure was truly a difficult job. He had to endure all of his Big Sister’s unreasonable antics without complaint. There was simply no helping it.
Hoshiguma quickly tidied her long green hair, using the motion to hide her burning red ears while forcing a nonchalant expression back onto her face.
She cleared her throat. “I understand the situation, but I am still not at ease. As your Big Sister, it is my duty to supervise you properly. These few cases of alcohol you picked out are nowhere near enough for a real party. Leave the rest to me.”
“No, wait, Big Sister Hoshiguma! The people at my house cannot handle your level of drinking… Oh, dear.”
Lucian covered his face, utterly exasperated.
Ignoring his protests, Hoshiguma proceeded to directly empty the convenience store’s entire beer stock. She loaded up a massive cart full of alcohol and skillfully marched her way straight to Lucian’s house.
She pressed the doorbell. A moment later, Angelina’s sweet, angelic voice drifted through the door. “Lucian? I am coming! Ah…”
The door swung open to reveal Angelina wearing a cute cleaning apron, having just been tidying up the living room. She blinked up at the handsome, imposing figure of Hoshiguma, then looked over at the highly embarrassed Lucian, momentarily unsure of what to say.
Hoshiguma tilted her head playfully, her eyes glinting. “Just Lucian, huh? What a cute, intimate way to address him. And what a cute girl. How come I never heard that Penguin Logistics hired someone so young? Have you changed your tastes, Lucian? Are you a lolicon now?”
“What kind of nonsense are you spouting?” Lucian stepped forward to explain himself very seriously. “It is true that Angelina is younger than me, and yes, she is an underage high school student. But I am really not that much older than her, so I definitely do not deserve to be called a lolicon! And what do you mean I changed my tastes? I never liked older women to begin with.”
“Oh? You do not like older women? Is that so?”
Big Sister Hoshiguma smiled. It was a very bright, very beautiful smile.
But for some inexplicable reason, Lucian felt that Hoshiguma was more serious right now than she had ever been in her entire life. There was absolutely zero warmth reaching her eyes.
That smile was infinitely more terrifying than facing down her Hannya shield. She looked like a genuine mother-yaksha ready to claim a soul.
Just as Lucian and Angelina found themselves completely frozen by Hoshiguma’s overwhelming, dark aura, another woman’s voice conveniently boomed from inside the apartment.
“What, what, what? Is Little Lucian back? Come on in, Little Lucian! Big Sister’s mouth is practically watering waiting for that drink… Hmm?”
Hoshiguma slowly raised a single eyebrow. “Ho?”
Blaze, who had eagerly jogged to the front door, suddenly stopped dead in her tracks. The two towering Big Sisters locked eyes, scrutinizing each other up and down. In that split second, they both seemed to realize that the woman standing across from them was not someone to be taken lightly.
Their respective auras flared, growing stronger and more oppressive by the second. The sheer pressure of their blue and red energy was so intense it felt like physical manifestations were about to clash right there in the hallway.
Angelina, caught directly in the crossfire between the two titans, looked like she was about to burst into tears. She shot Lucian a desperate, watery look, silently begging for rescue.
Having absolutely no other choice, Lucian forcefully squeezed his way between the two imposing women. “Alright, let us all just go sit down in the living room, okay! You two can focus on drinking, and I will go straight to the kitchen to make some appetizers for you! Angelina, you go back to your room quickly, I will handle things out here.”
Looking very much like a doomed character who had just triggered every single death flag imaginable, Lucian escorted Angelina to safety with a determined, tragic expression, staying behind to cover their retreat.
