Arknights: I'm Pretty Strong With Minecraft — Chapter 45
Chapter 45: What Is This About Stealing Administrator Privileges?
Rhodes Island, inside the main corridor.
“We are here, finally,” Ivan sighed, rolling his shoulders before unceremoniously dumping his cargo onto the steel floor. A heavy thud echoed through the hallway as W and Skullshatterer hit the deck in a tangled, securely bound heap. He had carried them the entire way back.
“Alright, I will handle the handover from here,” the Doctor said, waving a gloved hand at Ivan while inspecting the two captive Reunion members. “You should go back and get some rest.”
Ivan nodded, too drained to offer a witty remark. He turned on his heel and trudged toward the dormitory sector, his mind entirely focused on collapsing into a soft mattress.
Meanwhile, deep within Kal’tsit’s office.
The heavy silence was shattered. The office door flew open with a violent crash, bouncing off the wall.
A young Rhodes Island Operator rushed inside, his face drained of color, chest heaving as he gasped for air. He pointed a trembling finger back down the hallway, his voice cracking under the weight of sheer panic.
“N-no… this is bad! Dr. Kal’tsit!”
“O-outside! There are so many Reunion Movement soldiers!”
“The Reunion Movement… they have attacked! It is a massive, dark horde!”
Kal’tsit’s pen, halfway through signing a medical report, stopped moving.
She slowly raised her head. A brief flicker of genuine confusion crossed her emerald eyes, quickly melting into a deep, bone-deep exhaustion. She raised a hand, gently pressing her fingertips against her temples to massage the incoming headache.
She did not even need to ask. A ‘surprise’ of this ridiculous scale was one hundred percent Ivan’s doing.
Rising from her chair with a completely blank expression, she walked around her desk and spoke in a flat, measured tone.
“Let us go. Follow me to take a look.”
Ivan remained completely oblivious to the chaos brewing outside.
He pushed open the door to his assigned dorm room and kicked it shut behind him.
“Ah… finally here…”
He threw himself heavily onto the single bed, sinking into the mattress with a long, satisfied sigh.
“I will just rest for a bit… then head to the cafeteria to find something to eat…”
A crushing wave of fatigue washed over him, pulling at his consciousness like a riptide. His eyelids grew impossibly heavy.
“Why… am I suddenly so sleepy…”
“Just… a quick nap…”
The world faded to black, only to be replaced by an endless, empty void.
“I asked you to come, and you completely forgot about it. You had no intention of doing this at all, did you?”
The voice belonged to Him. It was low, echoing through the space with a clear, icy edge of displeasure.
Ivan scratched the back of his head awkwardly, his eyes darting around the empty space as he tried to laugh it off. “Well… hehe, isn’t it just because I have been a little busy lately? I had no time… what with all the saving people and fighting for my life…”
“Enough with the excuses,” Him interrupted coldly. “Steve should have mentioned this to you beforehand. It is time to prepare for the next step of the trial.”
Him paused, his glowing white eyes narrowing slightly in the dark. “Steve and I cannot manifest outside for now. And Notch is currently attempting to seize the Administrator Authority of your world.”
Ivan snapped his head up, all traces of sleepiness vanishing into pure disbelief.
“Administrator Authority? Can… can someone actually just steal something like that?!” The concept completely broke Ivan’s understanding of how reality worked.
“Of course.”
“Have you not noticed that you have already unlocked the Command Block?”
[Command Block]
[Unlock Progress: 5%]
Ivan summoned his system interface. Sure enough, the glowing text hovered right in front of him. His pupils contracted in shock.
“It is really there… The progress is already at five percent?”
“Yes,” Him replied. “According to Notch, once that progress reaches twenty percent, you should be able to begin interfering with the basic rules of that world. For example, simply manipulating the weather at will.”
“When the progress crosses the halfway mark and reaches fifty percent, you can even briefly activate Creative Mode, though the duration will be extremely short.”
“Huh?!” Ivan shouted. “Creative Mode?! That… that means no more pretending! That is just outright cheating!”
“Calm down. That step is still a long way off,” Him said dismissively. “Right now, you need to focus and prepare for the trial. Do you not want your Blade of the God of War?”
Before Ivan could respond, Him casually swiped a hand through the air. A pitch-black longsword materialized from the void and shot directly toward Ivan.
“Use this Blade of Slaughter for now. Did you not lend your original weapon to that fox? It does not matter, we have plenty of these standard-issue weapons in storage.”
Ivan caught the dark blade by the hilt and gave a firm nod. “Alright, thanks.”
At that moment, Steve’s steady, blocky figure approached from the distant edges of the white space.
“Ready?” Steve asked.
“Almost. Bring it on!” Ivan declared, dropping into a combat stance.
As the words left his mouth, the surrounding void began to warp and shift dramatically. The empty space fractured, rapidly assembling into a peculiar, massive arena constructed entirely out of countless blocks.
Steve made no unnecessary movements. He simply raised his hand, and a secondary projection rapidly materialized right in front of him.
This new ‘Steve’ was different. It radiated a furious, violently aggressive aura, its eyes burning with hostility. In its pixelated grip, it held the legendary Blade of the God of War.
“This is a data projection of my past angry persona,” Steve explained calmly from the sidelines. “Defeat him, and the Blade of the God of War will be yours.”
“Wait, no?! Huh?” Ivan balked, lowering his sword slightly. “You want me to fight that? Are you sure this is a trial and not a murder attempt?”
“Do not worry. There is no death count here. You can challenge him infinitely until you succeed.”
Ivan’s face fell into a miserable grimace. He let out a long whine. “But… but! Even if getting injured here will not actually cripple me in the real world, the pain is still real! Getting cut even once hurts like hell!”
Him’s freezing voice, now laced with heavy impatience, echoed from the void above.
“Stop talking and start fighting!”
The projection did not wait. Dragging the Blade of the God of War along the blocky floor, Angry Steve charged at Ivan with terrifying, unnatural speed.
Ivan’s pupils shrank to pinpricks. Pure survival instinct took over, and he instantly raised the Blade of Slaughter to guard his chest.
He barely managed to parry the opening heavy slash.
Clang!
The sheer kinetic force of the collision sent a violent shockwave up Ivan’s arms, leaving the webbing between his thumb and forefinger entirely numb.
There was zero time to catch his breath. The projected Steve unleashed a relentless storm of strikes, each swing of the Blade of the God of War calculatingly aimed at Ivan’s vital points.
Ivan was forced backward, his boots sliding across the blocks as he desperately blocked and deflected, completely trapped in a passive defensive rhythm.
‘This will not work!’
Ivan gritted his teeth. Exploiting a split-second gap after deflecting a downward chop, he dropped his left hand and slapped the ground hard.
A massive pillar of Obsidian instantly materialized, erupting from the floor to stand directly between him and Steve, completely blocking the attacker’s path.
However, Angry Steve did not even flinch.
The Blade of the God of War flashed in his hand, instantly vanishing and being replaced by a glowing, enchanted Diamond Pickaxe.
The heavy pickaxe head slammed directly into the dark purple block.
Crack!
The supposedly indestructible Obsidian shattered into pieces as easily as brittle sandstone.
“No way?!” Ivan yelled, his eyes bugging out. “Even Obsidian gets broken instantly? Just how broken is this projection?!”
The very millisecond the Obsidian crumbled, the Diamond Pickaxe vanished. The Blade of the God of War reappeared in Steve’s grip, carrying an even fiercer, deadlier momentum as it cleaved downward through the falling debris.
In that critical, life-or-death fraction of a second, Ivan whipped an Ender Pearl toward his back right side.
Snap!
The pearl shattered against the ground. The spatial magic grabbed Ivan’s body, violently teleporting him away at the very last possible moment.
The razor edge of the incoming sword literally grazed the tip of Ivan’s nose before burying itself deep into the blocks where he had just been standing.
“That was close… that was way too close…” Ivan gasped, a cold sweat breaking out across his back.
But before he could even steady his breathing, the sight ahead completely stunned him.
Across the arena, Angry Steve was attaching the hilt of the Blade of the God of War… to the hook of a Fishing Rod?!
The projection then began spinning the rod, whipping the legendary sword through the air like a deadly meteor hammer. The blade whistled sharply as it cut through the wind.
“Huh??? You can do that too?!” Ivan’s jaw practically hit the floor.
The very next second, Steve violently cast the line forward.
The hook, securely wrapped around the Blade of the God of War, shot across the arena, hurtling directly toward Ivan’s chest at blinding speed.
There was no time to dodge. There was no space to run.
Ivan tightened his grip on the Blade of Slaughter in his right hand, holding it horizontally across his chest. With his left hand, he reached back and drew a second blade from his inventory!
He crossed the two dark swords in an X-guard just as the projectile arrived.
Clang!!!!
A deafening, explosive shriek of metal grinding against metal tore through the arena. Showers of bright orange sparks exploded outward from the impact zone.
The spinning Blade of the God of War was perfectly caught in the crossguard. The immense, crushing weight of the strike forced Ivan’s arms to buckle slightly, his boots grinding into the floor.
But he held his ground. He steadily absorbed the devastating blow.
A fierce, adrenaline-fueled grin broke across Ivan’s face. He looked up and shouted directly at the furious projection.
“What do you say to that? This is MOD divine power!”
