Arknights: I'm Pretty Strong With Minecraft — Chapter 1
Chapter 1: MC Arknights
The world to the left, Rhodes Island to the right. No matter which side you choose, please remember that Rhodes Island serves every Infected on Terra.
Hesitation, companionship,.
Thank you all for always being here, Doctors.
That was the promotional tagline, anyway. For Ivan, his reality was a bit more pathetic. Due to long-term late nights, constantly running Arknights annihilation missions on his phone while simultaneously grinding a hardcore Minecraft world on his PC, his heart simply gave out.
He died without even leaving his gaming chair.
When Ivan slowly opened his eyes, what greeted him was not the familiar glow of his dual monitors. It was a desolate ruin, choked with airborne dust and the heavy, metallic stench of decay.
Ivan looked around in astonishment, coughing as the ash coated his throat, trying to understand what was going on.
He peered outside a shattered window frame and saw a group of people dressed in white cloaks and red masks, patrolling back and forth through the rubble.
Looking at them, Ivan felt a cold knot of doubt form in his chest.
Are those…
The Reunion Movement?
Is this Arknights?
No, where did this take me? Is this still Earth?
Ivan slowly stood up from the cold ground, taking a deep breath to force his racing heart to calm down.
Then, he cautiously took a step, intending to sneak toward the doorway and slip away unnoticed.
However, just as he was about to step out of the room, fate decided to play a cruel little joke on him.
Ivan’s foot accidentally stepped on a loose piece of concrete rubble, producing a sharp, crisp crack that echoed loudly through the dead street.
“Who’s there? Come out!” a furious shout rang out immediately.
‘Damn it, they heard that?’ he cursed inwardly.
Time was short, allowing absolutely no room for hesitation.
If he was caught by the Reunion Movement, a group of violent, Infected terrorists, he would be completely doomed.
He had to leave here immediately. He absolutely couldn’t let them catch him. He had to run, and run fast.
“Nigerundayo!”
“Stop! Halt!”
The Reunion Movement soldiers behind him were full of anger, roaring incessantly as they gave chase.
It was as if Ivan had an irreconcilable blood feud with them.
Hearing the heavy boots pounding the pavement behind him, Ivan’s chest tightened, and he threw a panicked glance over his shoulder.
“No, what the hell, why are there so many of you?!”
He saw a massive group of fierce-looking Reunion soldiers charging toward him aggressively, waving rusted blades and crude weapons.
“No way, buddies, when did I even offend you guys? Did I grief your base? Did I steal your diamonds?!”
Ivan shouted, his lungs burning as he ran desperately through the ruined streets.
“Why are you guys chasing me so relentlessly?!”
Seeing that the vicious mob of Reunion soldiers was closing the distance, Ivan pushed his legs harder.
His heart beat faster and faster, and large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, stinging his eyes.
“No, no, I can’t run anymore.”
Just as he rounded a corner, another large group of Reunion Movement soldiers appeared directly in front of him, completely blocking the path. They held various lethal weapons at the ready.
In the center of this new group of soldiers, an Ursus mother and her bear-eared daughter were tightly surrounded.
The mother held her daughter tightly against her chest, her face pale and full of absolute terror and despair.
She looked up at the surrounding Reunion soldiers, speaking in a trembling, pleading voice. “Please… please let us go. If you want to kill someone, just kill me. Please, I beg you, let my child go.”
However, the Reunion Movement soldiers remained completely unmoved. They looked coldly at the weeping mother and daughter, their weapons still held tightly, showing no sign of mercy.
Just as the two sides were locked in this grim stalemate, the frantic sound of Ivan’s running footsteps echoed from the alleyway.
At this moment, the Reunion soldiers in front noticed the sudden commotion.
They all turned their heads, their cold gazes locking onto the exhausted, escaping Ivan.
“Stop right there! Don’t move!”
A furious shout suddenly erupted from the front, hitting Ivan’s ears like an exploding thunderclap.
Ivan slammed on his brakes, his sneakers skidding against the dirt. He looked closely and saw a Reunion soldier standing just a few feet away, glaring at him fiercely with a long, bloodstained sword gripped tightly in his hands.
“Yamero.”
Ivan’s heart instantly jumped into his throat, and a fresh layer of cold sweat broke out across his skin.
He forced himself to calm down, squeezing out an awkward smile that looked much uglier than if he were crying.
He raised his hands and stammered. “Uh, I was just passing by… do you believe me?”
However, the Reunion soldier completely ignored Ivan’s excuse. His eyes were still burning with hostility, and he showed absolutely no intention of lowering his blade.
Seeing this scene unfold, Ivan’s mind began to race. An Ursus mother and daughter, surrounded by the Reunion Movement in a ruined city.
It seemed that the current plot timeline was the very beginning of the Chernobog incident, right before the rescue of the Doctor. According to the game’s script, this Ursus mother and daughter were supposed to be saved by Rhodes Island operators.
Just as Ivan was lost in his thoughts, the Reunion soldier lunged forward with terrifying speed.
Ivan had no time to react. He only saw a blur before his eyes, and then a huge force slammed into his chest, throwing him violently to the ground.
Immediately after, his hands were roughly grabbed and twisted painfully behind his back.
“Ouch, ouch, hey, watch the shoulders!”
Ivan struggled desperately, but the infected soldier was incredibly strong. His gamer physique offered zero resistance, making his struggles completely futile.
Before long, Ivan was dragged over and thrown into the dirt right next to the Ursus mother and daughter, tossed aside like a lamb waiting for the slaughter.
The Ursus mother and daughter were still desperately pleading with their captors, their voices cracking with despair and fear.
“What nonsense are you talking about here? Let’s stop wasting time and start with this kid!” the lead soldier barked, raising his weapon toward the little girl.
Just then, another Reunion soldier suddenly reached out and stopped him.
“Hey, we’ve already killed a lot of people today, haven’t we?” There was a distinct hint of reluctance in this younger soldier’s voice.
However, the Ursus soldier holding the sharp blade completely ignored the dissuasion. He violently shoved his comrade away, stepping forward and raising his sword high into the air, preparing to strike down the defenseless mother and daughter.
Ivan’s heart rate rapidly increased, his insides twisting with sheer tension and anxiety.
‘This… this isn’t right! At this exact time, Amiya and the people from Rhodes Island should have arrived, right? Aren’t you guys going to drop from the sky and save us, brother?!’
Ivan screamed in his heart, his eyes wide.
Watching the cruel blade about to swing down mercilessly, the mother and daughter closed their eyes in fright, trembling as they resigned themselves to their grim fate.
Just at this critical, heart-stopping moment, a strange, pixelated object materialized out of thin air.
A blocky, low-resolution wooden sword stood firmly between the mother and daughter, effortlessly blocking the fatal blow with a dull, hollow thud.
Ivan’s eyes lit up.
‘The cheats have arrived!’
