Chapter 15: Asagiri Will Bully All of Shuchiin Academy Equally

“A transfer?”

“Wait a minute… this guy is an external student? No wonder I have absolutely no impression of him…”

“Are you kidding me? A transfer student placed directly into Class A? What is the administration thinking?”

“Well, that explains how he could do something so outrageous. He’s an outsider…”

The moment Asagiri casually dropped his status as a transfer student, the atmosphere in the classroom shifted. The reactions rippling through the rows of desks were subtle but sharp, laced with a sudden, collective alienation.

Shuchiin Academy might have stood at the absolute pinnacle of high schools in the Sakura Province, but it carried its own deep-seated flaws. Chief among them was the invisible, rigid caste system dividing the student body into two distinct factions: the pure-bloods and the mixed-bloods.

Pure students were those like Kaguya Shinomiya, elites who had been groomed within the academy’s walls since their days in the Shuchiin Elementary School, moving straight up the escalator system.

Transfer students, on the other hand, were outsiders like Asagiri Utsunomiya. They were the anomalies who had spent their middle school years elsewhere, only breaking into Shuchiin for high school through sheer academic brute force.

Officially, the academy’s administration treated both factions with absolute equality. Unofficially, the student body enforced a quiet, suffocating exclusivity. Throughout the long, storied history of Shuchiin Academy, only two transfer students had ever managed to climb to the position of Student Council President. One of those two had been ruthlessly ousted from the seat purely because of his transfer status, failing to survive even a single semester in office.

Noticing the temperature in the room dropping and the stares turning subtly hostile, Asagiri remained entirely unfazed. In fact, a faint, mocking smile tugged at his lips.

Kaguya observed him quietly from her seat. She assumed his self-introduction had concluded. She was entirely mistaken. This was merely the wind-up before Asagiri unleashed his true nature.

“Looking at your expressions, it seems you all harbor some rather strong prejudices against transfer students.”

Asagiri leaned back in his chair, his posture lazy and utterly relaxed. He scanned the faces of his new classmates, his tone light and conversational.

“Of course, I can completely understand your feelings. The available seats in Shuchiin Academy’s high school division are strictly limited. For every external student who transfers in, one of your internal middle school juniors gets squeezed out. I imagine quite a few of you have friends who failed to make the cut for high school, right? But…”

He paused. The casual warmth vanished from his voice, replaced by a deadpan, surgical coldness that instantly darkened the expressions of everyone listening.

“Ultimately, isn’t that just because those people were entirely useless?”

“You… what did you just say?!”

A male student sitting two rows down slammed his hands onto his desk and shot to his feet. His face was flushed with sudden anger. Clearly, he was exactly the type of person Asagiri had just described—someone whose close friends had been eliminated during the transition exams.

“What, am I wrong?” Asagiri asked, tilting his head slightly.

“Of course you’re wrong!” The male student’s voice cracked slightly, his emotions boiling over. “If it wasn’t for you outsiders stealing the spots, how could they…”

“Huh? Isn’t Shuchiin’s middle school division supposed to be the absolute best?”

Asagiri cut him off effortlessly, his smile returning, sharper than before.

“They enjoyed superior educational resources. They studied in a flawless environment. They even had the massive advantage of an internal academic record. Yet, despite holding all those winning cards, they still failed to meet the admission standards for the high school division. Doesn’t that simply prove they were useless? Rotten wood that cannot be carved? That is why they were eliminated.”

“That…” The male student choked on his words, his face turning pale as he struggled to find a logical counterargument.

Seeing the boy utterly defenseless, Asagiri decided to press the advantage and completely dismantle him.

“Or perhaps you don’t actually think Shuchiin’s middle school is the best? Oh, I see. You are publicly criticizing the academy’s educational standards.”

Panic flashed across the student’s face. “I… I didn’t mean that at all!”

“Then what exactly do you mean? What are your true intentions here? Are you a spy sent from Hogwarts? Hmm?”

Having shattered the boy’s psychological defenses with a single-target strike, Asagiri smoothly pivoted, expanding his verbal assault into a massive area-of-effect attack against the entire room.

“Ultimately, this entire pure-blood and mixed-blood hierarchy is childish and pathetic. People who cling to this kind of tribal thinking are just clowns. You are useless on your own, so you desperately try to manufacture a sense of superiority by huddling together for warmth.”

He let out a dry, dismissive scoff.

“Still obsessing over pure-bloods and mixed-bloods in this day and age? What, are you Death Eaters? If a transfer student existing offends you this much, I highly suggest you get your brains scanned and book a hospital bed early.”

Dead silence fell over the classroom. The sheer aggression and flawless logic behind Asagiri’s words left the pure students entirely muted.

Sitting quietly at her desk, Kaguya Shinomiya—a pure student herself—found herself deeply agreeing with his assessment.

Her personal philosophy was incredibly simple. It was because they were excellent that they earned the right to be pure students, not the other way around. If an internal student was not excellent enough to meet the high school’s requirements, then it was only natural for the academy to discard them. Blaming transfer students for taking up admission spots was the logic of a sore loser. It was utterly foolish.

However, while Asagiri’s logic was perfectly sound, his delivery was practically suicidal.

He was an incredibly arrogant person. Securing the top score in the entrance exams as an outsider proved he had the absolute ability to back up that arrogance. Yet, dropping such highly inflammatory remarks on his very first day was guaranteed to breed deep resentment and disgust among the pure student majority.

Shuchiin Academy enforced exceptionally strict rules. Physical brawls and outright violence were practically nonexistent. But high society teenagers possessed countless other methods to break someone.

The morning orientation sessions eventually drew to a close. The first day consisted entirely of self-introductions, electing class committee members, and general adaptation. With no formal academic classes scheduled for the afternoon, the students were granted free time.

New students were encouraged to use these hours to explore the various clubs and associations. Joining a club was entirely optional; Shuchiin did not force extracurriculars on anyone. The standard school day ran from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon, with a generous hour-long lunch break in between. On the surface, it seemed far more relaxed than a standard Japanese high school, but this was simply a reflection of Shuchiin’s unique educational philosophy.

Students who wished to pursue intense academic study could use their after-school hours to attend specialized elective courses. Those with unique talents could dedicate their time to club activities, striving to secure national competition trophies for the academy’s glory. Despite being a high school, Shuchiin operated on a schedule closely resembling a university.

As the classroom slowly emptied out, Kaguya gathered her belongings. She was just about to stand up when her sharp eyes caught a subtle movement near the back door.

A male student was lingering just outside the frame. In his hand, he held a large water cup. The lid was completely unscrewed and discarded. He stood perfectly still, his posture tense, clearly waiting for a specific target to walk through that door.

‘So that is how it begins…’

Kaguya shifted her gaze toward Asagiri. The arrogant transfer student had just slung his satchel over his shoulder and was casually making his way toward the back exit, completely unaware of the trap waiting just around the corner. Someone had already decided to teach the outsider a lesson.

Under normal circumstances, Kaguya would never lower herself to interfere in such petty, low-level squabbles. But this was different.

Asagiri Utsunomiya was the man who had stolen the first-place rank from her in the entrance exams.

She absolutely refused to let him be driven out of the academy by cheap bullying before the spring exams arrived. If he dropped out now, she would permanently lose her chance to crush him academically and wipe away the stain of her previous defeat.

Her eyes narrowed slightly. Making her decision, Kaguya adjusted her grip on her bag and stepped smoothly into the aisle, accelerating her pace to intercept the doorway before Asagiri could walk into the ambush.
