Chapter 51: Kyoto’s First Shocking Punch

The words had barely left his mouth when Yozora vanished. He reappeared instantly in front of another kidnapper, his right hand shooting out to clamp down over the man’s face. With a casual flick of his wrist, Yozora slammed the man’s skull into the concrete wall, painting the surface with a sudden burst of crimson.

“Damn it!”

The remaining criminals finally snapped out of their paralyzed stupor. The leader of the kidnappers, his eyes bloodshot with panic, raised his semi-automatic rifle, locked his sights on Yozora, and pulled the trigger without a second of hesitation.

“Die! Just die!”

Deafening gunshots tore through the room, accompanied by blinding flashes of fire from the muzzle. A chaotic volley of bullets sprayed across the space. The leader’s aim was frantic and sloppy, but given the sheer volume of fire, at least a fifth of the lethal projectiles ripped straight toward where Yozora stood.

Facing the incoming barrage, Yozora did not even bother to speak. He simply stood his ground.

In a blink, the towering figure of Hachishaku materialized directly in front of him, acting as an impenetrable shield.

The bullets slammed into Hachishaku’s pale flesh one after another. The impact merely caused the towering evil spirit to furrow her brows in mild annoyance.

A heavy silence fell over the room. Three or four seconds ticked by. Then, with a series of crisp metallic clinks, the deformed lead bullets embedded in Hachishaku’s body were forcefully expelled, dropping harmlessly to the floor.

The bullet holes marring her skin stitched themselves back together at a visible, unnatural speed.

Under the universal rules of the supernatural, as long as they could be seen, evil spirits possessed the physical density to harm humans, and humans could inflict physical damage upon evil spirits in return.

However, only those with true psychic power could actually kill an evil spirit.

If the roles were reversed and Yozora had been the one firing that ordinary rifle, his spiritual energy would have coated the bullets. A single shot from him would have put Hachishaku at genuine risk of having her soul shattered and dissipated into nothingness.

The deadly factor was never the weapon itself, but the entity pulling the trigger.

From the very first second, this had never been a fair fight. For these ordinary, mortal kidnappers, victory was a literal impossibility.

Less than seven seconds passed from the moment Hachishaku and the Pale Ghost Hand were summoned to the moment the slaughter concluded.

Seven seconds.

All twenty-three armed kidnappers lay dead, their bodies twisted and torn apart in extremely gruesome, stomach-churning ways.

Yozora casually stepped over a severed limb, turned around to face the huddled mass of hijacked teachers and students, and let out a light, breathy chuckle.

“What, aren’t you leaving? Are you waiting around for dinner?”

The surviving staff of the Kyoto Municipal Kindergarten finally registered his words. They stared at the absolute bloodbath painting the floor just a few feet away, desperately swallowing down the rising bile and terror that threatened to make them vomit. Snapping into survival mode, the teachers hurriedly gathered the crying children and began leading them toward the exit.

Watching the orderly evacuation, Yozora nodded in quiet approval. ‘It really is the best kindergarten in Kyoto. The quality of these teachers is surprisingly high.’

To maintain their composure enough to focus on the children’s safety instead of just running for their own lives in the middle of a literal slaughterhouse was no small feat.

Just as the last group was leaving, a cute little girl with light blue hair carefully broke away from the line. She timidly approached Yozora and reached out to tug on his sleeve.

“Um… Big brother.”

“What’s wrong, little sister?”

The little girl looked up at him with wide, shy eyes, her voice trembling slightly as she whispered her question.

“Tha… thank you for saving us, Big brother. Are you a hero?”

Yozora reached down and gently patted the little girl’s head. He chuckled softly and shook his head.

“No, I’m just a passing Kamen Rider.”

“Kamen… Rider?”

“Just kidding. Hurry up and leave with your teacher.”

The little girl nodded obediently. When she reached the doorway, she turned back to look at Yozora one last time, waving her small hand with a sweet smile.

“Goodbye, Big brother.”

“Bye-bye.”

Once the blue-haired girl was completely out of sight, Yozora sucked in a sharp, deep breath, his shoulders tensing up.

It was not because he harbored any strange, unspeakable fetishes.

It was simply that the little girl’s continuous, innocent repetition of the words ‘Big brother’ had violently triggered a very specific, deeply buried memory in his mind. It was a memory he absolutely refused to recall, and the sheer mental recoil almost sent him into a full-blown PTSD attack right there in the hallway.

Shaking off the phantom trauma, Yozora scanned the room. The hostages were gone, but he noticed one person left behind. A beautiful teacher was sitting on the cold floor. She wore a tight, black hip-hugging skirt, sheer black stockings, and a pair of glossy patent leather high heels. Her curvaceous figure was slumped against the wall as she delicately rubbed her ankle, her slender eyebrows furrowed in a picture of perfect distress.

“What’s wrong?” Yozora asked, walking over.

Hearing his voice, the teacher’s long, fair fingers trailed gracefully down her stocking-clad calf. She looked up at him with a pitifully alluring gaze and spoke with a soft, breathy whimper.

“My… my ankle is sprained. Could I trouble you to help me up?”

“Of course.”

Yozora put on a perfectly enchanted expression, looking every bit like a man completely captivated by her mature beauty. He leaned over and offered his hands to help her to her feet.

Whether by genuine accident or calculated design, the moment she stood, her ankle gave out. She stumbled forward, and a very prominent, incredibly soft part of her chest pressed heavily against his arm, rubbing against him as she caught her balance.

“So-sorry.”

The teacher’s face flushed a brilliant shade of crimson. She leaned in close, her warm, sweet breath brushing against Yozora’s ear as she whispered.

“It’s fine, no need to apologize,” Yozora replied smoothly. “Are you a teacher here?”

“Yes, I am.”

Hearing her confirmation, Yozora let out a low chuckle and waved his hand dismissively. Beneath the expressionless mask of his face, a deeply cruel and merciless light ignited in his eyes.

“No need to apologize…”

“Just let me devour you.”

Before the seductive teacher could even process the shift in his tone, Yozora’s body coiled like a spring. He suddenly threw a devastating right punch, burying his fist deep into her soft abdomen with bone-shattering force.

The impact doubled her over, but before she could drop, Yozora followed up with a brutal left uppercut that launched her entire body off the ground.

“First move, Intimidating Blow!”

While the teacher was suspended in mid-air, her feet completely off the floor, Yozora extended his right hand like a vicious claw, grabbed her by the collar, and violently yanked her back down toward him.

“Second move, Crushing Hand!”

With a sickening, muffled thud, Yozora channeled his full physical strength into a left straight punch, driving it squarely into the center of the teacher’s chest.

“Third move, Charged Punch!”

Yozora offered his target absolutely zero window to recover. The fluidity of his combo was nothing short of seamless, like a glitched fighting game character locking an opponent in an infinite juggle. He grabbed the stunned, breathless woman, hoisted her effortlessly onto his shoulder, and with a terrifyingly graceful pivot, slammed her body into the floor with the force of a falling meteor.

The sheer kinetic energy of the impact was so overwhelming that the solid marble floor beneath them spider-webbed into countless fine cracks.

“Final move, impressive!”

The sheer speed, brutality, and flawless execution of the combo left both Hachishaku and the Pale Ghost Hand standing on the sidelines, completely dumbfounded.

Hachishaku, in particular, stared at the cratered floor in absolute silence. As a female evil spirit herself, she could not shake the lingering dread that this specific sequence of attacks would deal exceptionally critical damage to her.

This absolute violation of physics and mercy would forever be known as the first shocking punch at Kyoto Municipal Kindergarten.

A second later, the atmosphere in the room plummeted.

The beautiful teacher lying broken in the center of the crater suddenly began to twitch. Her limbs twisted and snapped at impossible, eerie angles.

The alluring skin and curvaceous figure melted away, revealing the grotesque truth beneath the disguise. A horrifying evil spirit clawed its way out of the illusion. Its hair was a tangled, filthy mess, its neck elongated and slithered like the body of a snake, and pale, jagged fangs reflected a cold, deadly gleam. Its face was that of a hellish demon, its eyes burning with bottomless malice, set into a rotting, dark green body.

“Wh-why…”

The evil spirit rasped, its voice a horrific gurgle. Having absorbed the full, unmitigated force of Yozora’s combo, it was barely clinging to existence, its dark green form already flickering and turning semi-transparent.

It simply could not comprehend it. Its plan had been absolutely flawless. It had perfectly disguised itself as a human teacher, manipulated the armed kidnappers from the shadows to gather food, and waited for the perfect moment to strike. Why had this random human seen through every single layer of its deception?

Even its final, desperate attempt to use seduction for a point-blank ambush had been completely predicted and countered.

“Heh, fool.”

Yozora stepped forward and planted his foot firmly onto the evil spirit’s crushed abdomen. He looked down at the dying creature, his expression entirely indifferent. He opened his mouth slightly, preparing to consume the dense negative energy, and delivered his final verdict.

“Kindergarten teachers don’t wear high heels to work.”
