Chapter 107: On the Self-Cultivation of an Ultimate Brother Complex Enthusiast

Meanwhile, in Penacony, within the opulent Oakhaven Residence.

Sunday sat on the velvet sofa that served as the centerpiece of the grand living room. His fingers unconsciously stroked a small Robin doll on his lap; its fabric was slightly worn at the edges, a proof of its age, but each frayed seam had been carefully mended.

He had canceled all his appointments for the day. For the young head of the Iris Family, a man who orchestrated the affairs of Penacony with careful precision, such an action was nothing short of abnormal. It was a well-known fact that even matters of grave importance rarely compelled Sunday to abandon his work. Yet, at this moment, the holographic television in the living room was active, looping through the pre-show reel for an Interstellar Peace Corporation news broadcast. Clearly, something had proven more important than family business.

It was common knowledge that, for deeply rooted historical reasons, the relationship between Penacony’s ruling families and the IPC was frigid at best. Backed by the might of The Harmony, the families of the Planet of Festivities were one of the few powers in the galaxy that operated without needing the Corporation’s approval.

Ordinarily, Sunday held anything related to the IPC in utter disdain. But for every rule, there is an exception.

For example, Robin.

Three years ago, when his sister was a galactic superstar, the entertainment news alerts saved on his personal device outnumbered his family’s financial reports. For every live broadcast of her concerts, he would book an entire private cinema, where he would sit with a glow stick in hand until the dead of night.

Then, Robin had suddenly announced her retirement, stating only that she was going on a trip across the galaxy. Though he was deeply reluctant to see her go, he could only rely on their occasional, brief calls to confirm her safety.

That was, until yesterday. A friend within the Iris Family had sent him a discreet message—Robin might be making a comeback. Today. And she would be appearing in a special segment on the IPC news.

With a decisive mental snap, Sunday had immediately cleared his entire schedule.

Now, he sat in wait, dressed in a fan-made t-shirt covered in Robin’s image. Her albums, an array of character figurines, and stubs from past concerts were scattered across the sofa around him. Even the coffee cup on the nearby side table was adorned with a delicate musical note design.

In this state, he looked less like the formidable head of a major galactic power and more like a die-hard fan, anxiously awaiting the moment his idol would finally take the stage.

As the promotional segment on the holographic TV began its third loop, a dark, shining crow landed silently on the windowsill. Its obsidian eyes swept over the scene in the living room, and it seemed to shake its head with a hint of gentle exasperation. The avian creature, whom Sunday called Owlbert, observed the man sitting ramrod straight on the sofa and couldn’t help but sigh internally. ‘This heir is excellent in every way,’it thought.’Steady, decisive, and he manages Penacony flawlessly. It is only when it comes to Robin that he regresses into this overgrown, borderline fanatical child.’Its gaze drifted to the grandfather clock in the corner of the room. The sound of its gears turning was exceptionally clear in the heavy silence. The ticking suddenly brought someone else to mind.’Sigh… Speaking of which, I haven’t seen Mikhail in a long time…”Mikhail, you and I are not on the same path. When we meet again, I will surely be cursed by you. But Mikhail…”I want to fix your clock, too…”Will you blame me, Mikhail? Will you?”Will you forgive me, Mikhail? Will you?’

The crow would never forget the young Trailblazer he met upon arriving in Penacony, nor could he forget those melancholic eyes… And so, he had decided to dedicate his life to this world of dreams.

Sunday, lost in his anticipation, was suddenly jolted by a strange, heavy gravity emanating from the window. He turned, his focus finally breaking from the screen.

“Mr. Owlbert, when did you arrive?”

“Pay me no mind,” the crow chirped, flapping its wings and gliding to land on the armrest of the sofa. “The program is about to start. Don’t you want to see how Miss Robin is doing now?”

Sunday’s attention was instantly recaptured, his momentary embarrassment forgotten as his gaze snapped back to the television.

On the holographic display, the familiar snowy owl mascot of the IPC news, also named Owlbert, was greeting the camera. Sunday couldn’t help but frown and click his tongue in annoyance. “Why are they still on the host? Hurry up and get to Robin…”

He patiently endured the mascot’s narration of the recent incident on the Xianzhou, his fingers tapping a light, restless rhythm on his knee. The tempo grew faster and faster, a frantic countdown to the moment he was waiting for.

Then, the director finally switched the camera. Three figures seated on a sofa came into view, and Sunday suddenly shot bolt upright, his eyes igniting with a brilliant light.

“Robin!” he blurted out, his voice thick with an irrepressible, joyous excitement.

His sister on the screen was dressed in an elegant, light purple gown, her pale blue hair shimmering under the studio lights. Compared to three years ago, her expression held a new serenity, a quiet maturity, but she was still the person he knew better than anyone.

“Aaaaaahhhhhhh!”

After three long years, this was the first time Sunday had laid eyes on her again. For an ultimate brother-fan, the thrill was almost overwhelming.

But when he heard Robin introduce herself, the smile on Sunday’s face froze solid. “I am now a Pure Beauty Knight.”

“Pure Beauty Knight?” he muttered, the words tasting foreign and wrong on his tongue. His brow furrowed, the lines deepening with every passing second. “Didn’t she say she was just traveling? How could she have gone off to do something so dangerous?”

Sunday clearly remembered their last conversation. She was going to travel the galaxy, she’d said, to experience the local customs and traditions of various worlds. To prove it, she had even sent him scenic photos from other planets from time to time, which was the only reason Sunday had been able to maintain his composure.

And now, he was being told that for the past few years, Robin had been serving as a Pure Beauty Knight? That she had been out in the cosmos fighting the Antimatter Legion not long ago?

A cold dread washed over him. His wild imagination, now freed from the leash of reason, began to run rampant. If Robin had been injured over the years, how did she manage? Was she alone? Did anyone help her?

He remained lost in a spiral of worry until Robin had finished speaking. Then, with a sudden, sharp movement, Sunday stood up.

“Mr. Owlbert, I have made up my mind.” He turned to face the crow on the armrest, his tone carrying an unquestionable, iron-clad firmness. “I am going to the Xianzhou to attend her concert.”

‘Didn’t you just look like you were about to have a heart attack over her decision?’the crow thought, tilting its head.’How did you change your mind so quickly? I’ve seen Masked Fools who were less fickle.’

However, Owlbert could understand. Sunday had just learned his beloved sister had been a knight fighting on dangerous front lines for three years, and he hadn’t seen her in all that time. Seeing the fervent light burning in Sunday’s eyes, the crow ultimately nodded. “That’s for the best. You can go as a representative of Penacony, to send some post-disaster relief aid to the Xianzhou.”

The suggestion was perfect. It would satisfy the dignity of the family while allowing the siblings to reunite. What could be better?

Without another word, Sunday snatched his phone. His fingers flew across the screen, a blur of motion as he booked the fastest possible star-rail route.

If he could, he would have teleported to the Xianzhou that very second.
